Always struggled with my faith, and I keep getting drawn back to Christianity. Although I have some skepticism. I mean, how did Adam and Eve just appear? How do millions of years of evolution just mean nothing? And Noah making an arc for all the animals? Give me a break. Am I not understanding something here? I don't know why I don't believe this, is it all supposed to be symbolic?
No, it was supposed to keep the Jews and early Christians from rebelling every few years.
Did you seriously think there would be deep truths found in a book compiled by government fiat?
lol dude it's all horseshit. Imagine if you were a really smart dude thousands of years ago without any knowledge of modern math, science, or history. You can say something and people will fucking believe you because they can't fact check you because facts don't exist yet in a modern sense.
>you know I'm willing to entertain the idea of a supreme being literally willing the universe into existence but the part where he tells desert dwelling pastoralist bovine farmers in 5000 BC how to live by appearing as a burning bush is where I arbitrarily cross the line because it totally ruins my suspension of disbelief
I will post three pictures. I want you to tell me what I am thinking about.

I have heard that all quiet on the Western front is a colourful factual report of WWI written by an author who certainly served for longer than a month on the front.

For British memoirs, try the famousn ones like Siegfried Sassoon’s so-called Sherston trilogy, three volumes of autobiographical accounts published between 1928 and 1936, and Richard Aldington’s Death of a Hero, from 1929.
like Islam is centuries behind Christianity and Judaism when it comes to modern social standards
>>2927255
By definition it's always 6 centuries behind Christianity.
It needs to have a reform
>>2927255
Because the countries it is practiced in didn't see the technical and consequently societal progress that Jewish and Christian countries experienced.
Don't worry though deep down biologically we are all still violent chimps.

I'm at that point where I can't figure out what is real and what is conspiracy theory about the Freemasons.
The Freemasons were certainly over-represented in early American leadership.
>>2927249
>The Freemasons were certainly over-represented in early American leadership.
The Freemasons were basically just a social club that encouraged free thinking and Enlightenment ideals, which meant it was a place (kind of the only one at the time) that would have encouraged the kind of thinking that led to the revolution in the first place. The founding fathers were a bunch of rich, educated men who loved the Enlightenment, and Freemasonry was their secret clubhouse. Of course there was an overrepresentation, it's where they all got the idea from.

Unless the idea for the United States was thought up in London and Paris before anything happened in the colonies.
Then it WAS a plot.
Remember that this guy is a war criminal and the only reason he wasn't hanged was because they won the war.
Harris aimed to destroy civilians and none other. fuck him
His most criminal act is that he didn't finish the job.

why didn't Zoroastrianism spread like wildfire like Christianity and islam did? It seems to be very similar, was strong enough to survive till today despite being opressed, and it had a potential head start of milleniums. Did Zoroaster command his followers to not spread his religion or something?
Zorastrians didn't think the end of the world was immanent so they didn't have the same time pressure
Pretty sure Zoroastrianism was similar to Hinduism in that it spans a large civilization space but doesn't really go beyond it. manichaeism (which was heavily influenced by Zoroastrianism) also had many followers for centuries.
Filthy sandniggers wiped it out.
I finished Silence last night and was wondering why the Japanese hated and persecuted Christians so much. I don't have much knowledge of Old Japan.
Because Christians are cancer
>>2927097
Anything not-Japanese is fair game for them. They only considered themselves human; everyone else was sub-human. Christianity of course would take them away from their Shinto roots, as they believed their dead watched over them, and Christianity stands opposed to that.
>>2927100
Humanity is cancer. Christianity is the cure.
While undoubtedly European, should we consider the Slavic-Orthodox world part of the West as it's commonly understood? Do you personally consider these countries to be Western nations?
>>2927088
yeah they get blamed for hitler and slavery like the rest of us. why not
>>2927088
No, they simply are not. Also your op pic is wrong, most countries there are not orthodox
>>2927119
>. Also your op pic is wrong, most countries there are not orthodox
I meant to include all slavs and all orthodox nations. I know they aren't synonymous. Also the Baltics and Hungary are neither orthodox nor slavic but are oftentimes considered Eastern Europe.
When and how do you think the American Empire will collapse?

when the electrical grid goes down
>>2927062
European % will go down enough where they can't uphold the inferiors by themselves or where the inferior takes control through modern democratic vote
Why isn't Sichuanese considered its own language rather than just a dialect of Mandarin? Apparently it shares less lexical similarity with Mandarin than Spanish does with Portuguese or French does with Italian.
>Only 47.8% of Sichuanese vocabulary is in common with the Beijing dialect on which Standard Chinese is based; indeed Sichuanese shares more vocabulary with the Xiang and Gan varieties of Chinese, even though Sichuanese is usually classified as a dialect of Mandarin.[1]
>Although "Sichuanese" is often synonymous with the Chengdu-Chongqing dialect, there is still a great amount of diversity among the Sichuanese dialects, some of which are mutually unintelligible with each other or standard Mandarin.
>It has 5 tones instead of 4, and somewhat different grammar rules.
> Although Sichuanese is generally classified as a dialect of Mandarin Chinese, it is highly divergent in phonology, vocabulary, and even grammar from Standard Chinese.[61]
Pic unrelated.
because Sichuan is only good for their spicy food which is great btw
t. Chinese dude
>>2927055
ONE CHINA, you indubitably imperialist trickster of dissents! With highly cramped arms will we tirelessly toil for the language of unity in our land. Peking dialect is an obvious neutral choice.
Because Chinese "dialects" would actually be considered as different languages by our standards. Sichuanese vs Standard Mandarin is much less different that Cantonese Vs. Mandarin.
Is there a major civilizaztion that doesn't get any Wewuzzin?
but anon there were Nubian Kings of Egypt...
>>2927050
It's not just Egypt. You get Niggas and Whiteys Wewuzzin about Carthage, Iran, India, the Near East...
>>2927040
No, literally everybody "WE WUZZ"es.
To put it in the /pol/ perspective that seems to have permeated into every board..... One of the hardest red pills to swallow is that almost everyone, everywhere throughout all of time are niggers.
What´s left for a Christian who accepts the prevalent view among biblical scholars and archeologists that the Israelites were not fully monotheistic before the Babylonian exile and the Hebrew history contained in the OT is most likely a retroactive priestly fabrication?
What consequences do these facts bare upon the Christian religion and Christ´s life and ministry, seeing that Jesus most likely lived and died in the time and in the way it is described in the gospels? And what about the existence of God and the supernatural? Are these all denied just because the OT is a fabricated book? Can one still believe in Christ, God, the Resurrection and Final Judgement if the OT is fabricated, or must one necessarily become a Cultural Christian or Christian Deist (or even Christian Agnostic)?
One only begins to appreciate Christianity's true revolutionary potential
You should be a christian for jesus' teachings, not for the incest rape stories from OT.
also, the bible has been proven to have been changed over the years, to suit contemporary political views for example, and goliath growing from 2 to 3 meters also comes to mind.
Bottom line, the bible can't be trusted, best you can do as christian is guess what the bible used to say, or better yet, invision how the perfect entities would have acted in various scenarios, and try to replicate said behaviour
>>2926892
you can't be a christian only on Jesus's teaching anon. Jesus is supposed to be a figure prophecied in the OT and the gospels are filled with supposedly fulfilled OT prophecies. Jesus even meets several OT figures and claims that Abraham knew about him. Jesus believed that Moses wrote the Torah and if you accept the views of biblical scholars that he didn't, this view by Jesus comes into conflict with the idea that he as God was omniscient
