So, I uh have been watching this show called Steven Universe. Now Steven Universe is about a child who is half lesbian-alien, and half normal. It has deep episodes about best friends shapeshifting into dead mothers, family friends being jealous that your mother never fucked them, and subtle gay undertones.

Who the fuck even wrote this short? A 15 year old? The tragic element is completely contrived and unearned. What happened to the guy that was chasing them? Was he literally just there so the dad and the son would end up by the cliff? It's literally just a sad and disturbing scene of a kid accidentally shooting his dad and bearing that guilt into his old age.
Fuck, not even Pixar itself is this obvious when they manufacture an emotional response. There's no message, no theme, no idea, nothing. It's just a fucked story that makes you feel like shit. People actually put effort into this.
Yes, the short itself is visually impressive, but that's seriously it. How sad that something so shallow story-wise should get so much recognition.

In fact the only times I readily do not root for the villain is if the villain is a fatso, so Sonic and Spider-Man if he's fighting Dock Ock, etc, and the only whole show/series I root for the heroes over villains isMy Little Pony

Look, I get it, he was great in BTAS, he was a perfect fit. But as they keep trotting him out in each new iteration no matter how much the characterization and tone of the new series may differ just because he was the biggest fan favorite, it just sounds more and more tacky and forced. Every time he talks it feels like the media suddenly skips a gear shifting into a different tone and then back again.
