How come Sweden never managed to seize Norway until 1815?

Norway was an irrelevant, poor and useless shithole for majority of its history.

The land had no significance.

1969: First ATM opens for business
>On this day in 1969, America’s first automatic teller machine (ATM) makes its public debut, dispensing cash to customers at Chemical Bank in Rockville Center, New York. ATMs went on to revolutionize the banking industry, eliminating the need to visit a bank to conduct basic financial transactions. By the 1980s, these money machines had become widely popular and handled many of the functions previously performed by human tellers, such as check deposits and money transfers between accounts. Today, ATMs are as indispensable to most people as cell phones and e-mail.

Republican forms of government or in broader terms any government where the populace has some sort of say in statutory decisions will nurture public discord

Compare high medieval Europe to the Roman republic or the late Empire.

How would history be different if the July plot had been successful and hitler was killed? How would the war have changed? what would have happened?

Most likely a mini-civil war ensues between the putschists, the SS and other various elements, which only furthers chaos and brings Allies closer to victory.

If the Stauffenberg clique prevails they probably ask for a separate peace with the Western Allies (with USSR it was next to impossible). They're basicaly a Nazi-lite group and Allies refuse. The Germans give up the fight earlier because of infighting and because no one knows what to do next. Germany is still taken and occupied by Allies, though the measures are probably not as harsh.

Capitalism without economic growth is a zero sum game. In order to grow, the economy needs more energy and natural resources or being more efficient in its production processes.

Our planet is finite and our capacity to increase efficiency is limited by thermodynamics.

Therefore, unless we develop cold fusion and colonize the space, capitalism is doomed to be destroyed due to revolts against an increasing accumulation of wealth in the hands of less people.

>>
>>3324373
>is a zero sum game
False.

>the economy needs more energy and natural resources
False

>more efficient in its production processes
One of many ways to increase wealth

>planet is finite
Yes, although we're thousands and thousands of years away from running out of anything.

>capitalism is doomed to be destroyed because of wealth disparity
False. Wealth disparity is the rule, not the exception throughout history.

Capitalism is by far the best we've got. Nothing will replace it nor should anything replace it.
>>
>>3324373

There is an pretty much infinite resources on our planet, light from the sun.

How do thermodynamics limit our ability to increase productivity?

Lastly, this increasing accumulation of wealth in the hands of less people is not certain to happen at all.

No they did not.
They so many men, half their allies and Russia was not incorporated into the continental system. Furthermore the defeats in Russia highered the morale for Napoleon's enemies and slowly ate away at his men. There was no success in that campaign at all. What >>3324297 said could have forced the fragmented Russian army to fight on for some more but i don't think it would have made a long enough impression on the long run.

How were arabs able to create such a huge empire and the second largest religion in the world?

They were originally nomads in a unhospitable desert, and i'm assuming they didn't have a huge population either

The Quran is notably similar to the Torah, so that helped convert the jewish arabs. That and the heavy taxes they inflicted on non-muslims. And war.
I'm not using this to bash on islam but historically and even today, they are definitely not a religion of peace, otherwise it wouldnt exist.

Arabs used the desert like the british use the sea. They can freely travel the desert, using towns like Damascus or Kufa that border the desert like port cities, using camel trains to conduct trade across the desert.

Like how the British maintained an empire of the seas, the Arabs maintained an empire of the desert. The used towns on the border of the desert as their main garrisons and strongholds to exert influence over the region.

When they attack, they attack from the desert, which is difficult to defend against because most people don't expect an attack from the desert. Also they had very powerful cavalry.

In terms of their administration, the Ummayads were a family of expert merchants. They already had a long history as merchants in mecca for hundreds of years, trading substances such as myrrh and jewels with the romans.

The Arabs ruled by pretty much preserving the same beauracracy they had, they had very good relations with the local christians.

Mu'awiya's wife was a christian and his administration was basically full of Christians of Damascus.

Its true the Arabs were mostly desert nomad tribes, but the ruling families of the Caliphates were merchant families and craftsmen. The Arab empires relied heavily on trade.

In fact the reason Muhammad created the Hajj pilgrimage was that so Mecca, a city that benefited heavily from trade with Romans, would always remain a wealthy trading city as every muslim would have to make pilgrimage to it, and it would always make money off them and remain wealthy in trade.

They weren't nomads in the desert. Arabia has a desert in the middle, but that's not where the population resides.

tfw you realise that the reason that islam is a violent warlike religion bent on conquest is because the Prophet Muhammad was actually a proto-ba'athist Arab nationalist who wanted to unify the arabs and turn them into a superpower; but because Arabs are hardheaded and stubborn about their tribalism, they didn't listen to his message of unity in the beginning so the only way he could unite them and turn them into an empire was by doing it through force and military conqeusts. Same way Salahuddin managed to unite them by force and conquests before expelling the crusaders and liberating Jerusalem.
