ITT we ask questions bothering us in our games, and other anon give suggestions on how to help, or what they've done in similar situations. Cross discussion of solutions and problems is, of course, welcome, but try to avoid troll answers and petty arguments.
To start us off, here's a classic - how do you deal with a character whose player is invested in the game, but whose character has no personal stakes in ongoing story threads, and who has not been drawn to attempts to make it personal?

You take them outside and ask them about it. Chances are that they haven't bit the story hook because you've used bait that isn't appealing, or they're happy playing as part of a team and so doesn't really want to do "personal story" stuff. You need to find out which one it is though, as trying to foist story on a player who doesn't want it is not going to endear them to the game, and not trying to provide it to someone who wants it probably won't end up with a happy player.
As always, communication is the first step in working out the cause for a symptom.

anyone got any advice on running space combat in edge for a newer GM?

I had some warma/horde games at a local store (during the warma/horde day) and I learned that the local 40k players are the worst community ever.
>Use over 70% of the tables to play or to wait for someone else to play (on a day they have no preference).
>Screaming obnoxious stuffs like "WAGH" or "FOR THE EMPRAH!", distracting everyone else.
>Can't talk about anything that is not 40k related.
Bonus Point.

So anon, which ones are the worst communities you have ever faced? I have played with KoW, 9th, AoS, Warma/Hordes and Infinity people, but this experiense shows me that the 40k, at least in here, is the undefeated champion of obnoxious.

40k is bad. It has more brats who shit the place up by being bratty than any other wargame. It also has more tryhard metaller nerds who think they're badass because they got their ear pierced five times and have a totes le badass Khorne symbol tattoo. It has more wannabe Mr Popular bandwagoneers who just go with the biggest crowd. Even the grognards are shit now too, since 40k has been around long enough that faggots who started with 4th edition think they're true grog. Then you get the smug "Oh, I only like it for the models and lore..." types who genuinely think 40k's shitty models and lore are great, and consider themselves a cut above the game-playing plebians - I can hardly keep a straight face when I'm talking to these fucks. All of them constantly shit out 40k memes - round here it's more "Blood for the Blood God!!! XDDD" and "Purge the Heretic!!! XDDDD".
Still not as bad as mtg. Magic's fanbase has every cringey nerd stereotype in abundance, all contained within a BO stench zone, and the worst part is the sheer amount of bad sportsmanship. Say what you like about 40k players, and I certainly have, but their sportsmanship is roughly average. Mtg's is abysmal, like playing multiplayer with randos from /v/.

Gonna try and come up with some ship limitations now.

1, No warp capabilities, so all extra solar missions are out.
2, Inefficient sensors, inability to detect distress signals outside immediate area around them.
3, Limited patrol missions, patrol missions of these ships are limited to immediate area near star bases that belong to this species/shipyards/mines/Planetary holdings.
4, No exploring, due to the lack of warp engines these ships are unable to move outside their home system.
5, No colonization, Well, maybe in form of sleeper ships or generation ships, but that is all.

Nothing in particular. This thread is basically a way to say "what are /tg/ approved anime?".
For example, OP pic dabs into a sort of fantasy world and builds it in a semi-realistic way by having the character face problems linked to economy and expanding on lore.

I've heard it's pretty good.
Guys play like they should (kinda) Heath Ledge Joker has a knife and is good in melee or something. Movie Joker gets laughing gas canisters. 70s batman is good at quips and is more of a utility guy and not a direct combatant. Like with the watchman, Comedian is a good hitter with what's her face. Rorscach is a sneaky melee guy or something. Ozy is a leadership utiity guy and Owl is fat and depressed. Things like that.
Pretty sure you can get the rules for free on their site or online. And the list builder has all the stats and stuff.
