Started out in the outlaw country scene in the 70s, became country-rock superstar and "alt country" forefather in 80s, got strung out on heroin but then came back in the 90s and 00s to the highest critical acclaim of his career, blowing the other current "alt-country" people like farrar and tweedy and ryan adams out of the water, exploring styles like folk and bluegrass as well.

Are the new Pixies worth seeing perform live? Are the new albums any good? Will they play alot of older songs on tour too or just their new stuff? If they do play their old stuff will it still be a good show?
They're worth seeing for that sexy Kim replacement.
I saw them in 2014 and they looked like they couldn't give less of a shit
glad it was at a festival, would've never paid for that experience
can't speak for their live performance but the two new albums ain't bad. obviously not up the level of their original albums but as far as modern alt rock goes you could do a LOT worse
indie cindy > head carrier

10/10. Already listened to it
Im currently getting interested in music theory but I am basically musically illiterate. I would like the first learn how to actually read music. How should I go about doing that?
>>74428882
learn the notes on the staff, then learn the types of notes.
>>74428882
Piano is a good starting place
>>74428882
It’s basically just how high up or down on those lines is how high or low the note is and then the way the note is drawn shows how long to hit it for.
Don’t get hung up on this if it’s not clicking, just use a piano roll. It’s the math that counts
How much relevant they are?
Do we actually eat and learn what they are telling us?
Why do we need them?
Life itselfs teaches me that life is hard, that life has wonderful things, that I should work hard, etc; do I need a song to "open myself"??
I think it's a wonderful thing to appreciate it coming from the artist himself/herself; and that's all. Should we care about the language? should we bother to understand it??
>>74428854
In my opinion it depends on the artist's intention. Some music uses singing just as another element of the music, sometimes with meaningless or even gibberish lyrics that are chosen for their sound.
Others, like a lot of singer songwriters, are primarily lyricists and the music serves as a vehicle for that.
With most pop and rap the lyrics come second to the "vibes" of the song since it's meant as passive listening
What did the "Book I" mean? Was there meant to be another album?

I'd like to buy a 4-track to start recording some music. Should I buy new or used? What kind should I buy? Anything I should look out for?
Why a 4-track? Just use audacity
Before you decide if you want new or used, you should decide whether you want digital or tape.
If you want digital, you should consider whether you want an actual 4 track recorder, or instead want an audio interface for essentially an infinite number of tracks.
If you want cassette, I have a Yamaha MT4X I love to death if you want me to answer some questions/talk more about it.
if you want cassette get a used yamaha portastudio
This song is good
