Why is Australia so much more successful than Canada despite being more isolated and populated by convicts?
>>2936583
Quebec prevents Canada from ever really being a proper nation
>>2936583
They're pretty much on the same level of success and eventually more settlers from Europe came to Australia rather then convicts.
Because Canada was populated instead by retards
I was a victim of a kind of covert draft.
I joined the military as supply, and thus expected a cushy time in the service, and for a while it was. Then all of a sudden I was forced into another MOS(civil affairs). I was sent to Iraq and was exposed to gruesome trauma and combat. I never asked for that, yet my being forced into combat situations is never acknowledged for what it is, something I never asked for. It is one thing if a guy signs up for infantry or whatever, they are aware of the potential risks involved, but how was my situation any different from a reluctant Vietnam draftee?
Why is the covert draft never talked about.
>>2936083
I feel some degree of sympathy for you but surely you were aware of the risks when you signed up.
>>2936083
>I volunteered to join the military
>Shockingly, they had me do military stuff
Well the good news is now you have free college, healthcare, and home loans.
>>2936083
Nobody who joins the military should expect a 'cushy time' as you put it. It's standard policy now to make sure almost everybody sees combat. You have a higher chance of that now than the men who fought in the world wars. The government exploits everybody, anon. That's it's job. You learned a valuable lesson, but don't expect anything to change.
Been reading about decolimization and from what I have read it really seems that a gradual process of decolinization would have gone a long way towards stabilizing the post colonial regimes especially in Africa.
The purpose of a colony was to make money, not to benefit brown people.
Once they became unprofitable, they were liquidated as quickly as possible.
yeah in retrospect we can say a lot of shit like that, but the bottom line is that colonizers didn't give two shits about africa and bolted the second it wasn't in their best interests
>>2935922
>seems that a gradual process of decolinization would have gone a long way towards stabilizing the post colonial regimes especially in Africa.
That's a fucking no brainer Anon.
The problem is that
>America demanded the European powers decolonise as soon as possible
>post-war poverty meant that the Europeans could no longer even maintain any control to the extent needed to keep stability
>all of the local western-educated elite were agitating, encouraging the natives to rise up in communist revolutions etc.
>liberals on the home front in Europe demanding that the colonies be given up immediately
In the end they just said fuck it. Attempts to try and get some parts of Africa stabilised before they left ended up falling apart due to acrimony between all involved. It was never as simple as "they left because they were no longer profitable".

How did France not go communist/socialist after WW2? Communism/Socialism seemed to have huge support post-war and seeing how Free France, which was jammed packed full of communists of all types, being the only form of French armed forces after the allies left. So, again, why didn't the tricolore just turn all red?
Same reason as Italy, the Allies (U.S. and the UK) wouldn't let it.

It's become the norm to characterize Odin as being a cruel, untrustworthy god not unlike Loki. Do you agree with this interpretation of him?
>>2934938
It seems pretty well supported by Snurrlson's stuff, which is the biggest source of written material about Norse mythology. Whether or not Snurrlson himself is representative of actual Norse pagan beliefs is less clear though, and as a Christian, he would have an incentive to paint their gods in a less favorable light.
Still, things like the Lokasenna and the Hárbarðsljóð (If you buy that the ferryman is in fact Odin) do make him out to be a rather massive dick.
I don't see why him being a dick is unsurprising, he has to ensure the Indo-Europeans win at Ragnarok, he doesn't have time for being nice.
The entire Nordcuck race is cruel and untrustworthy so it's not surprise their gods follow suit.
Are French the most despicable people of the WW2?
>lose horribly to the Germans in the most pathetic way imaginable
>collaborate with the Germans on a grand scale when the rest of the occupied countries put up resistance (French Resistance is a meme and only became a thing after Germans were sure to lose the war)
>think they have any say in the matter of things when the Anglos and Americans had to save their frog asses from Germans and Soviets.
>French Resistance is a meme
The SCW veteran units in the south fought from day one, then again they weren't French
Don't forget De Gaulle asking the americans to leave Paris and giving the allies no credit, saying in his speech he liberated Paris.
Don't forget the French evacuated to England who demanded to be returned so they could fight for Vichy France.
Utterly despicable

I don't know enough specifically about Roman medics to tell you if this is accurate, however it wouldn't surprise me at all. Until fairly recently in history medical attention was as likely to kill you as cure you.

Bruh people still attempt to cure terminal and emergency cases of illness with prayer.

>daily redressing of the wound
I don't get what you find weird, this is all quite correct. Short of sterilized tools and antibiotics it's the same shit we do nowadays.

Lemme guess. The Greeks are the bad guys and the Persians dindu nuffin. Bet he mentions the Cyrus Cylander too, to prove how much more 'advanced' (progressive) the Persians were.
>>2934332
He implies it would have been better for the Greeks to let themselves be conquered
If you're actually interested in Persian history I suggest you chech out "The History of the Persian Empire" by Albert Olmstead.
On a semi-related note, Extra History is doing a series on Kamehameha.
