What happened to black music? Honestly just seems like it's gone downhill since the 80s.
revisionist history
white folk thought the same of the blues as we do now of mumble rap
give it 60 years and white guys will start doing mumble rock, like the Black Keys and Jack White did blues rock

You forgot all of house techno electro etc.
Typical /mu/
>>70588055
I'm talking the big popular genre and US centric.
House/techno/etc. was underground and a bigger hit in UK
Is there anything more satisfying than an album closing with a reprise of the opening song? (IE: The Suburbs, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness...)
ITT post albums that do this
can't think of any off the top of my head but bumping for interest

Redpill me on Yoko Ono and what makes her the worst thing to ever happen to the Beatles and John Lennon specifically.
Everything I've heard has been meme level Reddit answers so I've come to you guys to hear the truth.
Yoko is based. Just imagine if The Beatles were still around. They'd be like The Rolling Stones or some shit like that
>>70586942
aside from Revolution 9, yoko didn't do shit except sit there. It was paul's babyrage about yoko that was the problem.
They would have broken up even without her around, they were such a mess at the end with their own personal problems and pettiness towards each other, but John's weirdness with her added to the tension.
You can make more of a case that she was a shitty human being that complimented John's own shittiness.

CONFUSION WILL BE MY EPITAPH
none of those artists really have large discographies
/bleep/ the worst general on /mu/?
>muh shitty EDM is so superior
>much shitty DJs who press play are better than THOSE shitty DJs who press play because they're more obscure
>only listen to singles like a fucking normie pleb and always shit on the idea of albums
>actually dare to shit on people who listen to albums
>home to some of the most cancerous memes and shitposting on /mu/
>British people
Fuck these goddamn nerds. They're worse than most EDM "bros" because they've actually deluded themselves into thinking that their shitty music is any different from other EDM and try to act pretentious about it.
Hell half of what they listen to is boring ass EDM that anyone could make in 5 minutes with an iPad. Literally just Martin Garrix before the drop looped over and over with a lo-fi filter.
But, fuck, what really grinds my gears is that the other half of the "genres" they listen to are just shitty hip-hop rip offs mostly done by retarded British people.

>muh shitty EDM is so superior
they like IDM and gay underground shit. there is no "EDM" general on /mu/ although their should be. id rather listen to martin garrix and all that "bro" shit than the garbage they like
What album made you respect the R&B genre?
FutureSex/LoveSounds
I always loved it.
But if we're looking for specific artists: Stevie Wonder, JT, Frank Ocean, and Mary J are some of my favorites.
still waiting for one
EDM is inherently incredibly obnoxious and formulaic corporate pop shit
House, techno, breakbeat, jungle, garage, grime, UK dubstep, juke/footwork etc. are all EDM.
Therefore house, techno, breakbeat, jungle, garage, grime, UK dubstep, are juke/footwork are all inherently incredibly obnoxious and formulaic corporate pop shit.
Someone's never heard Basic Channel.
someone's never heard any actual proper edm

>House, techno, breakbeat, jungle, garage, grime, UK dubstep, juke/footwork etc. are all EDM.
But none of that is EDM my lad.

Run the Jewels' Killer Mike and El-P have a yin-yang dynamic. Killer Mike is confident and holds master morality, whereas El-P is paranoid and holds slave morality. El-P is the better producer and rapper, but he needs Mike there to counteract him, otherwise his music would be too tense and cringe to chart.
Mike is an active member in the community, actively defiant, making public statements against how his people are underrepresented and underprivileged. "Kill your masters."
El-P has disdain for power itself ("piss on power") and would probably never find himself in a situation like Mike's, where he was a drug dealer exploiting people for profit.
Master morality is superior to slave morality. Desiring power instead of loathing it is the only way to make real change in the world. El-P, despite all of his talent, is a self-traumatizing and childlike character with illuminati theories.
RTJ1, both influenced: black cover, morally incoherent
RTJ2, Mike influenced: red cover, angry, vitriolic, destructive
RTJ3, El-P influenced: blue cover, disappointed, sarcastic, moralist
Mike made his point at the end of RTJ3, though. He, Zack de la Rocha, and some woman (El's girlfriend?) all chanted, "Kill your masters!" about fifty times.
Good job, you took a project these two people did to have some meaningless fun, and used it to draw 13 year old teenage nihilist "philosophy" conclusions from it.
I hope you're proud of yourself, cuz I'm certain your parents never will be.
>>70586299
wow you are dumb and don't understand rap
>>70586299
also it's really explicit and intentional so you might just be a simp for not noticing it on the first listen
I love depressing music but Low is just comfy to me. Anybody else relate? I really want it to be soul-crushing but it just isn't. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention to the lyrics? I dunno
