That's just how /v/ works. When a game comes out, the negative opinions float to the top while the positive opinions are weighed down. As time passes and the shitposters move on to the next big release, the dust starts settling and the negative opinions are much more well backed and the positive opinions are more frequent.

Then a sequel comes out and the process starts all over again.

The only people who want to "save" fighting games fall in two categories: casuals who cant play the games because they cant break the barrier and people fed up with Capcom's shitty way of treating them so they always find new games to put on a pedestal, only to find out people will play Capcom games regardless of quality due to the nature of the Western FGC. The former is irrelevant and have no idea of what theyre talking about in most cases. The latter have a point but they themselves are dumb for always finding the next "SF Killer" instead of ignoring Capcom and sticking to the games they want to play over it.

Honestly? There was a time I would have said yes, but the community is so shitty and introverted that it isn't worth saving anymore.

Fighting games are a relic of the past. Bring on the dissidia type party games.

There was nothing particularly wrong with the N64 controller aside from the stick being a complete piece of shit. Granted, it was literally the first one, but still. It broke incredibly easily and after just a bit of use you'd have it dancing around in there all loose.

Depending on how strictly you want to lean on those rules, BotW would fail already at the first-person view part the very latest. Which I find to be a very poor, even misplaced requirement.

So yeah, it would very well be an "immersive sim" in my opinion. The whole term's a bit vague in general, and tends to describe games with blurry combinations of various genres and ideas.
Zeldas have always belonged to Action Adventure genre, which has sometimes caused it to get called an "RPG" at times too. However, BotW would pretty much fit the description of an RPG as well now... so take that as you wish.

The bottom line however is, that BotW's a very beautiful, atmospheric, truly open and huge game, and definitely a great, immersive experience. Time simply flies when I play this game, and I've seen this happen with other people I've witnessed play it.
