So /lit/, I'm thinking of grabbing one of these. Is this a mistake??

I've got a load of ePubs on my tablet that are really annoying to read on. That e-ink looks delightful on the eyes.

Best reading investment I've made was buying an e-ink reader then paying visits to libgen. So much money and apartment space saved. Don't listen to the "muh book smell" regressivists.
>>
>>9241388
I have a kindle and its great, prefer it to paper books, don't know about Kobos in particular but I recommend e-readers to anyone
>>
It's objectively better but for me to read for hours on end, maybe even just an hour, it has to be a physical copy. We should just forget about this e reader vs book argument. People enjoy reading on different things and this literature itself is what matters. Say whatever you want but half of you fuckers haven't read a book in 2 months and wouldn't recognise a decent line of prose if it hit you in the face, so fuck off.

I'm not exactly a researcher, but I'm attending university and currently a course where we are practicing on making our own research. My field is really practical, so I didn't really think this would happen but... researching an interesting matter is really fulfilling and fun.

I live in a country where we get paid for studying. Makes easier to roleplay a real researcher.

Actually I'd rather kill myself in general, this life is not worth living anymore.

I'd love to do it, but I'm not cut out for an academic environment.

Where are all these contrarian opinions coming from? /lit/ heralded McCarthy as the best writer alive alongside Pynchon, and over the last year or so it's turned to threads like these

'I don't care,' he said, rubbing his eyes. 'You're an idiot.'

My creative writing professor said the attributive action 'rubbing his eyes' is incorrect here, because it reads like the character literally said 'rubbing his eyes'...

Now, which one of us is retarded? Me or my professor?

Your prof is retarded
>>
>>9241232

I'm going to have the cunt fired. It's bad enough that I'm being taught by retards. My professor is a poet and clearly has no business with prose.
>>
>>9241228
Your Prof sounds like one of those 14 year old 'grammar nazis ' that don't actually understand the appropriate terms on which types of grammar are used. Your extract reads fine.

How was he so right about literally everything? Is this the power of dialectics?

>lock yourself in a library for 20 years
>read virtually everything that you can read about the subject you're writing about
>on top of that have another guy who is reading everything you're reading and more who you can debate and write essays with
>on top of that take part in a group of extremely brilliant philosophers (such as the Young Hegelians) who will debate and proofread your ideas

This is basically what Marx did.

Reminder Engels used dialectics to accurately predict WW1

>“. . . No war is any longer possible for Prussia-Germany except a world war and a world war indeed of an extent and violence hitherto undreamt of. Eight to ten millions of soldiers will massacre one another and in doing so devour the whole of Eurepe until they have stripped it barer than any swarm of locusts has ever done. The devastations of the Thirty Years’ War compressed into three or four years, and spread over the whole Continent; famine, pestilence, general demoralisation both of the armies and of the mass of the people produced by acute distress; hopeless confusion of our artificial machinery in trade, industry and credit, ending in general bankruptcy; collapse of the old states and their traditional state wisdom to such an extent that crowns will roll by dozens on the pavement and there will be no body to pick them up; absolute impossibility of foreseeing how it will all end and who will come out of the struggle as victor; only one result is absolutely certain: general exhaustion and the establishment of the conditions for the ultimate victory of the working class.

>“This is the prospect when the system of mutual outbidding in armaments, taken to the final extreme, at last bears its inevitable fruits. This, my lords, princes and statesmen, is where in your wisdom you have brought old Europe. And when nothing more remains to you but to open the last great war dance—that will suit us all right (uns kann es recht sein ). The war may perhaps push us temporarily into the background, may wrench from us many a position already conquered. But when you have unfettered forces which you will then no longer be able again to control, things may go as they will: at the end of the tragedy you will be ruined and the victory of the proletariat will either be already achieved or at any rate (doch ) inevitable.

Frederick Engels”

Is planning a story procrastination? Shouldn't one be unencumbered, without a plan, so one can write whenever?

It depends on the story. If you're writing something historical or that has a lot of moving pieces, you better be working on structure, research, pacing, etc.
>>
>>9241046
Everyone writes differently. Some work better with planning, some don't, and it depends on the genre like >>9241057 says.
It's impossible to make a broad statement about this. The writer will know if what they're doing is procrastination or not.
>>
>>9241057

Agreed. But what did you mean by 'moving pieces'? I want to be a better writer, so knowing this distinction will help me.

What's this current obsession with hitting the gym? Shitloads of people my age all go to this box filled with stuff to pick up and do the most boring mechanic routines in order to achieve... what?
Abs? A "hawt bodayy" for girls to like? When you see /fit/fags talk it shouldn't be about that because then "you're 'that' guy". So apparantly it's for the homoerotic displays or some self-transcending value you can easily achieve through meditation.

Which is the most important example of riding the tiger you missed in that whole dumbfuck list, you somatic dolt.

Rare /lit/ pictures?

Pic related is the last known photograph of Franz Kafka.

Purportedly, he was attempting to produce a companion novel to The Castle, titled Amerika II, in which he would profile the African American man.

In this photo he meditates surrounded by watermelons, trying to channel the spirits of dead Negros.
