Yeeeah baby, work that grill.
>>
I liked the other thread better.
>>
Making a new thread cannot save you.
Only making new quests.
>>
All I got from that discussion about miracle is "it's SUPPOSED to be shit"
>>
>>28906276
Yeah, that's Cammy's attitude in a nutshell.
>>
So all in all, there's been 1 new QM to show up in the last month.

Anyone else wann toss their hat and in the ring, liven things up?
>>
>>28906276
I got that he's trying to improve it in various ways, but that some of the shit is foundational to the quest, so it can't really be changed. And that past actions/choices are biting him in the ass with how he wants to improve.

So only part of it was "It's SUPPOSED to be shit".
>>
>>28906303

Nah.
I'll just continue waiting for all the old QMs to come back and save us.
Surely they won't let us die right?
>>
>>28906311
Lazy.
Lazy anon. Shame on you.
>>
>>28906303
Isn't there like, only 4 of us who haven't ever tried QMing yet, anyway?
>>
>>28906331
I once hijacked a quest that the QM had quit on and was deliberately awful at it so he would come back.

Resuming Miracle: Trying-to-improve boogaloo
>>28906356

>>28906304
>>28906286
Yes, that is part of it. Some of the design decisions I took were flawed, but I am so far into it that at this point my best bet is fixing what can be fixed, trying to balm what can't, and stay on the ride until its over.
>>
you guys need more QMs? I thought CYOAs on /mlp/ were alive and strong

I'm a noob GM fa/tg/uy, but I'd be happy to run some quests. never done a pbp quest format though
>>
>>28906331
All I've ever done are two mini quests for celebratory purposes that were only about 20 or so posts long and both ended with the MC dying. They were also both shit.

>Snow had come to ponyville!
>It was early december, a time of hot chocolate and joy.
>A time of snowball fights and cute scarves
>A season of sledding and colds!
>A merryness rung out through the streets, as the sun set early and all the foals and fillies got in one last hour of playing before dinner.
>Carols and choruses were sung out, warm treats and sweets were sold out of the market for young ones to enjoy.
>Soon Hearths Warming Eve would be upon us, and all would celebrate with dinners and feasts and family and friends.

>But there was one pony in ponyville who was not prepared for such a thing.
>Our tale, begins with her: Winter Wishes
>>
>>28906390
There's ups and down in CYOA

Were in a down and the rampant cynism of this threads isn't helping.

But I don't think there ever was a time when people would refuse the idea of more QMs

>You look out the window of your newly aquired home, solemly staring out at the slowly falling snow.
>You sigh. The ponies out there are having so much fun, playing in the snow.
>Coming from a southern family, you never got much snow. That, and you never did celebrate Hearth's Warming.
>You wish you could be out there, having fun with some of the ponies of the snow-covered Ponyville, but you haven't had time to make any friends yet. Other than that... Pink pony, that is.
>You try to will yourself to move, to get out there and meet some ponies, but your body resists. What if you make a fool of yourself? What if ponies expect you to know what Hearths' Warming is about? What if ponies don't like you?
>Returning to the window, your mind is conflicted about what to do.
>On one hoof, it looked awfully fun outside, the gentle flurry placing large fluffy flakes atop the town.
>As you stared, your mind drifted over to past holiday seasons, of your old family.
>And the one tradition you always kept, making one single winter wish, as was your name sake.
>Your heart ached just a teensy bit, and you made up your mind.
>You would make your own wish this year, to go out, make friends, and have the best Hearths Warming Eve you could!
>But where to start? Did you just run outside screaming about friendship?
>Should you even begin today?
>You needed a plan.
>>
>>28906390
>you guys need more QMs?
We don't /need/ more QMs, I'm pretty sure we still have half a dozen who regularly update. But we could use some new blood, or at least some excitement.
It's not realistic to expect a new quest to pop up and become popular every two weeks.

But hey, if you enjoy QMing by all means go ahead. Remember that on average, /mlp/ prefers fleshed-out characters over gamey systems, and you'll be fine.
>>
Bard Quest: Since there isn't "CYOA discussion" in the OP, I have "Ded QMs" written on the top of my screen at all time in the tab. And that's unsettling when you're a QM. Returns!

Nah, we can do it later. Lets stay inside where it's warm instead, and put it off making friends until the princesses threaten to kick us out of the country for being unsociable.
>>
>>28906438
This. The rampant doomsaying is the exact opposite of helpful.
>>
>>28906435
Surely we can make a friend through commercialism.

We just gotta dress the part. Stockings and antlers and stuff.

We're probably too shy to run at a pony we don't know doing that, but we could probably whisper yell all the way to the pink one and hopefully get there before we pass out from lack of oxygen.

Both are taking "breaks" with no foreseeable end from the great quests that they are loved for to do not even half finished miniquests and dick around in the secret discord (literally from what i'm hearing here).
That isn't to say i don't love the two of them, but stuff like this is kinda bittersweet, y'know. sure it's kinda fun, but they often don't go anywhere and it's a constant reminder of what we're missing out on.
>>
>>28906722
>Loved
pls
I have four incomplete quests, three of which are complete piles of shit, and I can hardly even keep up motivation to run my half-decent quest.
I can hardly even keep motivation to do this one panel solo, if it tells you anything. I don't like doing things on my own, it just isn't fun.
>>
>>28906771
>pls
but you are.
Don't look too much into what i said, try to have fun doing whatever it is you want to do.
I'm just giving my honest feelings about the matter.
>>
>>28906771
How about you collab on your own quests then?
It could be fun for everyone, you'd get to progress on those old things and maybe bring some to an end, and I'm sure we'd love the results.
>>
>>28906788
>I'm just giving my honest feelings about the matter.
I appreciate that, anon.

>>28906790
As much as I'd love to, I don't want to drag people away from their quests for the entire time that I'm running mine. I wouldn't mind collabing for my quests every once in a while, but I want other people to have fun with their quests too.
I wouldn't mind collabing on Curse, if it would help motivate Lis like I know it would motivate me. I'd have to actually catch up first, though.
>>
>>28906815
>I don't want to drag people away from their quests for the entire time that I'm running mine.
My man, when's the last time you or Lis have been running anything on your own
You're not going to drag people away from anything if it's dead

You're going to capitalize the word "I" in the actual quest, right? Because seeing "i" just kills it for me.

>Having heard horror stories of ponies who stayed inside and never socialized, you decide to throw all caution to the wind, and run outside shouting about friendship.
>Well, maybe that's a little exaggerated. It was more of a canter, with hushed shouting.
>You made sure to put on some festive socks. Ponies wear socks around the holidays, right?
>The ponies are looking at you kinda strangely as you trot along the snowy roads. Is this not normal? Are you already messing up your first impressions? Are the socks too much?
>You shake your head. You've already committed to this, you have to keep going strong.
>That resolve doesn't last, and starts breaking down as ponies' gazes bore into the strange unicorn who's quickly trotting down the street making weird whispering noises.
>Thankfully, you see the pink pony's place coming up down the street, said pink pony crouching suspiciously behind a mound of snow just outside. You trot up to greet her, but are suddenly struck with a cold substance in the side, startling you.
>After regaining your balance, you look down and see the remains of a small ball of snow that had just been thrown at you.
>Looking around, you see several other mounds of snow similar to the one the pink pony is hiding behind.
>What is this? You know enough about friendship to know you don't attack other friends!
>Not that that ball of snow hurt or anything.
>The pink pony looks up at you.
>"Oh hey, it's new pony!" She says, cheer evident in her voice. Suddenly, she goes much more serious, ducking down and grabbing some similar balls of snow. "What are you doing? Get down!"
>You have half a mind to ask what she means before suddenly a second snowball whizzes past your head.
>Your body tenses up, wanting to take action. What will you do?

>The Pink mare gives you another quick, frantic wave.
>You race towards her, taking cover behind her mound of snow.
>She whisks a ball away from her, and you hear a distant plop as she presumably scores a hit.
"So- Uh, what was your name again?"
>You ask, a bit hesitantly.
>"What? You forgot my name! Oh no! I must not have made an impression! I'm losing my touch!"
>She sticks out her hoof while giving you a serious grin.
>"My name is Pinkie Pie, and right now- I need your help. This is a fun emergency!"
>You cautiously stick out your hoof and shake hers.
"I-I'm Winter Wishes. What's the emergency?"
>Her face breaks out in a grin.
>"Why, you're not having fun, of course! Come on, grab a snow ball! Give it a whirl!"
>Your socked hooves find an ample amount of snow, and you carve out a tiny ball, before activating your magical horn and chucking it, closing your eyes and giving a tiny squeak.
>After a few seconds, you hear a thud, and then-
>"My Snootle! I'll get you for that!"
>A snowball comes whizzing back, sailing over your cover and landing safely a few feet away.
>"Good shot Winter! Nice one!"
>Pinkie compliments you, as you find yourself grinning and already beginning to sculpt a few new snowballs.

>The two of you begin your attack, firing back and forth as much as you can.
>Despite the chill of the air, you stay warm with the energy you are putting in to throw and bound about.
>It isn't too long before you catch yourself loudly laughing.
"Go ahead, try and hit me!"
>You taunt the distant ponies.
>A snowball splats harmlessly against your coat, and you fall over with a dramatic flourish.
"I-I'm down! Pinkie, save me!"
>She giggles as she pulls you back under cover.

>The snowball fight continues, but it remains at a standstill. Hunks of cold snow are being flung back and forth but no real ground is being gained.
>It's clear you need a plan to swiftly take out your foes, what will you do?

That's a popular way to go as far as arting shows. I have no strong preference really, just like my opinion, man.

As far as setup, figure an outpost would have all the necessities and such. Doctoring, I think on a burgeoning frontier, would be neat with new stuff to figure out/cutting edge of pony/griff/otherwise sickness, but if past that idea, then plenty of other things. So no real help on that, but just think what would be needed on the frontier, add some weird stuff to your liking, bam-boom.

>Thinking quickly, you spot a building off to the right that's placed perfectly to drop snow onto your foes.
>But, you can't just drop it, they'll notice and get out of the way.
>Coming up with an idea, you charge to distract them, while using your unicorn magic to push the snow from the nearby roof.
>They chuckle at you, unaware of their impending doom, and toss a few hunks of snow at you.
>You take the brunt of the blow, the snow mussing your well-groomed while coat, but it doesn't matter. You grin at them, and they exchange glances, confused.
>They look up just in time to see a blanket of snow fall onto them, smothering their victory.
"Haha! I'd like to see you try and hit me now!"
>You hop up and stand smugly on top of the snow pile containing the ponies, laughing maniacally.
>Pinkie catches up to you, giggling with you.
>Your laughter devolves into embarrassed giggles as you realize how silly you look and sound.
>"That was great! 100% assured victory!" Pinkie chimes. "So, what does the queen of snowball fights want to do now that she's claimed her crown?"
>A little white flag pokes up from underneath the snow pile, proving your victory.

Okay, it's a bit dead in here so let's try to get some actual discussion going.

So Historical Perspective starts off fairly interesting, then promptly abandons the premise it sets up in favor of simply becoming an entirely different character. There's no saying for sure how well the quest would have gone had the QM stuck with the original character within a character scheme, but isn't it damaging to the story as a whole to go through a shift like that?

And on the topic of Miracle, I can understand where most players, myself included , would be G frustrated with the rather obtuse lack of explanation everything gets. Should the quest remain as is, or should Cammy develop a reward based puzzle oriented system? For example, solve puzzle be rewarded with information?
>>
>>28909044
I don't mind the character shift in Historical Perspective. However, I do feel like the quest was a little ploddy lately. Too much waifu simulator.

Least now we have an assignment for Negra whatever, and I enjoy the prospect of doing a thing.

Doing a thing could be nice. But it's a city of summoner wasn't it? Or at least with some ponies who know how to summon. Or something.

Magics weird. Classifying magic is weird. Do a lot of quests focus on trying to classify magic? Most kinda just seem to take it at face value.

Alright, back again to talk about cyoas.

For this exercise, we will be discussing threats in CYOA and how they are conveyed. First on the order of business is two scenes in Miracle and Threshold. While the two CYOAs are very different, they also share some similarities in how threats are presented, at least in the beginning stages of the adventure.
To this end, I have produced two separate images of early threats in action and how they are presented, as well as the expected and actual reaction of players.

[[DISCLAIMER]]
This write-up is not meant to be malicious, so please do not mistake it as such.

===

The first, on the left, is from Miracle. In this scene applejack has recently followed a disembodied hand to a very large, very tentacally… Head-thing? I’m not sure. But it seems to wish us some ill will, and the players take this note to get the hell out of dodge.

On the right, we have the scene in Threshold where our main character – and several others – are assaulted suddenly and unexpectedly by… another head-thing with tentacles. Similar to the beat in Miracle in attributes only.

Now let’s break things down a bit.

First of all, there are some inherent problems with the presentation in Miracle’s monster, most notably is the overall structure of the creature. Because of the nature of proportions, the creature not only looks scrawny, but almost sickly like a cancer patient something I’m sure is justified by the 4d chess master that is the QM and his vast unknowable world.. The tentacles themselves are numerous, but they split into a great many smaller protrusions, and while this might have been done to establish an otherworldliness and strangeness in long finger wingers, it makes it look like we are being attacked by shitty paintbrushes. Combined with the overly narrow neck compared to the massive brow and the incredibly rudimentary lips, and we get a far more goofy monster that really shouldn’t be instilling any fear whatsoever.

1/4
>>
Meanwhile over in Threshold, we do not get any sort of cue from the author. Instead we are shown the aftermath of the violent arrival of the creature. We get to gaze in the emptiness of its eyes and its mouth, and see that it is filled with tentacles of the grabbing kind. We know that it also extends further off-screen because of the fleshy, vertebrae that extend beyond our scope. It establishes very well that the creature is not welcome, and the gaping mouth instills and preys upon an instinctual feel of the unknown. It also works effectively with the trailing vertebra flesh tendril leading out of the frame, and it keeps a constant sized notating that the tentacle extends far beyond what we can see, and is likely attached to or part of a much larger creature.

Now interestingly enough, in both situations players responded to the creature with RUN, FUCKING RUN as their primary response. This is a good thing because this means the fear was conveyed effectively enough. However a key difference in approach is that in Threshold, there were far more responses that not only conveyed the players panicking, but also posts detailing player tactics in response to a perceived threat.

In Miracle, the monster’s hands extended and began to grasp at us. The players all unanimously decided to get the fuck out of there. Plain and simple. This is not a particularly good thing. This means there was not enough context in the situation to properly concoct a specific or targeted means of escape, and the players shouting RUN are merely responding to the author making explicit cues for escaping instead of an actual plan.

2/4
>>
Looking at Threshold, players were immediately thinking of ways to get out of the situation using their wings, going for doors or perceived safe paths, and most importantly /they were setting objectives for themselves and other characters in the room based on the perceived threat/. This is a SIGNIFICANTLY better response and approach to threat assessment on the QMs part. Now, what happened? Why did the players have that option? When you think about it, in Miracle, the QM had no pretense for how death would be handled and how damage would be incurred. The players had no pretense for reacting as they did, while in Threshold (a quest ran by the proverbial Pony Grim Reaper) the players, who were likely expecting death, decided to fight against the threat as best as they could. I have one theory why this approach was chosen over the Miracle approach which was RUN and say WITTY ONE LINERS from the Qm’s odd choice of wording.

Context.

3/4
>>
In miracle, there is never any context within the first couple of threads. We were dropped off in the middle of some god forsaken land, told there’s a M I R A C L E at the top of a tower, and we are applejack for some reason. No context at all, and we are also expected to extrapolate information from dark as fuck panels and speech WRITTEN BURN HELP LIKE HURT RED THIS COPPER LEGS FOR SCREAM PARTICLE SOME FUCK BRICK REASON. In essence, the players are on a ‘haunted house’ ride of sorts, waiting for the next set of clues to take them to the next set piece. No reason to act. Additionally, the writer did not use any visceral clue or cues to help the player figure out the emotions and the feelings of the character they are playing as.

Threshold approached from a different direction though, it instead focused on providing context and player agency. It was a more forward presentation, and that made the players focus on more forward approaches to threats as well as more productive thinking. How it did this was it used its visual elements in tandem with textual ones, using the visual elements to provide the scene, and the textual elements to provide the context and the feelings present in the scene. As a result, we get a more detailed experience and players are able to build more on it.

I think this is a critical connection that cyoa writers and players need to make, and that is the overall level of interactivity in a quest. The more context the players are provided through visuals or text, the more readily they can make detailed oriented decisions. If I had to make a penultimate suggestion to the writer of Threshold, I would suggest making full use of the 2000 character limit and to also avoid fragmenting the information in the frustrating way it seems to be consistently presented in.

Hope this helps.

>>
>>28910630
miracle gets too bogged down in its own "mysteriousness" but doesn't provide anything to really back it up so the spectacle of it falls flat.
>>
>>28910571
So you don't like the design of the monster?

>>28910573
So it's good that Inept didn't give the players a way to react to a monster cracking down through the ceiling and assaulting everyone?

Maybe Threshold got more detailed replies because Inept is a well known QM, with a fanbase that includes players that make detailed posts?

You bring up how more creative and detailed the Threshold plans where, maybe give us the actual example instead of ambiguously describing it.
If I remember the scene from threshold correctly, there where things like throwing chairs and dragging ponies out.
The reason for this seems more in the detailed background of threshold, while Miracle is just a dark almost sterile room.

>>28910577
You really think people care less about death in their CYOA just because the QM is not Inept?

>>28910580
I agree with the lack of context and explanation in miracle. However, I disagree with the conveying of emotions. We as players need to finally start to make sure we convey the emotions of the character we play. If such things come from the QM it gets way to close to railroading territory.
It's less of a QM and more of player problem.

Seems like you got a decent point here, but then again, as long your players don't give you context on how the character would feel in such a situation you can barely get any emotions across, without relying on rails.

>the writer of Threshold
Is that a typo on your part?
How about this, the more the players give a clear and defined line of emotions and thoughts of a character, the more the QM can bring them into the posts. This is very important in the early parts of the CYOA, and the reason why many QMs use it as part of their character creation nowadays.

I guess this is easily avoided, if you always just bring a premade character to the quest and stick to it's personality, like Hijack for example.
Cammy fails to put the players on emotional rails, and falls into the plank slate circle.

I played both of those quests and I can tell you immediately why they got different responces, and it is the part you didn't include: the text. The giant spoke like an eldritch alien horror and scared the shit out of me. Run back to the tower was all I think Applejack would be able to manage in that situation. Inept's creature did not speak, so it was less alien, despite its appearance. I suggested trying to save people. Come to think of it, that's another aspect that differentiates them: if there is anyone to save or if we should just run.
And if you want to get into meta, Inept's monster was meant to test us and Cammy's monster was meant to make us shit ourselves, and we reacted appropriately to each. Both QMs got what they were looking for.

Alright: First of all, I have to call you a dick for apparently implying that if I was a REAL QM I'd send my learned skill back in time. I was a shitty artist back then, what a surprise, what am I supposed to do about it. This is how I'd draw that scene now, if its worth anything.

Second, as was already said those had drastically different objectives. The giant was intended to be an introduction to the character itself, the atmosphere, and what I intended to do with the rest of the quest. The character is (Spoiler warning) Childish in how it acts, being called "The masturbating child" by someone else later on. The rest comes with it: Be careful with how you act, be prepared to run, and /Don't be alone/. Immediately after what happens here AJ is helped by Quibra, and from then on every victory over anything involves teamwork. Working together is, after all, heavily related to Miracle's main themes.
And if I remember correctly one of the things that I had in mind when making that scene was "If the players don't like what'll come, better tell them early what it is."
This approach may or may not be flawed-- Hail is to a degree a test of this, hence why its intro "chapter" is taking so long.

Third, in this you are ignoring text altogether. Text conveyed the way the giant acted, that those were hands ready to reach for Applejack at any given moment, how fuckhuge of a threat the giant was and how it didn't even talk with its mouth. 'Antinatural' is the giant's main trait, with 'Dangerous' being a close second.

Don't get me wrong, I respect Inept a lot both as a QM and a pixel artist, but we had drastically different aims in this scene and my level of skill is so far apart from that time that critiquing it now is useless.

There are other things you said that I'll reply to, but I ought to get breakfast first.

>"So, Anonymous has not only deserted us, but has also invaded another world?"
>"That seems to be the truth of the matter. He was on guard duty in the Eastern Tower—the portal room— and then he was simply gone. I doubt that he still resides in this realm."
>"He always seemed like a foolish dreamer," The Grandmaster drawled. His hand curled into a fist, and a flare of ancient light gleamed from the slits in his helmet. "Nevertheless, I cannot hope to drown my fury completely."
>The Grandmaster rose from his chair, and shook his head. Ooeo The Blade twitched instinctively, and stepped backwards, away from the silver-clad warlord.

>"I give these soldiers power—more than any other king would ever even think to give his men. And yet, they still plant seeds of disappointment within my heart."
>"It is tragic, indeed," Ooeo replied. His eyes traced along the tiles on the floor. The Grandmaster spun in a circle, before dramatically crashing back onto his throne in a sprawled position.
>"Whatever. Send one of the Elite members to either bring him back; or slice his throat."

>Ooeo The Blade shifted his posture and coughed, his eyes now boring into a chandelier on the ceiling.
>"Is this not all of the ill news that you shall infect me with this morning?"
>"I apologize, for there is more, sir. We do not know which gate he has gone through."
>"Is it not as simple as detecting which gate has the highest temperature? They heat up when recently used, if I am not mistaken."
>"You are not mistaken, sire," Ooeo said. "Never have you dipped into the oceans of mistake, in fact," Ooeo continued in a buttery tone.

>"I get it, you dense maggot. Bah! Must you explain everything as if you were an incompetent kindergarten teacher?!" The Grandmaster yelled, sliding his hands down the sides of his helmet.
>The entire castle trembled.
>Beads of sweat bloomed on Ooeo's forehead. He closed his eyes shamefully, and the aroma of urine invaded the room.

>"I-I extend my sincere apologies, sire," Ooeo stuttered, bowing submissively. "M-my best suggestion considering Anonymous would be to wait for him to use his Amulet of Assistance. He is hardly self-sustaining, and I am sure that he will give up on this game of his eventually."
>"Yes, yes. He is a worm, and he is abandoning his homely soil to venture onto the rocks. He will return, or he will dry up, and crumble, and be scattered in the winds.
>The Grandmaster admired his own analogy for a few seconds. "We have more pressing matters to discuss," The Grandmaster finally announced, his helmet radiating with energy.

Hah. I was lukewarm until that part. That sounds pretty funny. The MC sounds pretty generic downtrodden 'I want to help people' person which isn't that bad as long as the focus is on the trails and tribulations.

That rule surprising people seems weird when it's been completely standard for centuries.

I see a lot of people arguing over concept ideas, but what really matters is the execution, especially with CYOAs, where player input shapes the quest.

You can make great quest sound terrible and terrible quests sound great by reducing them to their core concepts.

Also, does it really matter if it's been done before as a concept. Sure some ideas have been overused, but the collaboration between QM and players shapes each quest into something distinct...usually. If it goes well anyways.

You're living a delusion. There's two ways a meeting between humans and magical talking ponies would "realistically" go.

The first is containment. Say only one pony lands, or they touch down in the middle of nowhere, or they land someplace where there's a larger presence of military or government personnel than regular people. In this case, the ponies get captured and the whole thing gets covered up. I don't mean to sound all /pol/ or /x/ here, but you're joking if you think any government would openly share information about a confirmed alien species landing on Earth. Our government won't even tell us what's really in Area 51 (really as in whatever aircraft or explosives they develop, not as in alien spaceships or whatever). At best, anybody who sees the ponies gets conveniently ignored by the media and becomes that crackpot who writes conspiracy books decades later, if not sworn to secrecy or killed outright at worst. The ponies themselves are most likely imprisoned and probed for information about their home indefinitely. Bad end.

The other option is widespread exposure. Let's say the ponies arrive all around the world, or in some heavily populated area where there's no ignoring their presence. In that case, the media propaganda machine fires up and ignores that the ponies are cute, cuddly embodiments of friendship. News reporters grill them, religious leaders denounce them as demons, late night talk show hosts make jokes at their expense for months. Before long, they're viewed with suspicion, if not outright hostility. Even if humans and ponies live in peace for a time, eventually there'll be some kind of terrorist event or frightening revelation about magic or investigators "going missing" in Equestrian land, and the war between ponies and humans will begin. Bad end.

Sorry, Anon. I hate it too, but that's just how it is. A single human or a small group of them might want to talk to the colorful alien horses, but humanity will gladly kill them.
>>
>>28924752
Hey, I don't rag on you for liking something I don't. Humans in Equestria aren't for everyone. I'm not even antihuman. I'd love to see humans used some other way, but people only seem to want to use them one way.

>>
>>28924853

Maybe if the media was the only source of information on the subject. But idiots trust social media even more than the news media, and if you have the news media telling you ponies are evil and meanwhile some guy on reddit or tumblr or some shit is posting pics of his waifu's pussy and describing how amazing their relationship is, who are you going to believe?
>>
>>28924874
Then why did Trump win?
>>
>>28924865
>There's no government on Earth that wouldn't view aliens with suspicion simply by virtue of their motives and level of technology being unknown.

You're missing a huge step in logic between being suspicious of something and locking them away in a top secret military base. When I see a nigger walking down the street towards me late at night I'm suspicious of him too because I don't know his motives, but that doesn't mean I kidnap him and lock him in my basement to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone. I watch him casually and mind my own fucking business.

That's exactly what I'm objecting to though. The fact that it has happened before does not mean that it is the only way it could happen. You offer two possibilites, nothing more. Further historical precidents only reinforce that your theories are possible outcomes, not that they are the only options.

Yet NASA is willing to tell the world they found alien life on mars if it comes to it.

>Our government won't even tell us what's really in Area 51

>Before long, they're viewed with suspicion, if not outright hostility.
Massive assumption.
>>
>>28924930
>>
>>28924892
You're forgetting two key details:
1. Niggers are something everyone knows about and understands.
2. The government has been trying to persuade us to live peacefully with niggers for decades.

Colorful space ponies are beings that nobody has ever encountered. They could be dangerous. They could teach people things the government doesn't want them knowing. They could be carrying technology that they don't want the likes of ISIS or North Korea getting hold of. The only way the powers that be would allow ponies to casually exist alongside humanity is after they extract all the information they can from ponies in order to be sure that nobody else gets it first. That's how every military works.

>>28924909
Throughout human history, when two groups meet for the first time, it usually ends badly for at least one side, if not both. What makes you think a spacefaring or dimensionfaring species of sapient beings that are clearly not human would be welcomed with open arms when not even slightly different types of humans usually get that courtesy? Remember, the modern attitude of accepting everyone regardless of who they are is a new and, to many, revolutionary idea. Historically, the only way to be accepted is to assimilate as much as possible, and even minor differences often made that difficult. Being an entirely different species from an entirely different world would be much worse.

>trying to inject realism into interactive cartoon horse adventures

All that's stopping you from making a "horse shows up on earth" story/quest that's actually goofy fun instead of a horribly depressing tale that ends in dissection is your own imagination and limitations. Suspension of disbelief is a powerful tool.

For instance, you could have the horse appear in some nerd's backyard and make it about keeping horse disguised in increasingly comical ways while living a pseudo-normal life.

>nerd puts leash on the horse and walks it around town, saying it's a weird lookin dog
>put a trenchcoat, hat and groucho marx glasses on horse and say it's a cousin from Hurbledurbleczekistan who has inner ear problems that give them trouble standing on two legs for long periods of time
>hang a sign around horse's neck that reads "Normal Horse, Pay no Attention"

Every so often a sharp-eyes townsperson almost sees through their ruse and the players have to figure out how to explain why horse is not a horse.

>"Excuse me sir, is that weird looking burro you've placed a small doll resembling a colombian carrying coffee sacks upon actually a colorful talking horse of the magical variety?"
"Pfffwhat? No, this is... my nephew. He likes to act like a horse everywhere we go, as he is severely autistic."
>"I'm a mare you moron..."
"Ssshh."
>"Uh, I mean... Neigh."
>"Ah, I see. Sorry for the accusation, I appear to have been mistaken. Be a good horse, little Timmy."
>"Nicker."

And that's just one possibility. If you go the "horses appear all over earth" route, you can have it so the that the world's reaction to discovering magical horses are real is giving a hearty shrug about it. From there, the quest can be about being a cultural researcher (on either side) trying to find out more about the other's customs and lifestyle. Or a scientist trying to tool out how to combine science and magic. Or setting up a interspecial dating service.

The possibilities are endless.

I will then try to put slightly less details on my ponies when I do get to drawing them. As for the black background, it's a stylistic choice. Crystal Warlock had entirely black background and foreground with only color outlines, representing the fact that Aurora was practically alone and suffering through a horrible situation. In Crystal Symphony only the background is black because Aurora is now in a better control of the situation and there are far more ponies who are helping her along the way. That was the intention, at least.

What dead/abandoned quests would you like to see return and if you had to pick, which "active" QM would you like to take the reins?
>>

CurseQuest.
Anyone but Hijacker.

Colorblind.
Bathwaterhero
>>
>>28926586
bathwaterhero is already doing an CYOA, it's called 11-54, he is doing it right now.
>>

Give curse to Mint. He'll replace all he darkness with cuddles.
>>
>>28926596
Yes I know that. But this question is of which dead cyoa would you like to see run by an active QM.
>>
>>28926596
Yes, that's why Anon picked him. The question said you had to pick an active QM to take over.
>>
>>28926607
It says "active," anon. By that I assume he meant 'around but not running'
>>
>>28926613
I assumed it meant they didn't have to actively have a thread up right now but just be "active".

I know it technically reached a conclusion from Wolvan but I'd like to see Pleeny take a crack at it. I think he'd do good.

I've said it before but I would love to see a Res run Galloping Steel. He's the king of SoL if you ask me.

>>28926586
I would rather see anyone other than Bath take over Colorblind.
>>
>>28926641
I agree with all of this.
>>
>>28926641
Agreed on the last point. Bath is definitely not the QM to run colorblind.
>>
>>28926671
Why not? his style fits the tone and feel for it quite well.
>>
>>28926675
Sorry Psker, I really disagree.

As much as I would prefer the poner to be happy, I have to agree with this. Colorblind never really was a happy quest.

Nah, lets see cammy run coltquest.
I'm legitimately interested how he'd turn a pedobait lewdquest into a nebulous thought experiment.

Alright.
You are Emerald.
After being separated from the rest of the party because you were too much of a wimp to keep up, you took refuge in the city of Plotopolis, which is currently surrounded by zombies seeking the legendary Guffin of Macs.
Saddly, this is subjecting you to an horrible fate.
Cock withdrawal.
You've been going for the local hospital to get the doctors to give you anal injections to treat it, but it seems like they aren't willing to provide their services any longer.
You react calmly to it and begin formulating a plan.
What is the plan?
>>
>>28927096
Lock yourself in a room and detox.
>>
>>28927096
Find the Guffin

But first get molested. We need it bad.

Sorry Cammy but Emerald is missing his Amulet. He's going to need that to bribe any docs.

You check the trash can. It's filled with photos of you for some reason.
After considering your options, you decide to acquire the Guffin and use its power to force everyone to give you anal injections.
ANd illegalize balls too. Screw balls.
In the way, you find a group of zombies, and use the defence method nature gave you, second only to crying like a little bitch.
Running like a little bitch.
You find an empty room and lock the door behind you. Sadly, there's still like fifteen windows that the zombies break through with ease.
Your amulet calls you a retard while you think of another plan.
/Being/ a little bitch.
You grab the closest zombie and force its dick into your mouth, sucking it with fiery passion.
https://files.catbox.moe/v38y0y.png
But your succ is too powerful, and the dick comes off the zombie.
You are now surrounded by four confused zombies and an angry, castrated zombie.
>>
>>28927225
It just keeps happening
>>
>>28927247
Continue being a little bitch and suck on the zambambo dicc like a pacifier.

Alternatively, give them the super hot succ of dicc, and basipally, we're a buttslut
>>
I feel like a lot of people play Coltquest and then the same kind bash it here ironically.
>>
>>28927247
I'm not seeing any lore. Ask the zombies what manner of magic keeps them alive and which insane genius of a bygone era invented it. Then ask how many peices their soul is currently in.
>>
>>28927280
Sounds about par for the course for this lot.
>>
>>28927247
Spit the dick out at the zombie and apologize.

You suck on the dicc as a pacifier until you are calm and spit it, sweating profusely and trying not to panic.
You offer your anus, but it seems like your slootamancy isn't effective on the undead.
In a desperate bid, you ask them why are they zombies.
This seems to confuse all but one, who smiles brightly.
It tells you of its people and how it's been like six billion zombies or something.
The others tell it to knock it off, but the speaking zombie is unaffected. It keeps talking even as its jaw and tongue fall off.
Youi are now surrounded by four arguing zombies and a happy zombie. No one is paying you any atention, and this may be your one chance to escape.
In the other hand, your pride as a slut has been insulted by their disinterest.
>>
>>28927247
is there a way out of the room? Maybe we should offer the zombies our butt.
>>
>>28927335
run out of the room and live to be a slut another day.

Why the hell did A Foal‘s Adventure transfer over to 8 c h a n?
>>
>>28927335
let's leave. We can impress something less undead with out skills.
>>
>>28927362
Why are you only now asking this?

>>28927335
Go find someone less undead to use our succ-ing skills on. If we don't get that injection quick, we'll go into anal withdrawal

You go away in search of the living to find someone to succ, but it seems like this neighbourhood is being overtaken by zombies who have insanely long backstories.
Jeez.
You run away to try and gind some peace from the endless talking, and eventually an alley to hide in.
There's three doors hidden a pile of trash bags.
>>
>>28927450
The anal door could mean anal injections. Should we try that one?
