Google's new kernel Fuchsia is getting a face

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/05/googles-fuchsia-smartphone-os-dumps-linux-has-a-wild-new-ui/?comments=1

I'm a Linux fag, but I can understand why they switch to a non-GPL microkernel. Linux is terrible for consumer devices.

no, it will take years until Fuchsia will be available on one of those devices, my guess it's ready in 2019

No can do

I'm about to spend ~ $103 for an ((ebook)) from the publisher pearson. This trigonometry class requires the mymathlab bullshit, and the access card alone ($123) costs more than my uni's package. My question is, how do I rip the book from the site? I was thinking of writing a script to automatically take screenshots of each page, but I'm not sure about this.

Has anyone ever done this before? The package in question is "Student access for MyMathLab with eText for Sullivan, Precalculus 10e". Also just realized we're using a precalc book for trig, wtf.

Don't buy it, Anon.
You might get copy-protected, DRM version which would require 3rd party plugins for Adobe Reader to open. (It happened for me)

So I recently let a friend borrow a external HHD with a fuckton of anime on it, and he claimed it didn't work, which is crazy cause it was working when I used it yesterday, and he gave it back to me today, so I decided to plug it in to see what might be the issue and it's legit not turning on or anything. What could possible be the issue? Like it's not a huge issue but I'd rather not lose a terabyte of anime

Sup /g/, I was looking for a light-gaming laptop with comfy screen and decent keyboard for coding. Before you ask, I can't find fair deals on second hand thinkpads in my country, so I came across to this laptop. What's your ideas on it? Here's a quick rundown from some random website:
Pros
>+Overall good build quality and tasteful design
>+Good touchpad
>+Super easy maintenance
>+Efficient cooling system (GPU-focused)
>+Outstanding battery life
>+The screen doesn’t use PWM above 55 cd/m2 brightness
>+Good price/performance ratio (applies to most regions)
Cons
>-Flimsy lid with thick and sharp screen bezels
Lackluster TN display
>-The screen uses PWM from 0 to 99% screen brightness (the Health-Guard profile fixes that)
>-The keyboard isn’t exactly gaming-oriented
>-Low CPU frequency target under heavy load
>-Lacks USB-C 3.1 (Gen 1) connector

What was Dell thinking when planting the worst TN panel on such an impressive laptop's face? Later on, they introduced IPS options (hd and 4k) but unfortunately a lot of countries don't have that option besides USA.
I really like the easy one-screw disassembly, dualfans and light built-in subwoofer, but the TN panel is just bullshit. I see that there are ways to replace the TN panel with an IPS on youtube vids, but why would I want to mod a freshly bought device? Wouldn't that void the warranty?

Is a Linux-Distro/Win10 dual boot setup the only sensible solution right now?

Win10 for gaymes and Linux for everything else?

My biggest hope is that Microsoft will do more stupid shit, enough that even normies will turn and more focus will be put on Linux-gayming.

Does Google even realize the reason Android has so much marketshare is it runs on practically anything? This is going to bomb hard.
