I want to start with philosophy, where do I start and where do I head to from that?
Please, keep the "muh greeks starter pack" jokes to a minimum, I really need guidance here.
Start with the Greeks.
Pick a subject first. Starting with the Greeks usually gives people an idea about the history of philosophy and the evolution of the questions being asked. If you have something specific in mind then maybe someone can give specific advice. If not, get yer ass to Miletus and start with dem muddafuggin Greeks.

A lot of the good stuff sort of comes from reading and interpreting papers directly, but discussions and material on those papers can be equally great
Some of my favourites reads are Obedience to Authority (Milgram) and Beyond Freedom and Dignity (Skinner). They are a bit on the dated side, especially Skinner, since he was the last of the radical behaviourists and still had a locked-away view of cognition, but he paved the way for Bandura and his Triarchic theory, which was a great step into a nuanced point between the tensions of the medical model and the psychological/social models. Eysenck's work on memory and personality, Seligman on happiness and Dominic Murphy on the philosophy of delusions('Psychiatry in the scientific image' I think) are also great
What does /lit/ think of him?
Good. But only as good as you consider his prose

What do you think of this thread ?
>>8253082
Good. He was also aware of racial differences and despised immigration which made his writing better. "Niggerman" is a great name for a cat.
Holy shit, the real world fucking sucks. How can you fucking stand reality when you read fiction like Harry Potter?
Go to school to learn magic like shooting fire balls.
Vs
Go to school to learn grammer and math.
Fuck the real world.
>>8253080
if you think learning grammer and math are the worst of the real world youd better just go ahead and get off mr bones wild ride now while you still have some innocence left

>Get to learn how to control the way others understand you
>Given a glimpse into an entire alternate way of understanding the universe
But no fuck that, I want to have to write a 36-inch essay about all the possible ways newt eyes are and aren't useful.
Dude, we built rail guns out of disposable cameras in eleventh grade physics. Fuck that British twats fireballs, we were hitting each other in the face with jets of plasma.
How "difficult" is this?
I was able to make it through Ulysses fine (except Oxen of the Sun. Fuck that chapter). I don't want to be reading a plot summary of every chapter when I finish them.

Well touché, my fellow sexist.
What a huge diappointment. It took about 60 pages of extreme tedium of slogging through archaic 19th century vernacular and the entire book so far has just been a conversation and dialog between two guys. I mean, I have nothing against dialog, but it's just tedious and frustrating to read. It has some interesting facts, but there's hardly anything truly informative or eye opening about it. So some people held a satanic mass and killed some children, this is what I slogged through 60 pages to get to?
>>8252873
I think visual media has killed these kinds of works.
>>8252873
>60 pages
>an hour's worth of reading
>tedious
>>8253029
I get tired easily and it is not 1 hour of reading, it's taken me days. An easier book may take a matter of hours.
How do I /plot/? I fucking can't think of a story myself.
Start with a literary/existential problem that interests you and write the solution
