DB9 is great for discovery though - found loads of good stuff I'd never have found in a million years of trawling discogs and listening to sets. There community is largely comprised of actual DJs/collectors/crate diggers so there's a lot of knowledge to soak up.

Db9 is hard to get into because they disallow users from giving out invites in class restricted forums. I was an Elite TM on WCD, and I never once saw someone break that rule in the TM invite thread. People would often offer Pedros invites there, but I have never seen someone even hint that they had Db9 invites to hand out. It's one of those sites you quite literally have to get into by making friends in an IRC channel, because there's no pathway to official recruitment.

They all serve different purposes.

CG: B-movies and 'so bad it's good' type stuff.
SC: Highly obscure stuff
Cinematik: General non-mainstream movies, usually in higher quality
Gormogon: Not familiar but I've never seen it mentioned in the same breath as the above before.

I don't think any of them are particularly difficult to get into, although if they are it's not because they cultivate secrecy, it's because they're obscure and tend to attract the kind of people who don't hang out in tracker circles.

KG really is the gold standard, though. They have all of the above plus more and the depth of their library makes them probably one of the most important historical archives of film in the world. They also have lots of books on film and academic/theoretical topics, a great collection of music from around the world, some of which isn't on the music trackers, and a whole bunch of other great stuff you wont find elsewhere.

If they ever do open up again it's anyone's guess where they recruit. Could be other film trackers... could be cabal trackers. Your best bet would probably be to get active on the above trackers and make some friends.

If you need to watch TV show episodes soon after they air, only Scene moves that fast so I guess it makes no difference whether you get it from BTN or Scene, though of course Scene will have slightly faster pre-times.

Other than that, P2P content is going to be better. That doesn't mean there isn't bad P2P content, it just means that when you take racing out of the equation, there's going to be groups that are capable of delivering much better quality.

With movies especially, the top P2P encodes blow Scene encodes out of the water, and they usually only take 2-3 days after the Scene Blu-Ray encodes are released

If you often pirate games, go for GazelleGames. There are many games that are DRM-free through GOG available there, yet the Scene only releases cracked Steam versions for some reason

I have BTN but I tend to use it differently than I use ipt or torrentleech. If I want a single episode of something scene released I usually grab it off ipt and hit/run it instead of doing the work to get it on my seedbox from BTN.

When I want a full season pack I usually grab it from BTN though. I have a http server set up on my seedbox so I can just stream anything from there using Kodi. It's like having my own personally curated version of Netflix.

I don't really care much about getting super amazing encodes since I just watch on my 43 inch LG TV I got from walmart for $300. Scene releases may not be the best but they are consistent, except when they're done by faggy groups but I know better than to leech that stuff.

All the GOG stuff gets uploaded on ipt too... Eventually I'll get GazelleGames but it would be used for obscure stuff not new/popular stuff I could easily get off ipt or something.
