If they try to continue, tell them to cut it out and then speak with them after the session about what is and isn't acceptable at the table.

Alternatively, unleash your magical realm on them and see how much they like turnabout.

I break out the graph paper and make that shit as mundane and lame as possible.....maybe throw a pie graph in there for good measure

I'm playing a ratfolk investigator in my current game, an urban campaign in a dwarven fortress. Playing him as a meek alchemy shop owner, who is being dragged along with the party on adventures despite every objection he makes.

It's fun. I once had my players stat themselves up and set a session in our town.

We ended up navigating via Google Maps road view and any people in the photo were zombies. Cars or stuff in the photo were also available for use. It was retarded but hilarious.

Here's a story from one of my campaigns. Spoilers for Age of Worms ahead.

>playing a NG necropolitan dread necromancer (DM lifted the alignment restriction)
>get to Dragotha's lair
>decide "fuck it, let's give something crazya try"
"Mr. Dragotha, sir, we have your phylactery. You have the power to kill us all, but we'd be able to smash it first. We should come to some agreement."

>Dragotha hisses
>"Very well. But make it quick. I am not patient, little undead."
"I propose that we give you your phylactery, and promise to leave you alone as long as you leave the world alone. In return, you will help us against Kyuss."
>"Impossible, out of the question," he snarls. "Even if I wanted to, I cannot. I am bound by magic to serve Kyuss forever."

Nah. At best, Guilliman would go and force the AdMech to remove 3/4th of the red tape they have on their tech and outfit the marines with some GC/HH Legion equipment to make them more efficient.

Maybe at one point bring back some of the more Legion-themed units (Recon Squads, Breachers, and finally initiate his plan he had since the GC and give all Legions [now Chapters] their versions of Fullmentarus Terminators for real missile hailstorms).

Sounds pretty hot

I like the subversion of a normal hive mind in sci-fi as well.

The aliens are described as vaguely humanoid, though, rather than insectoid, though I recall it as being a bit hazy on their exact appearance.

Attached image shows how the Heresy started, Horus has some minor doubts about 'Big E which under normal circumstances would have been ignored.
But then Chaos happened and well...When the voices in your head can also bend reality you tend to trust them.

As for Horus being Evil... Depends on the Era and personal preference.

I see it as this:
Start of the Heresy=Good, if misguided intentions
After tricking Leman Russ into burning Prospero and fucking both Magnus and the Thousand sons into oblivion=Horus became an irredeemable bastard.

Technically, it wasn't really Horus' fault. It was Lorgar, who was a fucking stupid asshole.

Horus is sort of a puppet, because the Chaos Gods are directly influencing him. The real architect is Lorgar, and Kor Phaeron / Erebus.

Horus was wrong.

The Emperor isn't a god. He can and does make mistakes. However, he is essentially on a "Golden Path" like in the Dune series. IE The human race will die unless something is done and the Emperor is trying to prevent that from happening. He does bad things, but in the grand scheme his plan and his actions are for the good of mankind.

Horus never starts out as evil and is not an evil person. However, he was corrupted by Chaos. It is important to note that humans are weak to resisting the powers of chaos due to unchecked emotion/psychic connect to the warp. Only the Emperor has the power to challenge the chaos gods. So when Horus was weakest and the Emperor out of sight, the forces of Chaos sowed the seeds of doubt in his mind. His intentions are good because there are some things that the Emperor does that are kind of dick moves. This is how it gets into Horus' mind that he is right. Overtime he becomes so corrupted though they he cannot see what he has become. Chaos taking over Terra is bad for everyone involved.

So in summation:

Horus a good dude who was tricked and lured into being bad
The Emperor kind of a dick, but in the batman way in that his overall goals and actions are noble despite how much of an asshole he can be.
Ollanius Pius is the true hero of the Imperium.

Have always existed, same with Chaos Eldar.

Yeah, well, the 40K lore regarding Chaos was always pretty fucked. Most likely 'cause the Imperium itself is fucked, and only horrible shit happens to people which feeds misery which feeds Chaos. Makes sense, as it's been alluded that if the Imperium never came to be, the Warp would calm down again.. on the other hand, there's the Eldar who fucked up big time with Slaanesh, so who the fuck knows.

Anyway, Chaos gods are stupid and the Warp is stupid. So just don't think about it, enjoy the fireworks.
