>Free mobile Spotify cucks you by not letting you listen the song you want, in the order you want, rewind them, can only skip 6 tracks for 6 hours and have to thank them for letting listen 30 minutes of uninterrupted music after watching an annoying video
>Free Spotify for desktop lets you listen any song you want, in the order you want, rewind them, whatevs, and you can block ads if you aren't computer illiterate

Do you have to be sad to enjoy sad music? I find it hard to really commit to listening to full albums that aren't in some way upbeat or triumphant. I lead a pretty happy normal life so I can't really relate to songs about being completely heartbroken or considering suicide, etc. I really want to broaden my musical horizon but it feels like a job rather than genuine enjoyment at the moment. Ironically my inability to appreciate sad or depressing music is making me feel depressed, so maybe it won't be a problem for much longer.
How about you anon, what do you get out of dark depressing music, what's the appeal for you?

I like sad songs but I don't feel sad when I listen to them, I usually just feel at peace or sometimes weirdly ecstatic.
music isn't always about you.

well i think YOUR garbage
Who here wants to make music but can't write for shit?
The only thing i'm good at is singing and lyrics, that's about it (although i'm happy enough with just this)
then how about learning an instrument and become a singer songwriter?
or join/form a band with guys the synergy goes well?
>>70581032
I get bored with instruments really quick, bad habit I know. I never get tired of signing or writing though
I'm gonna ask a friend I know to form a duo with me, him making the music and me singing over/with it
>>70581091
that's very lazy of you
This dude had done so much and was on top of the world when he died. He was 22 years old.
Do you think he would have his "prime" like the Beatles did with Rubber Soul and onwards? I think about this a lot, what the 1960s would have looked like with a late-20s, studio focused Buddy Holly in the picture.
I dunno, Mouth Sounds was pretty good
>>70580876
Lol epic joke
Buddy Holly was fucking monumental. Excellent songwriter, great producer, exceedingly forward thinking. Maybe too straight laced for drugs though, so I think he would probably ride the comfy pop direction he was working on on his s/t with some session musicians, then hit his stride in the mid 60s. He'd contribute outrageously good folk rock albums in the post Like A Rolling Stone/Byrds' Mr. Tambourine Man explosion then contribute solid the Band-esque material. He'd fumble with psychedelia since he'd be too square to actually drop, but his close relationship with the Beatles, to which he would contribute some nice guitar parts to, would give him a vague enough idea to release some above average watered-down psych/sunshine pop. Then off to his roots rock period starting in early '68 (among the earliest but not the first to do a "back to roots" movement) which would be a step up quality wise from his psych stuff since he's in more familiar territory. Finally he'd peter out in the early late 70s with some tight but not mindblowingly good singer-songwriter stuff, gradually losing out to giants like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, CSN/CSN&Y, etc. He'd continue to put out stuff here and there in the mid to late 70s, fumble the few releases he drops in the 80s, release one album of rockabilly hits in the 90s for fun, then die in the early 00s followed by some archival posthumous stuff released by his estate.
I've given this a lot of thought. I fucking love this guy. Pic unrelated, new pc and I haven't moved everything over yet.
I know not everyone likes their last album... but we can all agree this is a classic, right?
