Because I'm listening to Pete Rock & CL Smooth.
what does /mu/ think of this album?
really good but seems like it's the only latin american album /mu/ knows
Stop spamming this hippie shit
GOAT
lol
Why is this album considered a classic? I listen to it, and every part of it is boiled down parts of other albums dre did production on.

idk anybody who calls it a classic besides white journalists
>>73443241
So I assume it was an album with good timing then. It came out right when white people were ready to hear gangster rap (thanks to em and shit) so they heard this as groundbreaking when it is nowhere near that

It's not a bad album actually, it reminds me of the debut Suicide record a lot, big fan of that one, soooo...yeah
It's not terrible. I think people got overly excited that the band touched on genres like no wave, industrial, and noise rock, while forgetting what actually made bands like DNA, SPK, and Flipper so great in the first place.
ITT: Bands/artists you thought were going to be huge but instead fell off the face of the Earth
When you make an album as commercially successful as Torches, you don't need to worry about popularity.

>Peter Saville used the album cover of Republic to comment about the decadence of today’s society. The image is clearly representative of the fall of the republic of Rome, and Peter Saville believes that our civilization is unfortunately heading in the same direction. Near the end of the fall of Rome, the patricians arranged for circuses to entertain the plebian while the cities declines. The cover shows two people playing on the beach, in the present day, while a house burns down next to them.
Damn...
Yeah it's rare to see an album cover so nuanced and layered. Thanks for the great post
Doesn't excuse the fact that the cover looks like doodoo.
This is some of the worst fucking music ever laid to tape. Track 1 is Big Band-meets-Sabbath dogshit, Track 2 is hippie throwaway w/flute solos, Track 3 is a fitting soundtrack to a Harry Potter Quidditch match, and Tracks 4 and 5 are drenched in more synth than an 80's sponge..
Astounding critique, you truly have me beat

I saw that Todd in the Shadows video too. I hate most pop punk, mainly because it's usually not catchy enough, but this songs really good
>>73365861
I used to love pop punk. Now I truly hate almost all of it, but I do love "Right Now". When pop-punk is whiny, I find it unbearable. Stuff like "Flavor of the Weak" or anything by Simple Plan. But when it's just good fun, I love that. I can still get down to Bowling for Soup.
>>73365917
lmao bowling for soup is fucking dogshit
