Genocide after getting savagely BTFO by Arch's kiddies during Uncanny Avengers does some research and learns that mindfucked Angel (the one with T/O Wings) can be not only resurrected, but cloned (think back to Kyle & Yost's X-Force, but more ambitious) and used as an instrument of the Celestial will he's been trying to help out with. So they cut Angel's T/O wings off then get to cloning. My understanding is that the first clone--really just a blank slate, sort of like a puppet, but with echoes of Archangel escapes (or is set loose). He stumbles onto Mags and tells him to protect mutants at any cost.
Some shit goes down. Genocide gets utterly rekt in one of my favorite panels of the year. Psylocke gets baited into summoning the 'prime' Archangel and then he nearly awakens again until autistic Warren merges back with his prime clone.
It's a little contrived, but fuck, what isn't in comics? I think it works pretty well. Helps tie up some loose ends and we get best angel back.
