Last time on Uncanny Avengers, Magneto killed the Red Skull, which somehow turned him into Cthulu. Can the Avengers and X-Men unite to stop him? How many different artists can we get to draw one series? Can the characters of Remender's saga survive their greatest threat of all: Marvel editorial?
This is SIXIS. Brace yourselves. It's kinda terrible, but also kind of fun.

this broke the remender
This dialogue reminds me of the kind of shit I tried to write when a baby Uncanny Anon saw Firefly and tried to write a story like that. It's so obnoxious.
Will you be continuing into Duggan's Uncanny when Rage of Ultron is over, Uncanny Anon?
Y'know, maybe I'd give more of a shit about what's happening if we actually saw any of these hate riots, instead of just being told about them.
>>86961365
I haven't read any of Duggan's series, so I wasn't planning to initially, but as we get closer I'm thinking I might.
One thing Remender still nails is his issue titles.
>>86961398
Might be a good idea to do Standoff as well.
Duggan's Uncanny is great.
>>86961426
I think I read the first issue, but got irritated by the fact that it seemed to be "Deadpool and Some Other Guys". I'll give it another shot.
Quentin Quire is Reddit: The Person. Also, I find it kind of funny that these three characters are just sorta hanging out here while all the shit that happened in the last issue occurred just outside.
LEAVE EVAN ALONE
HE'S A GOOD BOY
Did Rogue and Xavier ever have as special a relationship as seen here? I don't recall him treating her much differently than the other X-Men in what I've read.

If you squint, the whole Red Skull being reborn as a monstrosity of pure psionic hatred almost works in the same way Sunfire being reborn as pure energy did.
Wait, where the hell was Sunfire during Axis?

>>86961462
The sparseness of Wade is actually welcome. There's a nice clear development of Wade and Rogue's relationship from issue #1 to now. The last issue of Deadpool's CWII tie-in has her in it too.
I know a lot of people didn't like this, but I thought it was pretty fun. Seeing all the heroes turn into stereotypical mustache twirling villains was a good concept, and I thought it was executed fairly well. The biggest mistake was making Captain Falcon's introduction during it. Not the best first impression.

INHUMANS GET OUT REEEEEEEEEE
I really am quite fond of the first act of Axis. I'd rather have a really quick, solid Red Onslaught engagement than something that drags on forever and turned such an awesome villain into event fatigue.
>>86961435
Remender has a serious boner for mind-controlling Rogue and Wanda, doesn't he?
Remember that awesome flash-forward in Uncanny Avengers where the Red Onslaught ruled the world and hunted down mutants with Stark-brand Nimrods? Yeah, this is as close as you're going to get to that. Breevort says "fuck you".
I like that Red Skull took time out of his busy schedule to make sure his Stark Sentinels had the proper Red SkullTM branding.

They could probably adapt to fight anybody given enough time, they just don't have the exact powerset and specs for these dudes since they weren't involved in Civil War in any significant way. Gives the villains a brief chance to mess them up before they can.

>>86962640

>>86962834I'm just glad we got to see Remender do one last story with Evan, even if it was the inevitable face-heel turn.
>>86962834
I don't find it heartbreaking. The fact that an inversion spell was required is proof that Evan is too much of a good guy to go full Apocalypse.

I've got to say I really do like what Axis does with its three-act form. The classic super hero event structure always feels like too little story for the 7-9 issues plus tie-ins that inevitably follow.
Axis might feel a bit too much like a bait-and-switch but at the very least the plot keeps moving. It never feels like they're just stalling for time.

I was thinking about storytiming it a few days ago.
This could be an excuse to do so.
Y'know, I think I'd like AXIS a lot more if the Inversion literally inverted everyone's personalities, not just their morality. So, all the pro-cohabitation members of the Unity Squad become all "kill the humans, race war now" etc. Instead everyone's just blanket evil.
>>86963200

It's a really fun standalone.
And that was AXIS! To be perfectly honest, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It's pretty bad, but it's got some fun moments and the art is pretty solid. It's disappointing that Remender's Uncanny Avengers saga ended with this, but Secret Wars, a year later, showed us that there are far, far, worse endings to long runs.
But, we're still not at the end! Remender wrote two more things before he ejected from the sinking Marvel ship, and tomorrow we're going to do the first of them, the second volume of Uncanny Avengers, COUNTER-EVOLUTIONARY. See you then!

I have read it. I liked the little mini I think, but otherwise it grated on my nerves.
I dropped it after AvX. It was just wacky enough to be fun, but it seemed like Aaron phoned it in after AvX. The dip in quality was almost instantaneous so I stopped reading.
Honestly, Quire's whole schtick is being an annoying little cunt with delusions of grandeur. He's been that way since NXM and he exists for D R A M A. I don't think there was anything wrong with how Aaron used him, just THAT he used him. Character is just that fucking annoying.
>>86973027
See I always thought that Quire works when he is an antagonist. I think he would have worked best as a foe or rival for characters like Surge, Hellion, Elixir and X-23.
I mean Quire in Morrison's run was smart... But at the same time he was an idiot. And it would have been nice for him to come against foes who he assumed were weaker and then got his ass handed to him.

>he is an antagonist
He's the reader's antagonist.
He's some shitty metajoke and for whatever reason is always played straight, but wouldn't work if he wasn't, but also doesn't work when he is--in-universe, but he still succeeds in being a little poop.

tee bee aytch, I can totally see Remender having come up with the Captain Hydra plot himself. It seems 100% up his alley, especially with the leftover Professor Skull stuff. My guess is Spencer looked at his notes and is just rolling with it, but he can't write for shit.

nice. Need to watch the 4th "season" still
Yeah, I can totally groove with this.
I enjoyed Endsong a fair bit, and that was definitely a spot where he got way in over his head.
I'm loving this storytime, but OP skipped the number 8, no?
>>86974441I was a dumbass who put Part 9 down instead of Part 8. Whoops.
