I believe it's not really that common among normal transgender people. Most of the trannies I know are quite level headed. The regressive left on the other hand is eager to call anyone with unholistic racial or gender preferences transphobic or racist.

my father committed suicide 7 years ago now (was in 8th grade) and that really messed me up socially
always had a super conservative family, that made me very sexually repressed
was third in a large family, I always felt a bit disenfranchised and my parents were mean enough to drive me away from a relationship with them
but underneath it all I was always actually gay as long as I can remember. In 6th grade people made fun of me because I crossed my legs. Always had trouble making friends with girls because I was scared of how much I just wanted them for sex, not a relationship

that's just the way it is mate
I was both born this way and shaped this way and I don't try and pretend it's any different
I advise you find a therapist who is not judgmental but is also not going to lie to you just to make you feel more legitimate

Get a therapist who has experience with LGBT & specifically trans clients, but doesn't list it as their ONLY specialty. You want someone who knows the shit you're going through, but doesn't fixate on it, and after seeing like 6 therapists this is my best suggestion.

If in US/Canada you can go on the Psychology Today website and find therapists in your area that address whatever issue(s) you have. Look under their "specialty" (eating disorders, sexuality, trauma, whatever) and choose one.
