Being an officer's great if you have some kind of applicable skill, are smart, have a good record and can lead. It's not easy, that's why most people don't do it.

Leading doesn't just mean receiving, making and giving orders. You also have to lead by example for pretty much everything, even shit you don't know, and even shit that might not seem that important (like making sure you're never the guy that needs a haircut or a shave).

You can be an introvert, but you have to be able to act like you're not one. When you don't know something, you need to be able to acquire that knowledge, whether that means talking to another officer, or grabbing a Warrant, Sgt or other NCM and getting them to tell you how to do shit.

Also as for leading in a combat scenario (at least in the Canadian Forces) you'll be trained to lead a section on missions, basically the same sort of thing that an NCM would be trained in to become a MCpl (after ~8 years after they've joined). You're expected to learn a lot more, and a lot quicker than NCMs, and you're held to different, higher standards.

Well, if I saw the blinding light I wouldn't feel much of anything shortly afterwards. But if somehow a nuke landed close enough for me to survive the blast, I'd probably panic and chastise myself for not having the gear and food/water supplies to hole up in my house despite the past 4 years of nuke threads. I'd prolly ace myself once I figured out my DNA was deteriorating

If we're talking I somehow survived a full scale attack, and somehow dodged radiation sickness, and am stuck surviving the aftermath and my local/government response and management, I'm good to go, plenty of guns and ammo, the good kind of neighbors, in a state where police don't act like God,I don't have a stockpile of food or anything but I think I'd manage okay for awhile
