The rituals and words etc themselves are just for getting you in to the right mindset/frequency for your goal. A competent wizard could read the nutrition label on a package of food while sitting in a recliner and still get the exact same results as someone using a more traditional method to say, summon an entity or kick up a storm. Now, that being said, the longer/more a method has been used the more it takes on a life of its own and can cover deficiencies in the users skills by virtue of accumulated associations. Sort of like writing a completely new script versus copypasting one you googled. Either can be shitty if the user is incompetent, but the leet wizards don't bullshit and props to manifest will.

The main reason I asked about the edgier stuff is its the only "magic" I'm really aware of. I'm a recovering atheist and I'm just looking to learn more about the world and maybe find some benefits for myself while I'm at it. It's probably better, and definitely safer, to start with the fundamentals.
Meditation, visualization, basic energy manipulation, etc.
