How would you run a game about reincarnation?
Have you ever played a game featuring reincarnation?
For the D&D spell, does the PC just leap back up as a new race, or does there new form arrive, flooded with new memories of their old life?
I was considering a game where the players are reincarnations of previous heroes who faded into obscurity. The heroes of old's foe has also returned, so they need to seek their old selves out so they can remember how they defeated the Bad Guy last time.
Does that sound interesting?

Reincarnation is a nice thought for someone who's grieving, but it simple doesn't work in a practical sense.
Let's assume it's true for a moment as a thought experiment. If reincarnation is true and everyone who is alive today was alive before, how can the population ever be increasing?
If you try to imagine the mechanics that would be required for reincarnation to work, the whole theory falls apart.

Or you just have a set number of souls and a lot of people born without one.

How dangerous would electrified rain be to a modern town? Say, this "electro rain" were a regular occurrence country wide, and only the rain water itself is electrocuted, what kind of measures could be taken to keep the town and it's people safe? What could be some advantages and disadvantages it could bring to a country?
What if this were to happen long enough for evolution to take place? What kind of wildlife could spring forth from this?

Has anyone noticed a Stranger Things or TBBT- influenced influx of newbies and normalfags into RPGs? Is it overall positive for the hobby to be in the media spotlight?
After having no real life TTRPG group in a fucking decade because "hurrr, we grownup now", I got asked today to DM an introductory D&D game for some normie chick that got excited about "that game the kids played in Stranger Things"; she is friends with an old friend I used to DM for. Other people in the group would include my friend's gf and the chick's bf, both vanilla normalfags, and frankly I don't feel like this will end well.
This whole "omg I wanna fight the demogorgon!" thing... I don't think there's a real interest and wish they'd just let us geeks be geeks amongst our own.

Help shape them in to good players instead of being a jaded pessimist. Unless that's too difficult for you, in which case I'm sure you could always return to not DMing. Only you know how much you enjoyed the last decade.

Responses Jhoira. Have plenty of instants. Suspend everything that's not an instant. Your turns are Draw Go other than possible combat step. Your opponents' turns are really active. Timebug/Timecrafting/Clockspinning to drop a card out of suspend RIGHT NOW or keep it hanging there until you need it.

So I'm running a published Savage Worlds Interface Zero 2.0 adventure (pic related) for a new group. I have experience DMing (Pathfinder) for a different group (everyone had a blast), but it was a sandboxy hexploration campaign that was more combat than roleplaying. I found an adventure that had good reviews and seemed within my comfort zone and familiarized myself with it, only to find when I met up with the group they told me they were interested in more roleplaying and politics than combat. One player has rolled up a Fantastic Mister Fox-esque grifter and another seemed really interested in exploring how disenfranchized regular working-class people must feel in a society dominated by designer babies. There are two rp-heavy girls in the outfit who made a couple of dumbass punk bffs (that's written in a character sheet) who don't like authority. There's an android hacker who was socialized in a Wild West VMMORPG. I told them that was outside of my wheelhouse but that I would try.
So the premise is that the PC's are sent to investigate an abandoned, half-undersea military base for cancer-research on sharks there. Of course the base's security hasn't shut down, there are feral shark muties swimming around in the water, and then there are alsoterrorists who try to make off with an old nuke from one of the subs and blow up cyberpunk Portland.
So the question is how I can add some social drama into the mix here and tailor it to the PC's expectations.
I thought I might insert some feuding tribes of shark hybrids (and/or sapient base security robots), which have sprung up (and decorated) different portions of the military base, and the PC's have to navigate through their social dynamics to get to where they want to be.
But I'm much more interested in seeing what /tg/ can come up with. Hit me.

Personally I'd tell these thespian types to fuck off. This seems to be the trend anymore with online players. There's a trend to deem anyone that wants to focus on mechanics or combat "murderhobos" -- like that's a bad thing. All these failed drama school kids have flooded the hobby and are pushing the improv-acting thing over playing the actual GAME.
"I just want to get into my character and explore their feelings and desires. I need to understand my characters motivations for hacking into the terminal and retrieving the corporations data. Here's my 4-page character background and I need you to incorporate all of it into my game or else you're a shit GM."
