Tarkovsky is quite special but if you liked the narrative than go with surrealism.
Jodorowsky is maybe too edgy, but Lynch has similar dreamlike non linear narratives so go through it if you haven't already.

If you liked the poetic quality than try Bergman, Mallick or even Jim Jarmusch.

The only other directors that come to mind are Bergman and Bresson.

Can't really compare them. Star Wars has alway been shit. Yes, even Empire. So when Lucas shat on it with his prequels it wasn't really that big of a deal. But the Alien series has two genuinely fantastic entries. What Scott did is far worse imo. Lucas is still the worse director though.

Prometheus is nowhere near as bad as TPM
