all this led to the Germans being overextended and meant they couldn't exert as much pressure on the soviets as they wanted to. Lend lease of course helped but the allies main contribution to helping the Soviets hold off the Nazis was by fighting them on other fronts and draining their resources.

Permanent revolution is the opposite of Stalin's Communism in one country in some ways, basically it was the theory that instead of the menshevik idea of having to have a bourgeoisie capitalist period the workers could skip over that, get rid of the bourgeoisie and do that themselves at the same time as building socialism.

sort of, Trotsky criticisms of Stalin are pretty bang on, but his proposed alternatives are pretty much just as bad. He went full in on repressing the shit out of people, see the invasion of menshevik georgia and supression of the ukranian insurgent army that had actually saved the red army.

In the modern day especially here in Briton commies sperg over him since their counterargument to the horrors of stalin is essentially that stalin wasnt a real commmunist and trotsky should have been leader.
