what makes people think that pokemon is the only legitimate monster collecting game and other as rip-offs or knock-offs even if some of them came before it?

Learning Japanese by playing vidya, is that even possible?
If yes how efficient is it, are you better of reading manga or a VN?

What games are best suited for that?

I want to create a list of potentially good games for learning Japanese, but unsure whether or not it is even remotely viable.

Browsing /v/ for years I often heard people say "I learned English by playing video games", which does indeed sound like a fun way to learn a language, but I have my doubts this works just as well for Japanese.

1.European languages are similar to each other, some more than others, but they are still similar unlike European languages compared to an Asian one.
2.Looking up words is way easier if the latin script is used, Japanese has 3 scripts which amount to around 3000 "letters".

So let's say we are from Germany and we are playing an English game, grammar isn't all that different, words can be easily looked up if needed and we might even passively pick some words meaning up, while having fun.
Some games have more text than others so the amount of new words you learn differ greatly but all in all sounds okay in my book.

So far so good, what about Japanese?
You need to learn kana, the first 2 scripts to read about anything, this can be done in a week, but then there are kanji, there is a fuckload of them and learning them by themselves won't get you far cause they have different readings and you only know how to pronounce a word when you know the word already.

For example 雪 is read yuki and means snow, but 雪崩 is read nadare and means avalanche or snowslide.
You can see the same kanji read in 2 ways, now way to tell how it is read if you don't already know it.

This makes looking up words a rather bothersome task and is definitely not fun.

That's why I'm looking for games that allow you to use tools to assist you like a texthooker or games that either feature furigana or are written in kana only.

On sale for 25 dollars right now, is it worth it? Heard about the repetitivness of it and some bugs but from what i know some patches have been released. Overall i like the 1960s setting and taking over territories and distributing profits sounds fun. Really on the fence on this one, give me some opinions /v

This is me. Literally me. No other character can come close to relating to me like this. There is no way you can convince me this is not me. This character could not possibly be anymore me. It’s me, and nobody can convince me otherwise. If anyone approached me on the topic of this not possibly being me, then I immediately shut them down with overwhelming evidence that this character is me. This character is me, it is indisputable. Why anyone would try to argue that this character is not me is beyond me. If you held two pictures of me and this character side by side, you’d see no difference. I can safely look at this character every day and say “Yup, that’s me”. I can practically see this character every time I look at myself in the mirror. I go outside and people stop me to comment how similar I look and act to this character. I chuckle softly as I’m assured everyday this character is me in every way. I can smile each time I get out of bed every morning knowing that I’ve found my identity with this character and I know my place in this world. It’s really quite funny how similar this character is to me, it’s almost like we’re identical twins. When I first saw this character, I had an existential crisis. What if this character was the real me and I was the fictional being. What if this character actual became aware of my existence? Did this character have the ability to become self aware itself?
