I want to get into ambient music. What are some of your favorite ambient albums? If there's a chart, I'd be thankful.
this one is essential anon

Here's a chart and a couple others I'll post in a min that I found a while back. I don't remember that Ulver album being remotely ambient though, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Posting this after Cornell died.
I saw Radiohead yesterday in Oslo. GA, as always. They were great.
A few years ago I lived in Osaka, and saw them there at a festival. Had a brief, sad encounter with Thom.
I now find myself living in the Netherlends (to be my expat home). Oslo show was the only one I could get GA for so I was there.
I was stunned to realise that after thow show, Thom was doing the exact same thing:
Sitting at the pub.
Alone.
Downing entirely too much alcohol, and again, instead of "leave me alone", he beckoned anyone who left him alone.
I didn't say anything this time. Didn't want to bother him and taking a photo surely would.
Now whether you believe me or not, I don't care. I really think Thom needs to check in. It's so blatantly obvious he's a terrible alcoholic. Even with his new gf, he's still reliant on it. Dude's severely depressed as far as I can tell.
I fear he may have one drink too many. This is not what a 48 y/o who aged well in the 90's should look like.
he should take a few ativans, they'll solve his problems

>Dude's severely depressed as far as I can tell.
Thom's been severely depressed his entire career.
He'll be fine.

Denzel Curry is the best underground rapper in the past 5 years
>Better music than X and Ski
>Leaves Pouya, Fat Nick, Lil Pump in the dust
>Better than about 80% of mainstream rappers
Denzel Curry is a cornball who throws in embarrassing lines about cartoons, anime and video games references in between uninspired and generic Young Jeezy-esque brags about his nonexistent hood life.

Anyone here ever just get obsessed with one band and buy almost their entire discography and listened to them exclusively for like months and then move on to explore more music. For me im obsessed with the beatles and cant stop listening to them. And whenever i try to listen to other bands i just dont enjoy them. Feels bad/good

I've been on a kick since the 50th anv. edition of Sgt. Pepper. What's your favorite song by them since re listening?
For me I never realized just how perfect In My Life is. That song I think single-handedly inspired half of Pet Sounds.
iktf. I used to have 20 GB of Ween.
how long did it take you to realize Islands was their best?

How long will it take you to realize that Red and Larks Tongue will always be the best?

Is this a world in which Discipline and Larks Tongues don't exist?
Studio KC will always lose out to their live output
I was listening to 2000s "techno" on youtube and noticed that people in the comments were arguing whether or not the track was techno
>Bah, that's not techno, if you want techno, listen to X
I go listen to X and the comments are pretty much the same. Can you guys show me what techno is? And what genre is, let's say "Kernkraft 400"?
>>73248099
Mindy > Cindy
There was a time the media called all bleeps techno.
House is 4/4, warmer, rooted in disco and r&b
Techno is 4/4, colder and more robotic, rooted in synthpop and funk
Breaks/jungle/d&b took hip hop breaks, fused them with Jamaican MC'ing and harder techno
Trance is gay
house is techno with snares on the second kick
techno that has snares on the second kick that doesn't sound like house is called idm

Thanks, any examples for a filthy casual?
Fuck this has been out for a day and I have not heard a single thing about it.
Thoughts?
I think the washed out surfy rock vibe is a little played out, but the songwriting is absolutely top notch. He's definitely matured a lot as an artist.
Will the new album be as good at Loom Loom?

I like the song, but the mix is a little too sanitary and clean. I know it's a more serious song, but let's be honest the appeal of Ariel is his eccentric over the top take on pop. I'm honestly a little worried we're in for another Mature Themes
>>73248063
>I'm honestly a little worried we're in for another Mature Themes
>implying Mature Themes was a bad album
You can't know for sure how the new album is going to sound based on this single. The singles for Pom Pom sounded nothing like the rest of the album. for example.
essential 'white male shel silverstein core'?
ur angry lol
I think only an insufferably boring white guy could make such a shit meme
What would make me interesting?
holy shit, I'd kinda given up hope after jenny death and bottomless pit but they're sounding fresh again
actually this is their worse release yet and we here at /mu/ have been off the bandwagon for years
>>73247855
people were hype when this came out.
If you hop on bandwagons in general you're a fucking pussy who needs their opinion validated by others.
Learn to like the music you like, and quit looking around to see who likes what, or what has a bandwagon you can hop on, all that shit.
>>73247828
niggas on the moon sounded more "fresh" then anything I heard that year. If you can give me one release from 2014 , that would be cool.
