The purpose of a colony was to make money, not to benefit brown people.

In the end they just said fuck it. Attempts to try and get some parts of Africa stabilised before they left ended up falling apart due to acrimony between all involved. It was never as simple as "they left because they were no longer profitable".

It seems pretty well supported by Snurrlson's stuff, which is the biggest source of written material about Norse mythology.
