At what age did you realize Velvet Underground -Who Loves the Sun is 1000x better than The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun? Age 19 for me.
My favorite version of the greatest song of all time

God Damn the Sun is better than both
House or Rising Sun is the superior song
Does anyone know any more songs like these one ?

>host a giveaway/competition sponsored in part by Yousician, "the best way to learn, practice, and master a musical instrument" catered specifically to beginners and retards
>giving away a pre-owned TE OP-1
>relatively inexpensive instrument, in the grand scope of instruments, good for learning how to create synth patches/learn piano
>get a whole heap of very well done submissions by people who have dirt-cheap equipment and could only ever dream of owning an instrument worth $800
>specifically mention that entrants don't need to be geniuses with top of the line gear and instruments to win, he just has to like what they submit
>the winner is a musical prodigy with at least $27,000 worth of equipment and instruments in the same 100 square feet, who learned the entirety of the song in a couple hours and recorded it in a day
this was such a fucking sham, honestly. I feel bad for whoever really took their time, with their super cheap instruments, to make a submission for this thing, only to be btfo'd by someone who probably didn't even use Yousician to learn it.
it's such a disconnect. what the fuck was the point if the grand winner is way out of the league this $800 toy was made for?
I can't stand his fucking face, whenever he pops up in my recommended my day gets worse
screencap this and tweet it to him

I'm not trying to strawman the guy, his content is fine. it's just that this contest was stupid if the whole point was to have the maximum amount of production input/value possible. you can't expect that out of people honestly competing for this thing, as odds are they don't have very good instruments or means of recording them.
plus, the cinematography for the winning entry was equally stupid. anyone hosting an honest contest for people competing for an $800 instrument would put this in their honorable mentions; his camera alone costs more than the thing he won. it's stupid.

Hey, /mu/. I am interested in getting a record player and I was sure if I should ask here or on /g/ so I figured I'd ask here first.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for record players and if it's preferential to get separate speakers for it even if the player's speakers are good.
I've never owned a record player before so I really don't know anything about them.
Thanks in advance.
Get a crosley :^)
Playing records on a crosley is like strapping a knife onto your hand for a needle and hand spinning your records on piles of broken glass. Don't get one. At least get an audio-technica player, at least those don't mutilate your vinyls
Richard D. James Album was the first Aphex record I've ever heard, so I felt it was appropriate to pay tribute and snatch a vinyl copy as I was out.
I guess it doesn't help that I listened to What's Going On and Voodoo first, but holy shit, this record doesn't translate so well. My stereo system isn't spectacular, but damn, listening to RDJ on vinyl as oppposed to hi-fi headphones feels like writing an essay with a chisel. Shit is so strange. I'm not even sure if I dislike the sound yet, it was just a rough listen.
Any other albums y'all think are easily reduced by vinyl, or is that just common for electronic records? Am I tripping?

aphex twin sounds better on cd, desu
I have a couple autechre records on vinyl, and even though i kinda get your point, i still enjoy them more on vinyl. I'm not sure why. The records in question is LP5, Confield and Exai.

Vinyl is shit.
Will you be listening to the ep, /mu/?

(Pic not related) Recently I've been listening to the Young Crooks and I've really enjoyed their music but I'm trying to listen to more artist but I can't seem to find any other artist like them nor can I figure out the genre. Any ideas of the genre or any similar bands?
Hello my best friends, i got my mums birthday coming up in a few days and i still need a playlist for the day. It's going to be a chill summer party, so just something I can play in the background.

Pandora or Spotify 'summer' playlists already exist. It's not that hard idiot
Do you have any artists where you like practically every song they've released? If so, who are they?
Mew and Animal Collective are mine.

Omar S
Sweet Trip
The Field

LCD Soundsystem to me. Terrified any future release will personally bring me mediocrity.

/mu/sicians I need your help
I've been playing the bass for a year and played with a band (we are 3 long time friends) for all of it.
Yesterday we started creating our own music but when I try to play with the guitar it doesn't work. I don't know which notes I can/can't play. Do I have to train specifically for this ? Will it come with time ?
>>73805536
bass notes are just guitar notes an octave lower. it depends on the genre what notes you should play. what type of music is it?
Try Looking at some scales and then some arpegios :) dont loose your shit if it is too complicated at first :)
>starting a band with friends
One of you is going to get hurt
