What's /mu/'s opinion on the second album "In the Wake of Poseidon" ?
I heard it for the first time yesterday after years of listening to In the Court but never gave any other album a try cus I'm a pleb
but holy fuck this album is amazing
i loved the first one so much so to me this is part 2 of the first one.
I wish i heard it earlier
anyway
what do you guys think of the Poseidon album
It's ok, but Lizard is still their best work
>>74618963
It's pretty good, but since it's pretty much a carbon copy of ITCOTCK it isn't as regarded.
If it came out first it would probably be the "classic" instead.
>>74618963
In The Wake Of Poseidon suffers because it's such an obvious followup to such an amazing first album. Pictures Of A City is its 21st Century Schizoid Man, Cadence and Cascade is its I Talk To The Wind, In The Wake Of Poseidon (title track) is its Epitaph, etc.
That said it's still at least a 6-7/10 in my book. Devil's Triangle is a great track. Probably better than Lizard but worse than Larks.
After listening to this a few times i've come to the conclusion it is the 70's greatest pop album ever made. You can try to despite this but you'll be wrong.
What's your favorite track off Aja?
>actually fits in very complex musical concepts into pop songs to an extent guys like The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Bowie, Radiohead, prog/'art' rock in general, etc. could never do who did far simpler things
>not an ounce as much recognition as those guys
Why?
Also my favorite is probably the title track because of how well done the harmonic progression is throughout the verse bit, and then Shorter does his magic in the instrumental section.
Hey Nineteen
>>74618938
"not an ounce of recognition" lmao boomers pay more attention to steely dan than they ever did to VU
and i genuinely feel sorry for you if you think "soft rock with smooth jazz touches" is anywhere near the best the 70s had to offer
>"Oasis is the best band in the world. That's a fact."
Is he right?
>>74618678
He was at the time.
>>74618678
Fuck no
oasis doesnt exist anymore
Bands that aren't metal but people call metal for some reason edition.

>it's a thread where autistic retards bitch about how anything popular isn't "real" metal
Daily reminder that there is nothing wrong with Batushka and Uada
So, I know this is a concept album... but what's the concept?
>>74618525
"i hate myself and wanna die"
It's similar to The Wall as that was a huge inspiration during its creation. A man is falling apart and losing everyone in his life. Listen to the lyrics and it tells that story. 'Still' is a followup album or a companion that goes to the very bottom.
>>74618641
I've never actually listened to Still. I take it it's worth my time?
My friend today told me that she showed her mom the Twin Peaks soundtrack and she flipped out and made her turn it off.
>>74618514
Literally why
Most of it is chill lounge jazz and dream pop
>set merzbow as an alarm
>mom says it's satanic demons
My mom's literal reaction
>what is this pussy shit, listen to some pantera
Name a band/artist and use a single image from Jimmy Neutron to summarise it.
I'll start: Daniel Johnston
>>74618481
Slint
king gizzard and the lizard wizard
Corey Feldman
This is the best Beatles albumn
>>74618448
Agreed.
Best album: SPLHCB
Best song: Abbey Road Medley
Yeah, it's seriously underrated. There's a lot of experimentation going on but not so much that it crowds out the feeling of the songs.
What do you guys think of Pulp?
Some nice singles but albums are a little too bloated. Not as bloated as Oasis though.
Different Class and This is Hardcore are pretty good.
Its good but only pretend patricians will argue they were the kings of britpop
Suede were and Dog Man Star was the best british album of the 90s
Post good jazz albums that don't sound generic as fuck
pic related
>>74618405
overrated
>>74618405
That's probably the most generic jazz album of the big 3.
>very limited amount of improvisation with non-existent amounts of melodic/harmonic development to make up for it
>simplified grooves that take away any of the more subtle/dynamic aspects of jazz drumming (even though many examples in jazz show you can have both)
>large arrangement that weaves in parts like a first year music school kiddie
>a "variety" of different parts that play too close together instead of being more syncopated, thus not being taken full advantage of to create dance rhythms nor actual depth/complexity
It's literally outdated (even at the time), cliche dance music with no depth. The 60s equivalent of The Epic but not as bloated. Note how this album wasn't even that highly acclaimed when it came out; Downbeat gave it a 4/5 when just about any relatively decent record can nab a 5/5 from them (so don't give "le most acclaimed" garbage either). The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady didn't get praise until later by people who hadn't listened to more than a handful of jazz records and were too casual to fully digest the more intricate improvisations in real jazz music but also couldn't handle the depth in compositions of classical music.
so many people in the neighborhood *crash* *crash*

Delete that whole list, and just listen to Galneryus.
