I'm a thrash metal metalhead (what most part of the metalcore kids would call a "metal elitist"), and I don't think there's really good metalcore/Deathcore. But I went to see whitechapel yesterday and it was quite fun. A few deathcore bands are quite fun to listen to in the middle of a pit with your friends, but I wouldn't say that they're really good bands.

Odelay is really his only worthwhile album, but mostly because it's stolen music. He hasn't ever had an original idea. It's why bands like Ween are talked about more here. I love Odelay but if you want alternative that really took work check out The Flaming Lips or something.

Hate to say it, but for most casual listeners looking to get a lot of space on their mp3 player, the iPod classic is probably the best option. You can still find them for relatively cheap on Craigslist or fagbook or even on Amazon. Obviously they're gonna be in used condition.

You can even expand the HD by installing an SSD.
