Not caught up to the thread? No worries! Each of these stories, with a few exceptions, is relatively self-contained. Though obviously the more you've read, the more you'll like it.

If anyone's not aware of what this anon means, here's the best summary of the events I've read:
http://www.comicsbeat.com/renae-deliz-ray-dillon-and-the-eternal-war-of-creators-and-publishers/
>>92034131
It was a good idea
I get kind of a storybook vibe from this in the same way as The True Amazon
>>92034093
Hey Tex.
Legend, eh? I just realized how weird it is that publishers can basically make their own official webcomics now. That is essentially what this is, and I don't know how to feel about that.
B-but the Amazons weren't immortal until AFTER the raping!
>>92034204
There's a lot of advantages to the system. Webcomics are easy to keep up with because they come out every week or even multiple times a week.
>>92034229
Eh, Golden Age Lyta was. Sorta. Silver Age certainly.
>>92034259
And IIRC this entire thing draws heavily from Golden Age Wondie
>>92034146
I would've loved vol 2 desu
And they had ideas for other heroes
>>92034188
>Menalippe is one of the original leaders
I find this fairly amusing, since if you'll recall, Menalippe is a bit of a dope. She can see the future, but not the fact her gods are a bunch of toxic assholes.
>>92034093
Thank you, anon. I truly believe this is the best Wonder Woman book since a while, and no doubt the best "Year One" Wondy story ever.
It's far from perfect, but it's much better than everything else, Morrison's Earth One and Rucka's Year Zero included
Here's something not in post-Crisis
Speaking of web comics. ZUDA 9 of 12
DC entered the world of webcomics with 2007's Zuda Comics, which not only saw the publisher offer all-new webcomics, but also invite submissions from new creators to join the site. Zuda lasted until 2010, when DC began to release titles digitally through comiXology and shuttered the imprint to focus on digital releases instead of webcomics.
Signature Book: Jeremy Love's award-winning Bayou, a magical realist take on the myths and horrors of the American South in the 1930s.
Lasting Legacy:Bayou along with another series, High Moon, continued as digital releases for some time after the closing of Zuda, and print collections of both series remain available.
>>92034314
Vol 2 was going to follow the Batman 66'/Wonder Woman 77's cross-over where WW would meet an little Bruce and basically be his mommy through the ages. I think she'd also meet little Clark.
>>92034315
Yeah IIRC she was the third Amazon to emerge from the lake. She's more of their religious/spiritual leader.
Jill Thompson got a few Eisner noms today:
>Best Graphic Album—New
>Wonder Woman: The True Amazon by Jill Thompson (DC Comics)
>Best Painter/Multimedia Artist (interior art)
>Jill Thompson, Wonder Woman: The True Amazon (DC); Beasts of Burden: What the
Cat Dragged In (Dark Horse)
>>92034353
>and basically be his mommy through the ages
wew
>>92034369
She definitely deserves the nom for Painter. True Amazon is gorgeous.
CMX 2 of 12
DC's attempt to get into the manga market, CMX lasted six years despite initial controversy when it was revealed that material such as Tenjho Tenge was being edited so that it would be able to marketed to a wider audience.
Signature Book: Likely Tenjho Tenge, if only for the amount of attention its editing received. Alternately, Fred Gallagher's Megatokyo, a webcomic that CMX collected in print editions.
Lasting Legacy: Sadly, none of the CMX titles remain in print at DC Comics, although Viz picked up Tenjho Tenge (uncensored) and Kodanasha has Megatokyo now.
>>92034353
See I like that
That's cute
I remember there wastiny Alfredin this so it would've been cute to see him again with tiny Bruce
>>92034372
N-not like that! The writer said they'd just meet each other throughout the ages in different parts in the world and that she would be a good influence on him. She'd also help Clark not feel so different and inspire him.
FOCUS 5 of 12
One of DC's irregular attempts to provide alternatives to the traditional superhero, Focus or DC Focus, as it was alternatively called, offered stories of people with super powers that didn't involve costumes or even fighting crime. That clearly wasn't something that the readers of 2004 wanted, though. Despite four strong titles, the imprint was dead by mid-2005.
Signature Book: Steve Gerber, Mary Skenes and Brian Hurtt's Hard Time, about a teen in jail as his psychic powers emerge, managed to survive the imprint and get a second series as a "DC Comics"-branded title, as well as a recent collected edition.
Lasting Legacy:Hard Time's continued status under the DC brand.
>>92034398
I remember CMX, I even read some of Tenjo Tenge.
Unfortunately it didn't seem to have much going for it outside tits and violence.
So cute!Almost makes you forget that they're the reincarnated spirits of women who were brutally murdered
>Troia
Is she... Asian?
Also not totally sure about how this works. So the original Amazons are immortal, but their babies are mortal?
>>92034253
I makes one wonder if webcomics will eventually lose their indie flare. If publishers, who have access to resources and staff, attempt to capitalize on them, there's no telling how it will change things in a currently purely creator driven medium.
And keep in mind that several creators have managed to make a solid living for themselves, so it's not like there isn't money in it. And said creators don't have the power of pop culture branding to work with.

Webcomics seem kind of like modern indie music, where you need it to be free for people to try it, and then you depend on people liking it enough to purchase the CD or the book.

>canon JL8
>>92034550
No idea what made DC digital first a success maybe the price 99 cent.
>>92034526
Yes
>>92034571
Also it had their major brands on it, Legends of the Dark Knight, Adventures of Superman, Batman Beyond and Justice League Beyond, and Batman '66.
Oh, and of course INJUSTICE probably being the far and away biggest one.
>>92034550
If I remember right Atomic Robo is now a webcomic.
And it still releases floppies so they're just doubling down on their income.

Well, shit, now you got me thinking if Chloe from Life is Strange would be a Wonder Woman fan.

Wow, I really like this angle. Very Silver Age.
>>92034811
Pretty much. Diana, bruce babs.
In post-Crisis, Diana has the ability to go into a trance and experience a dreamlike land where all the mythological gods and creatures live. This seems like Themyscira straight-up just IS that land.

>>92035327
... I hate just about everything in this trailer.

>using shield instead of bracelets
>Etta is British, for some reason
>washed out, grimy color pallet
I actually don't mind Gadot's accent, but I have a terrible feeling she'll end up being boring as hell.
Also, the secretary line is fucking nothing. Etta just poorly described what a secretary is, and Diana said what you expect her to say since this movie is only pretending to be feminist.
>>92035604
>Greek mythology really is just ancient comic books
"It's different for Gods"
t. Marvel Ares
I like that this does have a compromise between the classic Amazons and the Azzarello-style "realistic" Amazons. I don't know if I prefer it, but it would actually have been a really good thing to retcon into being the Rebirth origin.
>>92035625
The accent is OK with me because post-Crisis they kept saying she had an "exotic" accent, which I don't like but it at least has basis in the comics.
There are parts of the trailer that look kind of alright, but then it cuts to her running around with a sword and shield and blowing up a jeep. It really confirms to me that Patty Jenkins really tried to make this a Wonder Woman movie but Hollywood needs it to be a Xena Woman movie, and I bet people are going to complain about the movie feeling like two movies shoved together.
Also yeah with the modern socially acceptable kind of GRIL POWR feminism. It's toothless. What do you accomplish by criticizing the treatment of women literally one hundred years ago?
It's sad because, while I can't say anything for Jenkins' ability as a filmmaker, I read a lot of interviews with her and she clearly did a lot of research for this movie. I haven't read anything with Heinberg concerning the script but in Who Is Wonder Woman he did at least try to bring together her entire history instead of just post-KC
>>92035668
it was essentially done to have a nice collected edition with an easy origin that can branch into any of her runs, especially in time for the movie
>>92035808
Last week's comics had a bunch of WW books advertised at the end, I can't remember if Legend was one of them
>>92035668
Yeah, LoWW is very balanced, manages to amalgam pretty much everything.
They'd just need to reveal the Amazons weren't really all that "nice" before being sealed away and the immortal leaders proceeding to edit the worst parts of their history just to make them a little less perfect, and it'd be gold
BTW Texas Anon I wanted to ask.
Are you reading God Country and if so your opinion on it?
As a fellow Texan I admit to an instant interest in stories that take place in my state. Bit of a bias I know but eh whatareyagonnado.
>>92035834
Nope, it's got Azzarello's first volume, Rebirth vol 1, Rebirth Year One, Earth One, some "Greatest Battles" thing with a Frank Cho cover, and the new edition of the first Perez trade which for some reason they chose to use her wrapped in tentacles fighting a snake as the cover.
Earth One is kind of a bad place to start, DESU
>>92034829
Troia is actually more like "whore"
>>92035854
Haven't read that because I'm honestly pretty casual when it comes to non-cape comics, really behind on my Image stuff. But I also like stuff that uses Texas as a setting because, well, Texas is just a great setting.
>>92035804
From what i've read in the movie Ares hates mankind because he thinks Zeus favors them and thus set out to drive to drive men mad. In order to stop Ares then Zeus created the amazons to serve as teachers to mankind, showing them how to love and such. But eventually mankind drive mad by Zeus turned on the amazons enslaving, forcing Zeus to create Paradise Island as a safe heaven for the amazons. Then Zeus and Ares fought and Ares killed Zeus.
In the movie the amazons are peaceful, but Diana's rebellious and once she meets Steve she decided to steal the various magical weapons there and follow him to Man's World to kill Ares, who she thinks is behind WWI. For that she takes a sword called the Godkiller, which is said to be the only thing capable of killing Ares.
So while the amazons are peaceful, WW herself is not and is on a murder mission to save the world.
So I guess De Liz did have a point about DC not advertising this series.
Gotta take a quick break to do some things around the house, be back in ten
>>92035760
>Also yeah with the modern socially acceptable kind of GRIL POWR feminism. It's toothless. What do you accomplish by criticizing the treatment of women literally one hundred years ago?
You accomplish nothing aside from satisfying the egos of circlejerking idiots who don't actually understand anything about feminism.
If I may go on a tangent, is why I'm a Tamora Pierce fan. That lady actually knows how to write good feminist literature. One of the best things about those books is the acknowledgement that, frankly, yes, it IS harder for a girl to be a badass. But that only means that if you want to accomplish your goal, you have to work twice as hard. It's harsh, but that's what makes it more satisfying.
And that's what sucks about so called "modern feminism", it isn't feminism at all. It's a large scale attempt at a fucking hugbox. Go read Protector of the Small, you ninnies!
>>92035960
it varies from context and zone... it's quite generic
>>92036061

>>92035834
well yea, given how the relationship with De Liz ended, I'm sure they don't really want to pimp her work anymore
>>92036410
It's pretty fucked up because this is super good.
Like Perez's run, this solidly establishes a world, mythos, and characterization that other stories can naturally branch out from. I really do love Rucka's Year One but compared to this it's pretty limited in scope.
However my favorite part of that was when Diana first got to Man's World so we'll see if this does it as well as it was done there.
The idea of the Amazons being fairly culturally stagnant makes more sense if they're ALL immortals, IMO. When you have several generations growing up and getting old over thousands of years you'd think there'd be some more advancement.
Menallipe looks like she doesn't get much sleep.
That sperg from yesterday got me thinking. I would pay good money for The Superior Foes of Wonder Woman.
Though it would more likely be titled Villainy Incorporated. Still though.
Impeach Hippolyta!

I was fairly certain I would like this from all the praise it's gotten, but I'm surprised just how much I love it so far. Diana's youth and upbringing has always been something bizarrely unexplored in her comics.
>>92036826
Probably, i guess.
>>92036799
Maybe he's Johnny Cloud? And the other characters are other DC war comic characters?

>>92036827

>>92036921
True.
I bet there was a controversial play where everyone dressed up like naked men.
What, was he riding a fucking meteor?
>Melanippe
Oh fuck, wait. This is genuinely a DIFFERENT character than Menalippe.
Oh jesus they extracted an entire black man from her!
>>92036827
It's a very simplistic story, but it works so far.
Diana's childhood going unexplored is likely tied in with many writers being kind of reluctant to put much focus on Themyscira itself. Sure, plenty of runs have stuff happen on the island, but the focus is usually on outside influences, even in regards to politics, where it's more often than not arguing on how to deal with exterior events.
Honestly, it may indeed be the case that an all female society is something that weirds most people out too much (see the depressingly common argument that Diana is more alien than Clark) so usually it's only the long time fan writers who ever write stories about Amazon culture in a way that doesn't make them out to be assholes.
Tip your fedoras all you like, that's just how I see it.
>>92037085
>Oh jesus they extracted an entire black man from her!
..l-l-LEWD!|
OK so I'm picking up on some things. Antiope is still alive and a dick. I guess Menalippe doesn't even exist in this continuity, or hasn't shown up yet.
>>92037115
>see the depressingly common argument that Diana is more alien than Clark
Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth will always bug me because of it. This continued attempt to show Diana completely disconnected from normal people and even being conceited enough to think of herself as superior both physically and morally annoys me greatly.
And Melanippe is different from Menalippe, instead of an oracle she's a worshiper of Hades, but still Hippolyta's sister?
>>92037115
>an all female society is something that weirds most people out too much
Yep that's what Jimenez said and I think he's right. You have people like Byrne who's basically unable to write a female character, and then on the other side you have Azzarello who just made all the Amazons angry cunts.
>>92037198
I absolutely hate Spirit of Truth. Dini just doesn't get Wonder Woman at all.
Phillipus better be coming back later.
She will come back later, right...?
>I'm sorry, Wonder Woman, but we cannot admit you into our Super-Hero club!
>>92037256
what will happen with Philuppus is, IMHO, one of the few bad parts of this comic
Phew
>>92037346

>>92034372
So immortals can't have children but we know gods reproduce through sex.
You know, THIS could be a pretty good Wonder Woman game. Young, powerless Diana going around the wilds of Themyscira fighting monsters, foraging for food, riding kangasso basically Breath of the Wild. And of course raiding tombs and dungeons. She can slowly get powers from magical items she finds in caves.
>>92037361
It's not what you are thinking. It's, IMHO, worse.
>>92037411
Bonus points because it doesn't uses standard Greek... I think it's partially mixed with phoenician?
>>92037444
Gods just do whatever the hell they want
>Hey. Wanna bang?
One kinda shitty thing about going into Diana's childhood is that you can't really have Artemis there for an adorable lifelong rivalry, since the Bana-Migdhall don't reunite with the Themyscirans til way later.
Yeah, the Azz run had Aleka, but she's not Artemis, so it's not the same. Not edgy enough. Though the tsundere thing would fit quite nicely.
>English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early medieval England
Fucking inaccurate bullshit
>>92037507
I'd be down with some kind of story about the Amazons and the Bana-Mighdallans meeting once a year for some kind of contest. Just explain it with god shenanigans.
It wouldn't really fit with anything that happened with them post-Crisis but everything got fucking retconned anyway, might as well make the most of it
True Amazon also has that one girl Diana wanted to hatefuck

>>92037507
You can have Donna as the young sister with inferiority complex that tries to get Diana into problem or prove she's better/more mature than Diana.
>>92037616
That'd be cool, too. Stop making her backstory so fucking complicated.
The Little Mermaid would have been very different if when the prince guy saw Ariel singing, she just dragged him down to add to her collection in that cave.
Also you'd think the waters around the island would be like Castaway where it's basically impossible to get out
>>92037636
What? My follow up post was to say Donna should be revealed to be the dark impulses that were exorcised by from Diana by the amazon priestess, so now Donna's like Diana's evil soul twin. They'll be destined to always be at odds with one another until one day they'll merge together, but both Diana and Donna are aware of this possible outcome and thus Donna fear Diana because she doesn't want to stop existing.

I'm always down for Donna being more involved with her sort of native franchise.
>>92037636
They either need to either make her Diana's normal ass sister, or embrace her status as a temporal anomaly. 52 already presented a perfectly good fix with potential for stories to go with it. Just do that.
>>92037749
eh, I'm going to take it as "I am incredibly good at learning languages"
Remember, she managed to learn MANDARIN somehow
I love this take on Diana and Steve relationship. Steve representing the devil may care type of guy who just wants to live freely and do whatever adventures he fancy. Diana being this responsible girl who shoulder the weight of her duties and follow the rules.
>>92037852
During the Invasion crossover, Diana showed Rocket Red that she could speak Russian.
Then in the space pirate Diana arc of WML's run, she couldn't speak Russian to her astronaut friend and they had to communicate in Greek.
I threw my tablet against the wall, deleted everything off my PC that was written by Messner-Loebs, and sent him 83 death threats in the mail.

Nice concept to use the Gods as Stands.
>>92037995
>the whole comic was just one big hidden JoJo reference
>we are not brutish outsiders from times of old
>>92038008
>HE'S YOURS NOW, WILL YOU LET THE OTHER AMAZONS TAKE HIM FROM YOU?
So within a couple of years, we have Earth One, an origin inspired by Golden Age Wonder Woman; this, an origin inspired by Silver Age Wonder Woman; and Year One, an origin inspired by post-Crisis Wonder Woman.
>GET OVER HERE
And here you have what would have been your mandatory first act action scene if this were a movie.

>I'm bleeding! Making me the victor!
Polly just doesn't look right without Phillipus next to her.
>>92038205
The idea of amazons having factions based on the gods they worship is really cool. It helps make them more diverse and create material to have stories taking place sorely in Paradise Island. Also STANDS!
Get this hothead out of here
>>92037995
>>92038008
>>92038045
Not to self: Nuke Japan. They must be punished for creating Jojo fans.
>>92038260
It allows you to have clearly defined groups, so the Ares faction is warlike and violent, the Athena faction are militant man-haters, Aphrodite is the peace and free-love tribe, etc.
>>92038304
I've never even read or seen JoJo
>>92038324
Yup. So when the inevitability of the "amazons turn bad" story come you can have only one section of them be villainous, not all, and you also can have stories about the various sections facing off each others in the island without the need of ever showing WW.
>>92038379
Yup! They could have done Amazons Attack without having to ruin absolutely everything
I hope that at some point once Diana "proves herself" the gods just make these powers inherent instead of tied to the items. I don't want stories where she goes OOPS DROPPED MY SHOES, NOW I CAN'T FLY
>>92038393
Kinda wish we had this in the main canon now.
>>92038433
Same. I love Year One but I'm so enamored by how much more detail this goes into in terms of Themyscira and how much story possibility it opens up.
And notice none of these items are a fucking sword or battle axe
This reminds me of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
>>92038423
Hmmm... i don't know. I hate when WW is shown to be a naturally born meta, because writers have a tendency to show her as full of herself. Even when her powers are shown to be blessings she gained much later in life, writers still do that.
With her powers coming from magical items you kinda sidestep that issue. WW has no reason to think of herself as superior to the lowly humans when her powers come from items of power.
What if the boundary was just a giant wall like in the Truman Show
>>92038379
yeah, and you can even have POLITICS and factions who don't really believe in turning bad but their Patron want them, so they have to.
I'd have the Ares faction being the most belligerent but also the most open to outsiders and men while the Athena faction would be less aggressive but also openly man-hating though not to the extent of the Artemis faction who only sees men as sources of babies(Artemis was a goddess of childbirth) and would be, otherwise, quite pacific.
>>92038505
I just don't like the idea of her losing powers by taking her clothes off. Though I guess that would have made the Jodi Picoult "she has no powers in her secret identity" thing make more sense.
>>92038340
>I've never even read or seen JoJo
then go and read or watch it.
>>92038260
>>92038324
>>92038379
It also serves to humanize them more. Distinct subcultures is much more recognizable to your typical audience, and would help make the Amazons more approachable, potentially lessening the tendency to "other" them.
These threads have taught me that a good chunk of the ideas good writers come up with for their WW runs really ought to be integrated together.
IN THE GAME OF GODS, YOU WIN OR YOU DIE
>>92038551
Her being powerless when in normal clothes makes me remember the TV show in a way, so i can't really hate it, specially if she can call the armors and weapons by spinning a lot. It also help to make her a bit different from Superman. Anything that can help her stand out from Superman without the need to chance her personality is good.
>>92038576
There are so many great ideas across this, Year One and Earth One, I wish they had used this whole Rebirth thing as a chance to make some actually positive changes to her backstory.
Also not a bit fan of the WWII setting here, so I'm guessing from here on I'm not gonna be loving it quite as much as I have so far.
Etta is my fucking GIRL
>>92038646
Why?
>>92038667
I just don't get the point. I like Diana in the modern day and meeting the rest of the JLA.
At it requires you to make her immortal, which removes more of her humanity.
Though she does get to hang out with the JSA and be their secretary, and go fight Nazis.
>>92038505
IMHO Diana should be the best of both worlds: a "peak human" because the lifestyle of the Amazons(think MVP in Marvel) with various Items of Power making her Beyond Human, a Wonder.
They would also cement her religion, as they are blessed by her gods.
"Oops, I lost my shoes and cannot fly anymore" is just bad writing. Unrelated to the item themselves.
>>92038466
I would have liked her taking a sword, too, remembering Philuppus' phylosophy, while her mother only gave her the means to protect herself
This comic is doing a good job in humanizing WW and the amazons.
Not that WW needs it, but in this comic she's less the immortal powered hero or warrior demigoddess and more the normal mortal girl with magical items facing impossible odds.
I really fucking hate the immortal goddess who's totally disconnect from humanity and needs to be taught better about why humans can be just as worthy.
>>92038736
It harkens back to Diana talking about how she preferred the lasso as a weapon because it allows you to capture your enemy
>>92038761
It's something I like with Superman too. There's the Superman who's an ideal and a role model. But when he's young he's not at that point yet. You only get to be someone everyone loves and looks up to like Big Blue or Wonder Woman after years of learning and earning that respect.
>>92038660
THICC
>>92038701
>At it requires you to make her immortal, which removes more of her humanity.
Not really seeing that. If anything, living for so long would teach her just how precious life is due to seeing it as so much more fleeting, thus motivating her to preserve it.
What is this "wuv" of which you speak?
I wonder what this flag will be used to make.
>>92038551
well, most of those items are easy to hide under common clothes... she'd need to take them out only if she chooses to have a secret identity of sort
>>92038576
>These threads have taught me that a good chunk of the ideas good writers come up with for their WW runs really ought to be integrated together.
which is basically what this run does.
>>92038774
True. That's why she should use a sword mostly as a tool, not to kill. Much easier to carve open a tank with a sword, yes?
>>92038816
love the cat
it's the details.
>>92038805
Yeah, but writers usually can understand that despite his powers Superman can understand and relate with humans, because he grew among them, but for some reason they sometimes fail to see Wonder Woman that way. She's shown as a goddess that doesn't understand, relate and kinda look down on the mere humans, because they don't have any powers or seem to share any of her amazonian values.
Because for some reason it seems writers fail to see the rest of the amazons as humans.
>>92038919
>Because for some reason it seems writers fail to see the rest of the amazons as humans.
Exactly.
>>92038846
You'd think that, but then you've thing like KC.

>CANDY'S betta!
I knew the moment I saw the cover I was going to adore this Etta.
>>92038995
Yes. This Etta is Love. This Etta is Life.
I think it's funny how old timey folks are always depicted this way, all squeaky clean and comparatively innocent, when in reality they were just as horny and raucous as they are today.
GET DOWN WITH THE THICCNESS
>>92039150
Who dis?
>>92038919
>"G-girls running their own civilization? Without MEN??? What sorcery is this?"
Let's be real here, that IS at least a part of it.
>>92039150
Oh, swell, another dark future story-line with a battle-hardened and non-nonsense Wonder Woman who spun sword and shield.
>Gargantuania
LMAO
>>92039206
Wouldn't want people to think Wonder Woman isn't totally badass!
Drawing Wonder Woman with a sword and shield is like when Superman is drawn covered in shadow with glowing eyes, except at least that isn't usually reflected in the actual story.
>Etta's earrings
I love it
>>92039150
What's this supposed to be? The new Rebirth team?
Like 'dee, dee, dee", 'bop bop budda"
Mean Girls: 1944
It's not her fault no one can resist the THICC
This is making me very happy
>>92039183
Yeah, but come on. Comics sometimes treat the amazons as if they were as aliens as kryptonians and they all had superpowers to boot. That Wonder Woman's accustomed living in a society where all the women are super and capable.
So humans all pale in comparison, of course, that is other than Superman, who isn't human at all, thank Zeus.
Every sentence she utters is pure gold
>>92039320
The new event focused on Batman, Dark Metal, where Batman this time around seems to be the dictator.
>>92037225I honestly hated Wonder Woman for the longest time because I only knew her from DCAU and looking back on it, she was honestly the worst character in the JL and one of the worst in the entire universe
>>92039425
Is that the thing Snyder is doing?
What are the odds that Diana ends up being exactly like she is in Injustice, just banging Batman instead of Superman?
One more to put as at the halfway point.
>>92039469
WW wasn't so bad in the DCAU, but the Dini episodes weren't so good.
>>92039469
Yep, in the commentary for some episodes Dini and Timm are talking about how they developed the series and they admit they didn't know what the fuck to do with Wonder Woman.
On a recent rewatch I've been noticing McDuffie written episodes tend to have a much better characterized Diana, and it's odd because I've never heard or read anything about McDuffie even mentioning Wonder Woman.
Further proving McDuffie was too good for this world.
>>92039471
>"Diana, you'll stand by my side. We all know after all of your love powerful men who boss others around. Now go kill Clark for me. He wish to threaten our Regime."
This is getting a bit too existential.

Capullo, it's from Metal.

>>92039631

Etta confirmed Texan
>>92039376
Yeah, ya think De Liz likes Etta, a lot? Cause this feels like waifufagging a little. I mean, good taste, but still.
>>92039678
Only 11 pages left, we're good.
>>92039695
Etta is a strong character who basically got lost in the modern world because someone being fat and fine with it is seen as weird.
Body acceptance is still a controversial topic right now but I think it's endearing to have a character that just is who she is and doesn't hide anything.
So you have 90's Etta being a fucking anorexic because she wants to look like Diana and that doesn't make for a very likable character.
IMO I challenge anyone to read the Golden Age Wonder Woman comics or strips and not fall in love with Etta's confidence and charisma.
So maybe this comic is laying it on a bitTHICCbut I think it's harder to sell a character like this today without someone thinking it's some sort of agenda.
>>92039616
>>92039588
To be fair, i don't think that's a possibility. Writers like to portray the dynamic between Wonder Woman and Batman in two ways:
They respect each other immensely as comrades in arms and Batman deep down fanboy over Wonder Woman seeing her as the best possible caretaker for the world (alongside Superman)
They distrust each other, him due to her recklessness and powers, her due to his underhandedness and hidden weapons, and they're always at odds in how to handle things.
So based on that she's either trying to save him from himself or trying to take him down. That is, if he's indeed a dictator in this event.
Missed opportunity for more DC war comics references
Unless there is a Nazi Bigfoot and I haven't seen it
Haha time for fashion!
And that's where we stop for the night.
Thanks for reading with me, I'm enjoying this series a LOT so far.
Next time we'll read the other half.
>>92039963
Since you stopped I will post this
It's coming on May 9th!

this comic is full of very nice little details that make everything feel more real.

>>92039789
It's funny, because Etta is clearly in the classic "fat people are jolly" mold.
>>92037422

>>92038324
Wouldn't it be the Artemis faction who would be the man-haters?
legend of bump
>>92044503
Artemis was fine with men as long as you didn't catch her bathing, at which point it's open season.
>>92039382
To me, most writers see the Amazons as not understanding humanity because of the whole isolation deal. To be fair, Jimenez was working on making Themyscira more integrated in the DCU but that sadly didn't get followed through.
>>92039588
Don't forget to have Dick or Babs calling out Bruce on how much of a dick he's being!
