So, I finally got through with Spurrier's run.
It took me maybe 4 or 5 issues before it really *clicked*, but it was extremely good all in all.
Personally, I felt that the penultimate issue (pictured) was absolutely incredible.
At first I thought Spurrier lacked a handle on the characterization of Psylocke an Fantomex in particular, and Cable to a degree, but after I got a little further into the series their actions and thoughts made sense as they were developed.
Anyways, what does /co/ think about the run, and can we have an eggsfours thread? All eras welcome.
Really, nothing?
Oh well.
>>85887930
You ane me both, anon.
It's one of those runs I sincerely love because the things I like about it overthrow the things that felt off by so much.
Read Spurrier's interview he did on CBR when it was going, he really digs into the themes and motivations of the characters.
>>85887930
I liked it, even though a lot of people seemed to dislike it, especially at the time.
The problem of course being that when most writers have characters that don't quite line up, it's because they're shit writers.
Which is why it's a dumb idea to do what Spurrier did here and start in medias res with some characters behaving oddly for initially obscured reasons.
You just can't do that in todays comics. Sales weren't great and Spurrier really had to rush through the last few issues to get to his desired ending. The whole part of Fantomex going rogue and killing spy agencies everywhere was probably going to be one or even multiple arcs.
His Lego approach to comics writing really saved his ass, though.
Also the art was weird as fuck though, but it seemed to get better as Spurrier wrote more to the strengths of the artists, or the artist improved or it just grew on me a little over time.
I really wished Spurrier could get one book with that fill-in artist who did the Marrow arc instead.
What are some ridiculously overpowered characters that's powers change constantly due to the vagueness of it?
>>85887929
Literally any magic user. Dr. Fate, Dr. Strange, Zatanna, Scarlet Witch...
Magneto can be insanely OP at times. I just read a comic where he can control peoples minds through using the iron in their bloodflow to their brain and make everyone do whatever he says.
>>85888132
What has Zatanna done that was OP? I only know her from cartoons and shit.
Didn't know if I should go here or /lit/ but let's start a children's books thread.
Did anyone else here have this set? Used them for bathroom reading and ended up knowing alot more useless information than my peers at the time. Fucking loved em, and the art gives a nostalgic feel.
>>85887625
I read them in Spanish.
>>85887625
The set was left at my grandma's house and when I went to visit as an adult, they were gone. Sold off in a garage sale. Would have loved to kept them for my own kids.
Another books series that I liked that went missing was this. Peter rabbit was such a little shit. Do kids today even know of these stories at all? Are there cartoons still being made of them today? If not, I feel like today's youth is missing out. The "bro" and "lol random" shit can only go so far.
Remember these? I swear they were in every doctor's office I went to as well as Highlights.
First look at Prometheus, the main villain of season 5.

why
>Start watching the show
>Think irs cute and decent for kids
>Discover what it was originally supposed to be
Man that sucks, I hope the creators get to reboot it into their original version
>>85887540
There's an OVA by Toei coming out at some point. No word has been said on it's progress as far as I know
>>85887540
what the show was supposed to be?
>>85888636
It was a 2D animated show with a more serious tone and a less episodic plot.

TOMATO SAUCE AND CHEESE SO GOOEY
ButThe Pirates Who Don't Do Anythingis my favorite for the staying power and absurdity.
How did this flop so fucking hard?
Kids just weren't interested I guess
Even from the poster it doesn't really look like the family friendly romp that a parent would take their child to. This, Book of Life, probably some others that don't come to mind, they're somewhat different to the usual Disney or Dreamworks film and it doesn't really seem to have much appeal as a result
Advertising. It's always about advertising. The content of movies mean nothing until the tickets have already been sold.
It's not Disney or Dreamworks.
You have Terror at your complete disposal to make him rape anyone/thing.
Who/what is his target?
>inb4: Trump or Clinton
Also, please refrain from posting spoilers for The Boys.
And read it if you haven't. It's amazing.
What if my target is Garth Ennis, OP?
>>85886775
Terror can fuck whomever and whatever he wants as long as it makes him happy because he's a good boy and I love him.;_;
>>85886775
Batman's parents.
I'm sure he can find them.
what's your favorite image comic?
A bunch of them.
>>85886731
Manifest Destiny or Southern Bastards I think.
There's a bunch I'm enjoying right now though.
Horizon
Prophet
Bloody Mary (look it up)
Invisible Republic

Why is it so hard for costume designer to make this costume?
>>85886164
You know the answer, anon. Hollywood believes that colors and simplicity are gay.
They did back in the 90s it was gay, you'd know that if you were older than 14
>>85886164
Blue Tint and Orange Tint fuck up the yellow into looking either green or orange, and the red can end up looking either super orangey or kinda mauve.
It's a color scheme that is fucking perfect in four color tones that were available when comics were originall a thing, but cinema cannot handle that shit. The only way you could make a worse costume is if you made the yellow and red all stripey down the lenght of their body, or had that scheme with polka dots.
Does this describe you /co/?
>>85886028
no, im actually /fit/
>>85886028
Fuck
Now i feel even worse
>>85886028
No, I'm fat with chicken legs
So, was it ever actually confirmed whether he was sentient or not?
In Big Picture Show, he drove a bus.
Either he's sentient or Johnny is more of a fucking lunatic than anyone could ever begin to understand.
I heard that Johnny got Plank from a cull cart sale at the local lumber store and while his dad was building their home, he gave Johnny the board and jokingly said maybe it'll be your first friend here but Johhny didn't catch the joke. And that's how Plank was born.
>>85885844
Johnny has always been more of a lunatic than anyone could ever begin to understand.
