their worst album since Your Favorite Weapon
So I know you guys think Burial doesn't play live, but you'd be wrong.
He does clandestine invite-only sets, one of which I attended last night. You have to be at least a friend of a friend of one of the people at hyperdub or associated biz people, basically. Maybe max 50 people at a time can attend one of these things. You're also only allowed to go if you swear not to reveal that you went - I think I'm technically breaking the rules here but I don't really plan to go to one again (they happen rarely) but 4chan is an anonymous board anyway.
This one was essentially a secret rooftop party overlooking one of he train lines in south London. He seemed quite serious and focused, but he's a damn good DJ. Don't forget that the Burial and Kode9 mix show back in 2006 was his mixing, so there's a good example. Anyways, he played a fuckton of unreleased material last night, loads of ambient interludes and new tunes, all OG shit I think. that unreleased Four Tet collab was played too. Apart from that he played loads of classic tunes as well, Distant Lights went off.
The whole set lasted about 2 hours and was supported by some random hyperdub people who were also there. Think it was Ozhkarp and The Bug, but I wasn't sure.
Anyways, AMA if you want. I know some of you guys like Burial so i figured I might post here and try to provide some insight.
bullshit
>>74660674
was Four Tet there, and if he was, is he Burial?
What does /mu/ think of this album? Favorite tracks? I tried it when it first came out but it was so damn longwinded and impenetrable, I didn't finish it. Yesterday I saw it in a library, loaned it and actually enjoyed it, it was much more of an easy listen. I have several favorite tracks but Chili Lemon Peanuts takes the cake, the boxing story is incredible.
Give Yellow Kitchen a try, OP.
shit

But I love nostalgia music
>>74660610
I remember seeing a band play at a club years ago introduce a song - "this song is called 'nostalgia', it's about remembering the past"
>song about how the artist doesn't know what to make a song about
How do I get into metal?
It starts, and ends, with Manowar.

Why the doors
ITT: Retards
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Thank god /mu/ is an actively anti nu-male board...

You're on fucking drugs if you honestly believe that.
