Just spent my last 2 hours figuring out how to install my printer

Never used mint, but never had a problem printing in linux. CUPS always detected the printer just fine.

first time i tried linux back in 2004, one of the first things i tried was my printer
it was a lexmark z31 parallel printer, it was auto-detected and worked immediately
it was easier to set up than it was in windows

Brother just werks. Better drivers than OSX.

Same as the others here, for me printer and scanner are recognized immediately. What printer is that and what did you have to do?

Mint is similar in the looks category. Bottom taskbar with a "start" menu and quick launch.
