Now this, I've never read before.
I also don't have any idea what's happening right now
This fucking crosshatching
And the Queen of Hair herself appears!
She sure knows how to pick 'em.
>I know he's a lord of evil and suffering who enslaves women but he's really a nice guy! You just don't understand the nature of our relationship!
Now this is what I call a "power fantasy"
I didn't think anything with Wonder Woman in it could be more 90's than the Deodato run, but here we are.

Cyberella is an American comic book series first published in 1996 as part of the short-lived DC Comics imprint, Helix. The title was initially scheduled to be an ongoing monthly, but, owing to poor sales figures for both it and the Helix line generally, was cancelled after twelve issues in 1997. Written by Howard Chaykin and drawn by Don Cameron the title has been variously described as a techno-satire and a populist cyberpunk dystopia.
>>91982307
Oh, Helix, that I know about. I guess they changed the name from Matrix.
So this guy is a Belmont?
>>91982331
COMIC URBAN LEGEND: DC had to change the name of their Helix line of comic books because of the Shadowrun role playing game.
STATUS: False
When DC announced the name of their new science fiction and science fantasy line of comic books (that notably featured Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s Transmetropolitan) back in 1996, the name of the line was the Matrix. However, there also grew a significant scuttlebutt that it, instead, had to do with the Shadowrun role playing game, which included a Matrix of their own. Reader Richard Rittenhouse explains:
The story that I heard at the time was that the change was prompted by FASA, the publishers of the SHADOWRUN pen-and-paper role playing game. In the game, there was a virtual reality cyberspace called the “Matrix”, and the publishers had supposedly trademarked the term.
Yes, that’s pretty much what happened. Given the way things change all the time in Hollywood, I was just glad when THE MATRIX film actually came out, under that name, and was a hit. At least that justified all the last-minute hell of changing our imprint name. I remember, at the time, being sure that years later I’d go to the theater and they’d have changed the movie’s title to “THE LATTICE,” or something. That would have been too much.
>>91982406
>>91982431
Interesting. But definitely they couldn't trademark a word as generic as "matrix".
HOLY SHIT
>>91982490
I know right. http://www.trademarkia.com/matrix-73769710.html
That was probably the fastest turnaround from the introduction of a new character to them being revealed as an evil traitor I've ever seen.

Demons out of fucking nowhere.
Watch Artemis ruin a superhero team literally the day she joins it, that's impressive.

Oof. Went to the local BIG-BOOKSTORE to check out their renovated "graphic novel" section. Lots of nice oversized things, but little Wonder Woman. They did have several "Wonder Woman by Mike Deodato" copies
This looks cool

It looks like a pretty crummy collection because it's just pieces of completely disparate, unconnected runs, when you could just get the actual omnis for those entire runs.
It's like you're paying a premium price for a sampler.

I want the WML Wonder Woman stuff collected in an omnibus.
>>91983218
Same. It's only 38 issues altogether, including this mini.
I think if DC really wants to reverse the misconception that Wonder Woman "doesn't have any good stories", they really gotta push all these great runs from her history.
Yup it's Helix now
I like how unlike characters like Azrael and Eradicator, Artemis is still basically a good guy.
"Squeamish Flesh Shell" is the name of my band
Or maybe "A Thousand Painful Pleasures"

Unfortunately the last issue.

>>91984364
Sadly Azrael and Eradicator have just been out of work for too long, but they both have been brought back in the last year so maybe there's still a chance.

And the self-aware humor continues!
>>91984070
I like how /co/ totally would but /co/ is too busy sperging out and making it's 28th thread about Samurai Jack on this board today, which is a number I desperately wished I was pulling out of my ass but is in fact accurate.
>>91984536
And one year from now there'll once again be threads asking for Samurai Jack to come back.

Despite all the letters pages full of people begging for an ongoing, that's the end of that.
Maybe JSAnon is one of these letter writers
>>91984734
This is like that issue of Ostrander's Suicide Squad where the two characters ghosts kill each other and this demon cackles to Satan that they've defeated the humans again, and Satan just says at length how pointless a victory convincing two assholes to continue being assholes when they'd do it without any input at all really is, and that all he's got to talk with is this pathetic sychophant demon and that's it.
He summarizes it with;
>"Truly, this IS hell."
Thanks for reading on this fine Sunday afternoon. I'll now be dumping Wonder Woman Gallery '96 because why not.
>>91984972
Hey, W.H., Jill Thompson worked on Wonder Woman for years! What a casual!

Oh no, he's 3" taller than average!
Something I see a lot with basically anyone except Batman and Superman but especially Wonder Woman is people who say "[character] has no good stories!".
A part of this is obviously because, instead of OGNs, most characters good comics are just within long runs. They don't have names that are snappy like "All-Star Superman", "The Long Halloween", "Hush", and so on, names you hear everyone mention all the time.
Instead when you talk about Wonder Woman you mention specific authors' names, and over time the names of Perez and Rucka have started to get repeated a lot, which is a good thing, but it's obvious a lot of people are just repeating those because that's what they've heard of.
So I'm trying to make a new rec image, and what I'm trying to do right now is to pick out the best issues in each run and cut them up into self-contained slices with an arc name. It's honestly a little difficult, because as with most good runs of anything, a lot of what makes it good is the connective tissue between the arcs as much as the arcs themselves.
And of course being heavy on continuity between your arcs is only OK if it's written by Brian Azzarello.
But yeah that's just what I'm doing now in the lead-up to the movie.
>>91995302
>basically anyone except Batman and Superman
I actually hear that a lot with Superman too.
Reqiuem bump
