I'm about to start trying to implement ads on an iPhone game I'm making. What framework is best?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I want banner ads at the bottom and fullscreen ads between every second life like most games seem to have nowadays.
>>
>advertising is an deprecated form of income
how about just making a good game, that people will pay for, instead of making yet another welfare-based game?
>>
>>55413722
Can't answer what framework is the best, but limit ads to only be viewed to reward players. Watch the GDC talk that the devs of Crossy Road gave, their monetization methodology is one of the best in the mobile industry.

>Ads are optional
>Viewing ads will reward the player
>All cash shop items are cosmetic
>Large majority of the cash shop is attainable without spending real money

Now just make a good game.

>>55414025
Cuts off a huge demographic from playing, ie Kids. Kids will make the dev more money by sharing it with friends/schoolmates, and continued play (and thus continued ad revenue).

Air is conductor only if there is sufficient airflow. Otherwise it is a very, VERY good insulator.

How feasible, or perhaps present, is the idea of controlling a device physically if it's connected to a web?

For instance, could a mobile phone company build cellphones and make some of them break on command, or call a single number all at once? Could a car company drive your car for you? This is an idea that I often see in science fiction. Could this be used as a weapon, like selling something for a great price at a given country in need of it until it is dependent on it somehow. Could an antivirus service blow the computer of a hacker from afar? Or some government to not only map where a computer is, but to control it and use its memory for a bigger plan?

I never go above 8 so I'm content with just 16gb.

I get that people like to either future proof their PC or do video editing, which I've seen take 12gb of ram, but for games and programming I feel 8gb is more than enough and spend the 30 extra dollars on a better graphics card instead.

What do you prefer?

Muh 32 gigs for VMs

Certain games can use a goodly bit these days. I would consider 16gb bare minimum at this point simply due to shit like GTA V eating 9gb.

Try using a 3G USB dongle:
>Windows
Takes half an hour to recognize it and I have to install some shady bundled crapware to get it working
>Ubuntu
Connect it, it just works OOTB.

Try to play music from my phone (Android):
>Windows
Tried Windows Media Player , I can see the audio files but can’t play them (funny fact, the MTP protocol used by Android is developed by Mirosoft)
>Ubuntu
It just works using the default music player.

Try to get good font rendering:
>Windows
Thinker with Cleartype to get barely good looking fonts, no luck with metro shitware, fonts look like crap.
>Ubuntu
Best font rendering on the market OOTB.

Try to use a printer (HP)
>Windows
Windows updates takes hours to download the driver only to fail, I have to manually download the driver.
>Ubuntu
The printer is recognized automatically.

Why Windows can’t fucking work for simple tasks, thanks a lot street shitters.

Fingerprinting is a new way of tracking you across websites, it's not theoretical, it's being done right now by companies like Google.
Because unlike cookie based tracking you can't defeat it just by disabling cookies.
There is currently NO FOOLPROOF DEFENCE against fingerprinting (except quitting the Internet).
Attempts have been made but the technology is just too new.

Google releases limited hangout of how much they know about you:
https://news.slashdot.org/story/16/06/29/2038257/googles-my-activity-reveals-how-much-it-knows-about-you
>Oh, they're just remembering what YouTube videos I watched, nothing creepy about that, I already knew they were doing it!
>I guess all those people who fear tracking really are just conspiracy theorists!

ReCAPTCHA probably contains fingerprinting code:
https://archive.is/9K5gs
This means that the majority of 4chan users could be being fingerprinted, and Google might know about your shitposting habits.
To fix this you can get a pass (which allows you to be tracked by 4chan in a different way), or run 4chan with the no JavaScript CAPTCHA (use 4chan X to make 4chan without JS bearable).
Note: The no JavaScript CAPTCHA is broken for a lot of people.

Daily reminder to do all your Amazon / eBay / LinkedIn / botnet shit in a completely separate browser to your Googling or buying shit.
It's currently the ONLY way to truly defend against fingerprint tracking.
Double points if you have each browser running in a different VM with a different OS.
Triple points if you have each browser's VM configured with a different VPN.
The Tor Browser Bundle is still susceptible to many fingerprinting attacks that can uncover your true OS and browser.
Spoofing your user-agent may work, in the short term, provided you use a different user-agent for EVERY site.
Don't expect this to work forever, it may not even work now.

How hard would it be for Google to do a timing attack on 4chan to correlate the captchas being submitted with posts appearing on the boards for the people using the noscript Captcha?

Just spent my last 2 hours figuring out how to install my printer on Linux Mint. What the fuck man, why you should use an OS that are similar to Windows without professional softwares and proper drivers. I don't get it.
