Have I, dare I say, saved RPGs?
Only people providing their own alternative will have their criticism listened to.
Alignments are a dull, unnecessary appendix that lingers in RPGs because its familiar and people cling to it as a crutch.
>objective value assessments assigned to out-of-context and motivation-less methodologies
It's shit.
The idea that purchasing goods and purchasing information are inherently good or neutral is retarded and you've provided no reasoning to why it should be structured in that manner.
This is your weapon. It's 116 centimeters long blade that weighs 2 kilograms. It has a curved blade ideal for catching those of a foe on the field weapon and slashing through enemies.
>>52013795
>no hilt, just a bit of string wrapped around the dull parts
Can't I at least get one with a proper grip?

???

Such a clumsy object is no match for the vast power of folded nippon steel and over 10000 years of finely honed martial traditions anon.
Why are there no good solitaire RPG games?
>>52012270
Have you tried kingdom death monster?
>>52012270
Chief amongst the elements of the psychology of fun are challenge, surprise, and problem solving. It's hard to have these elements solo.
>>52012270
The mediums being worked with now are not very good for solo RPGs. Think of how digital Klondike replaced analog Klondike play. The big names won't take a chance on a new medium. Most of the one-man hobbyists just mimic the big companies, because they don't really have any original ideas apart from spotting the obvious flaws in the big name systems, which the big names don't care about, because they're making money hand over fist selling those, and are afraid of breaking them even worse. So those little guys aren't trying new mediums either.
The closest they've gotten is one guy made a CYOA adventure book using drawings of the rooms instead of text. He had a page number key on significant things that he drew, and he's basically recreated the gameplay from DOS Bards Tale 1980 in a book. That's how fucking far we are behind in this shit and it makes me mad.
He's working with Cypher and the Fallen, who are traitors, and is saying how he hates what the Imperium has become. When is the Inquisition going to take him out?
>>52011356
>Cypher and the Fallen, who are traitors
I thought it was the heretics that changed the colours of their armours.
>>52011356
If they actually went full Grand Inquisitor on this, the whole fucking farce might have been worth it.
>Heretic
>working with a Grey Knight Grand Master.
Anon, you just went full fucking retard.

GUILLIMAN SAVES IMPERIUM
>the bbeg has managed to recruit the luckiest being in the world
Wasn't there some extra dimensional x-men villain from the 90's who kept trying to do that? Anyway unless the lucky one can really control how it works I could see it backfiring. Good luck often means someone else is having shitty luck, and being next to the lucky guy all the time could be a liability
>>52010488
Join the BBEG. He's obviously on the winning side.
>>52010488
So my last Abberant Campaign?
I had a character who's only super power (besides being kinda superhuman in everything) was luck. He allied with a group that eventually became antagonists for a different party, and was the dragon to the BBEG for the campaign.
The most bullshit fights.

Really? Nothing?

How'd you do? See anything interesting? Got a greentext story? Did "that guy" show up?

Modern FNM
Went 3-1 with Classic Burn and ended up 3rd. Lost to Soul Sisters because well fuck. Martyr of Sands turn 1 then turn 2 reveals 5 cards and i gged out.
Put in my side deck, game 2 same thing. First drop martyr of sands, i kill her and he drops another one and reveals 4 cards and i just concede on the spot.
Damn deck i hate it.
There was a half-table of 8-10 year olds playing Standard while everyone else played EDH. Only 2 people wanted to draft so it didn't go off. I think more people play Netrunner than Standard now at my FLGS. Thanks WOTC! :x
>>52007332
Why did you do that anon? He's got a hand of 1 card now and is mana screwed six ways from Sunday, and really with 35 life you still have a shot; it wouldn't be a stretch to claw him back to near 20 by the time his shit un-fucks itself.
Unless your damage output is terrible in which case u deserb toulose :o)
Are Dwarves really supposed to be jews? I never really got the feel from any fantasy setting. Even Tolkien's setting which originated this meme only makes obscure references to the influence of Hebrew on the Dwarf language.
I get the feeling that in most settings they're just Norse and Gaelic hybrids.
What do you think?
>>52004924
Literally Jews in Eberron.
>>52004924
In most settings nowadays they ARE just Norse and Gaelic hybrids, because Peter Jackson's dwarves were Scottish as fuck, as were things like Warhammer Fantasy's dwarves. The modern popular image is a drinking Scotsman who lives for a few hundred years and is a hell of a geologist.
In Tolkien's stories, the language was based heavily on Hebrew, and their most important stories revolved around living in diaspora. Between Moria and the Lonely Mountain, the dwarves only ever really knew the pain of being expelled from the lands that their god gave to them. And when they take them back, they become dwarvish utopias of riches and safety, where this near-extinct species could start again. Even ignoring the thematic aspects, there is more low-hanging fruit in their descriptions as short, large-nosed, and hairy with a love of gold and a mind for numbers.
I know that /lit/ will bust a gut any time someone says Tolkien's work is allegorical, but there's a great deal of similarity.

It's not just the High Lords, the whole galaxy wants you dead. You'll have to join up with Jaghatai, build those legions of yours one more time. First we'll need to save Jaghatai, he's in the Webway. You're a Legend in the eyes of those who fought in the Great Crusade. That's why you have to handle this mission yourself, that's how Jaghatai would want it. The Webway is a big place, I expect you to become quite familiar with those artifacts as you plan your next move. How and where you make it, well, that's up to you. Now go! Let the Legend come back to life!
>>52004401
He's there just now since it was being discussed, wouldn't be there normally.
>>52004414
Praise Be to Scanon and Archivebro! Thanks guys.
>>52004425
The way that works, is on"Average" for this he will rez with a single wound. Then as it's his turn, he charges, taking Overwatch fire. If he doesn't go down to that, which is likely, he will probably win. So yeah, Scoria has a little over a 50% win chance, since half the time he'll win, and half the time he still has a very slim chance.
So yeah, Scoria wins the maths competition, tableside it's dependent on whether you want a duellist, a buffer, a psyker, a Distraction Carnifex, et cetera.
>>52004433
Well, sadly that does not give your favourite dude Hatred (Top 5) so that's how it stands. I play Ordo Reductor, we don't even get to play Herohammer.

Get over your rampant alcoholism? Seriously gaming with drunks is no fun at all.

>>52001684

Tolkien and Pratchett are almost invariably in there though
>>52001684
Conan short stories.
Lies of Locke lamora. The first book for sure. The second and third are kind of skippable.
Move over Bioniclefag, it's time for the superior semi-obscure franchise from the 2000's to get two or three decent threads on /tg/ then become mildly annoying and fade into the background.
Megaman Battle Network. It's pretty easy to find a system for it, just take your favorite Supers system and stat up a netnavi.
Now, the question is, how to handle the NetOp/Netnavi? Two characters for one player, or two players for a single character concept? How would you integrate the battleship system?
Why aren't you running a cyber-bright setting already?
i liked that show
Yes well done Megaman, well done Megaman, HOWEVER...
>>51986278
I LIKED THAT SHOW EVEN BETTER
How do you do dragons in your setting? Are they ferocious beasts, or aloof big guys?
Are they common, and numerous, or rare, and hidden?
Do they rule nations, have their own nation, or are they usually on their own?
>>51986078
great beasts that roamed the earth before man usurped it for his own, those ancient and venerable elder dragons that still exist are in deep slumber, tended to by their loyal cults or hidden far from the prying hands of mortals.
modern dragons are simply mighty beasts of varying sizes and temperament - pale reflections of what once was
>>51986078
autistic lizard-NEETs
>>51986078
Very aloof big guys and gals.
Though society has progressed far enough that everyone and their mothers know or at least have heard stories on how to reliably kill them.
So they usually go for silent manipulation.
However, there are some that are brazen enough to waltz in a town and strike a deal with the mayor, resulting in a few dragon Lords, bankers, guardians, and even knights.
These dragons enrage their brethren to no end, because dragonesses dig a drake with titles.
