Well that's because he offers a permanent solution to villains. And writers can't kill off main villains because they are marketable or they want to use them in other stories.
What I've always wanted to see is a story where Punisher gets superman level powers and ends up completely destroying the criminal underworld. Then he sets his sights on super villains and starts taking them out. The villains then get so afraid of Frank that they start seeking Avengers/their enemies for protection from Frank.
It would be a cool major event that would answer the question of what Frank would do if he gained superpowers.

So recently in comics we are receiving an increase of Muslim characters so I was wondering, what about other religions ? Perhaps we could have more people considering worshipping the Norse pantheon in Marvel and Greek one in DC ? More religions Jewish characters (most are very secular) or Christians, perhaps an immortal that took part in the first crusaders and is looking for "redemption". Slavic gods returning after ages of absence and punching out Hercules.

Liefeld gets a lot of shit everywhere you look for his art, writing etc. Am I the only who liked his earliest work on New Mutants and X-force? Also, when he came on as artist on New Mutants, it was the lowest selling X-title, probably because it didn't have an X in it, so re-naming it X-Force was kind of smart.
The vast majority of his later stuff in the 90's and 00's got progressively shittier though.
