Can Mazinkaiser SKL be considered a cult classic of the 2010s the same way MD Geist and Violence Jack were for the 80s?
I remember some anons on /m/ losing their shit that a "forgettable" series like SKL had subs before the Gundam 00 movie.
Yet for this supposedly forgettable mindless action series, it's pretty unforgettable, due to its outrageous to down right retarded character, mecha designs and even story.

Given the popularity of the magic schoolgirl and mecha genre why hasn't there ever been a serious attempt at making a show combining the two (besides Rayearth)?
This is not be be confused with mecha musume or anything with henshin, mahou shoujo etc. I'm thinking something leaning towards real robot. Think Mai Hime / Otome except instead of studying for high school or training to be a princess bodyguard they are training to pilot gundams and commit war atrocities on Zeon forces whilst worrying about boyfriends/girlfriends and siblings.
Would /m/ watch it?

Love Live + Gundam
Something like Anaheim girls and AoZ. A team of female test pilots with the task of testing various prototypes. Male characters are there, but we see them rarely because they are fighting in the main front of the war.
Cute girls doing cute things... with mecha, occasionally some battle when their base is attacked and the Season final consists of crossing a battlefield and delivering the new prototype to the male protagonist.

Why couldn't Char be in ZZ? He has ever reason to want to stop Haman for winning. It would have be a perfect lead into Char's Counterattack to see him grow increasing bitter and disillusioned with how the AEUG command decides go along with the Federation's appeasement of her and make him realize how ineffective his speech at Dakar was. You can had great drama with him never getting along with Judau and near the end decided to join forces with Glemy Toto in an "The enemy of my enemy is my friend....for now." and all sort of other interesting things as Char reacts to the madness of the series that is not an anime. Tominio, you hack. We could have had a better series.
