It's fucking useless.
If we replaced all those hours of "interpreting" bullshit with mathematics, programming and science, we'd have people ready for the workplace at 18 at most, with the equivalent of half or more of a STEM degree.
It would also eliminate many of the problems with Marxist teachers trying to subvert the kids' thought.
There are other classes that could be culled too like art, drama, etc.
