>"dude this show is so deep and depressing bro"
>show is just entry level existentialist nihilism and a plebeian understanding of marxism and critical thinking
>protagonist is a generally well off individual who has no reason to be depressed besides "dude depression lmao" even when they can afford to buy anti depressants
>alcoholism is romanticised, maaaybe a background character smokes weed, characters will go through fake trip out scene with non hallucinogenic drugs
>show acts anti god, but only really attacks religious institutions like the church, and it's from an uneducated perspective on actual church corruption, just "dude the people's opiate lmao"
>character development goes around in circles but acts like the ongoing story actually matters
>animation is a secondary thought and usually cheap, instead of something that reflects the admittedly shallow but existing themes of the show
What are some actual, genuinely deep animated shows out there? I hear the Maxx is pretty kino.
lol whoever called XRA 'depressing'?
>>95099861
That wasn't my implication, so I'll appreciate if your depressiation depreciation could beat it, if you catch my meaning. Which is to say, I'd like to beat it off the road less traveled, and give it a traveler's train ticket to enlightenment.
>>95099851
>deep and depressing
OP, you're just fucking with me, you gotta be.
Are you guys excited for this?
>>95099725
Absolutely!...
What the fuck is it?
If they showed something other than that same image, yes.

>>95099555
Comet and Star songs are interesting how they end on a melancholic note. Makes em stand out and stay with you, you kno.
Why are there no romance cartoons?
>>95099447
bECAUSE ROMANCE WITHOUT A PLOT IS SHIT
>>95099447
That's so nice of her to chew his food for him.
>>95099447
Because anime exist.
Can we get a discussion on these? At first I despised these Mickey Mouse cartoons. Goofy looked grotesque, Potato Land was my first exposure and it felt just fucking weird, and the color pallete was just bizarre for me.
But some of them are pure gold, such as
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6gw5LnKeGU
and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5CEzEkBOlQ
Not to mention all the international ones that convey a lot with only a few foreign words.
So what does /co/ think of these?
>>95098792
>Goofy looked grotesque
???
>>95098858
In a lot of the episodes he's in he's doing 'something' that deforms his body to disturbing levels or he just does something less "Goofy" and more "Nasty". I.E. Belly button picking, slobbering and dripping mucus to excessive levels, just looking like a spawn of Nurgle or something.
I'd love to see Stephen DeStefano animate a Betty Boop cartoon. He already drew some fanart sketches.
What was the thought process behind him? Does anybody know? It seemed like it went absolutely nowhere, didn't upgrade Gargan to a better villain than before, and didn't do anything for the Venom mantle either but reduce it to lackey character....were there some bigger plans they abandoned or were they really just taking a fucking shot in the dark and doing something for no reason?
Carnage was gone, so I guess they needed a new evil symbiote character?
I think it was mostly just a "We don't know what to do with Eddie Brock, but also want to keep Venom because Venom sells"
Remember, Eddie was supposed to die after he sold off the symbiote, but it was revealed way later in Sensational Spider-Man 38 that he survived the attempted suicide.
>>95098678
Yeah but it's not like they did anything to even push Gargan Venom, mostly he was treated as the same loser and jobber he always was treated as, don't know how that was supposed to capitalize on the Venom popularity
>Testing begins.

So what, the tranny is going to cuck her brother and Marten will be okay with it because Hacks will never have her be wrong?
Brun not showering for several days is Jeph's new attempt to get people of a certain fetish to read his comic.
What kind of asshole eats food out of another person's fucking hand?
CHOWDER
YA GOTTA DRAW SOMETHIN
WOULD I
I can't watch this show because I always want to know what the food tastes like but never will.
Depresses the hell out of me.
An easy one
I don't know why, but long hair like this just makes my heart melt.
Hmmm...Wendy or Star guys?
>TFW your waifu has been basicallly written off the show after her arc was finished and now is nostly ignored by everyone else
>>95098013
That's what you get for waifuing memes.
is she not selling? make peri sexier
>>95098064
they misread your memo
What does /co/ feel about Batfleck?
>>95097954
Great performance and I liked the costume (not the robot one) and voice but he got screwed hard by a kinda crap movie same with Jeremy Irons as Alfred, he performed great as him but was wasted in a poor movie.
>>95097954
Best live action Batman.
That first scene and how he moved is proof positive that Batfleck is a damn good live action Batman.
I finished The Incal.
Any other good transcendentalist comics out there?
Failing that, anything that someone who enjoyed the Incal might also enjoy.
>>95097757
what is the incal?
>>95097831
It's a nice comic by Jodorowsky and Moebius. A sort of space opera revolving around a mystical macguffin called the Incal.
I ended up having a pretty high opinion of it when it was all over.
>>95097757
>The Incal
whats it about
Strip drop.
>>95096775
Another wasted day.
>>95096775
I know this is meant to be a cartoonish depiction of reality, but there's no way in hell they make sink-sprays that long.
Also, I like how the implication is that the only way these two characters can get along is by making other people miserable.
>>95096775
Fuck off Willis.
>Western animation: kids' stuff and raunchy comedies for adults
>anime: action, drama, comedy, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, thriller, even porn.
Why does Japan get to animate all sorts of stories but we're stuck with the same two fucking genres for the most part?
If this thread is still here in 12 hours I might be bothered to right a proper answer. Long story short: Anglo culture seems to lean very heavily on comedy.
>>95096711
Marketing
>we will never get Western animation to the level of depth and maturity as something like Neon Genesis Evangelion
Why live?
