What does /mu/ think of this album or Mr. Bungle in general? I think it still has those usual Bungle mindfuck moments but it has really melodic and fantastic stuff such as the buildup on Air-Conditioned Nightmare and the vocals on Vanity Fair.

Metal is waaaaay better than rap in every possible way. Without even mentioning anything about the music itself, you can see that metal is better just from the fact that its artists can actually manage to make more than half a good album. Rappers always fade after a couple hit songs on an album filled with filler. There are tons of metal bands that continue to innovate and create awesome records over the decades. Bathory and Darkthrone are prime examples of this.

For those blessed without the knowledge of these pathetic vagrants, imagine crossing a dirty hippie with an anarchist Punk squatter. Now try to imagine that same shithead dedicating his future to an idle life of homelessness, hard drugs and the occasional temper tantrum informed by the latest lyrical screeds from his favorite bands. When he isn't beating his bongo drums or strumming his out of tune guitar at the latest protest, he's shooting smack, panhandling, accosting some poor sucker who committed the unspeakable atrocity of eating meat in his presence or ganging up with his buddies on some poor sucker who happened to say something that could be considered racist.
There really isn't a more obnoxious subculture than this. Even the most loutish, knuckle-dragging skinhead looks dignified in comparison.
That said, I don't mind some of their music. At times, it's cathartically hateful and aggressive.

Finally gave this a listen for the first time, its really fucking good
No idea why I was overlooking it, shoegaze with trip-hop beats is a great style. Makes sense to combine the two genres, especially given that they were both at peak relevance at the same time.
