No cargo shorts or shorts of any kind for me, and I did daily my 250 for a year in North Jersey traffic. It was comfortable and agile. If you have image issues then ride something else, but there was zero functional downside and I took advantage of medians and other routes around traffic. It was perfect poorfag transportation.

Sure they will... Two grand is high and the season is ending. I'd look for newer, better performing machines for my money but those CBs didn't really have any vices. You'll get to learn about points ignition maintenance which isn't horrid.

They were quite nice for 1972, so if you must offer about 1400 cash. Two grand is SV650 territory and an SV is a drastically better machine.

If you have to pay someone else retail to get it running, pass on it and use the couple hundred or so dollars towards a newer ride. If /diy/, enjoy the education and check out vintage Honda forums.

I've done it and so have tens of thousands of other riders. Draining the oil is a smart move. If your battery is conventional lead/acid remove it first so you don't piss corrosive electrolyte all over your bike.

I wouldn't lay a faired bike I cared about on it's side to swap tires.

If you have an engine hoist or a beam and a comealong and a soft sling or cargo strap you can lift the bike by a sling. I do it that way for fork swaps.

If you can do basic wrenching it might be OK. I'm not much into scooters but a quick glance shows parts are easily available.

Spend some time on scooter forums to figure out exactly which engine, perhaps Minarelli, it runs and cost on clutch and belt.

Don't beat the shit out of cheap transpo when you don't have a backup. Be nice to light gear and it lives a lot longer. A lot of noobs learn to wrench on scooters. Assume nothing, take your time, and ask questions instead of braking shit. Parts are cheap.

Is battery old or new-ish?

I use this for unattended charging. Yuasa are unlikely to sell chargers which would fuck up motorcycle batteries of which they make millions. I like their batteries too.

Car chargers etc can easily cook motorcycle batteries if you aren't watching them, while that style can be left on as a tender.

If battery doesn't take a charge, replace. If in doubt, replace since a defective battery can overload your charging system and fry rectifier/regulators etc.

I remove my batteries when storing bikes and keep them indoors on a plastic cart. A tub would to for one but I've many batteries. (Also comes in handy during power outages to run LED lights can charge smart phones.)
