How does one move on from a spell of Nihilism?
Any good recs of something to read to help kill it? Or should I embrace it?
>inb4 stop being a faggot
By reading Hermann Hesse or Buddhist/Hinduist phylosophy

Thanks.
bump. more recs, I beg.
Any Western works to check out (not including Hesse)?
For some reason I cannot find the motivation to read books longer than 200 pages no matter how good the book is. I have e.g. read The Death of Ivan Ilyich and I loved it but I always lose moivation when I try to read War and Peace. What should I do?
Small goals. 20 pages a day, 50 pages a day.
You'll slowly get used to it
War and Peace has a really slow start though desu.
It took me like 150-200 pages to get into it.
Tips for reading Crane?
nice digits here >>9177777

Read each line carefully the way he repeats the syllables in just one couplet is breathtaking if you pay attention. No one writes like Crane. No one.
I got the Scribd one-week free trial. What should I download before I cancel the subscription?
I'm mainly looking for self improvement kind of things, like Art of War.
I have already downloaded Art of War if that wasn't clear.
>>9178272
The Art of War is not a self-improvement book, it's a manual on ancient generalship. If you are not using it for that purpose, or to study it as a historical document then it is pointless reading it.
>self-improvement
>Art of War
Wut? Maybe if you're a Zhou Dynasty general, OP.
Masterpiece.
That was EXACTLY how I felt about my mother!

What did I think of it and why?
Weird question OP
not my favorite work of his, some good feels tho. Interesting structure that ultimately goes nowhere.

>What did I think of it and why?
you thought naughty thoughts and because you're a perv.
How's the writing career coming, /lit/?
I'm about 40% of the way through writing this set of novellas. I can get it done this week and have it published and edited before the end of next week, but it's agonizing.
Fuck self-imposed deadlines.
I'ts over. I haven't written anything in months. I don't know why I ever deluded myself into thinking that I could do anything. I don't enjoy it, or anything really.
I have an idea for a story and I have it outlined and ready to be drafted, but I want to move straight on to the sequel because I've given myself so much foresight into the lore of the story. I'm focusing on the sequel more than the actual piece.

I like the way this one looks. I hear Pevear and Volokhonsky aren't very good at translating anyone besides Tolstoy though
How do I make the Philosopher's Scone?
>>9176518
mix equal part of feminine and masculine, marry them, wait, be reborn
>>9176518
Scones are easy, almost like biscuits. Mix your your dries with your butter bits for about 5 minutes, add your liquid (some with egg, usually just half\half) JUST to incorporate (about 30 seconds) then throw in some corn, mix 10 more seconds or so, shape, bake at about 425F for about 25 mins-- viola!
>>9176518
You can't make one... You must go on a perilous quest to the fey land of San Francisco, where legends tell of an ancient Starbucks. After fighting the faggy host of hipsters guarding the relic, you may open the covert cabinet wherein the expired scone of philosophers rests.
You have been born again. You are allowed to read only one book in your entire life. Which book would (the current) you choose to bring (the reborn) you as close to enlightenment about the nature of reality, humanity, society, culture, politics, history, science, etc. as possible? You can assume that you are somehow able to understand what you are reading.

Is this what you read after you finish all your JK Rowlings?
I guess it's about prophecy, or atavism. Upon re reads i've come to like the book less and less. Melquíades and José Arcadio Buendía were my favorite duo; but then comes government and it all goes to shit. I don't like that everyone in this book has to be a cunt
