i think about buying crab. 1. Could i feed him anything? 2. Do i need large aquarium or just big bowl with water and sawdust could be enough? 3. Tap water or mineral water?
Just cook him and take his legs to the movie theater, this way you won't have to pay for the legs they sell there.

its not i thought keeping crab is pretty simple

My betta got tore up severely bad by another fish. He currently has no fins at all and is floating face down like pic related. Every now and then he'll twitch or try to swim around a bit. He's still breathing and his fins are still flapping. I have him in salt atm.
What do i do? Give it to me straight. I don't want him to suffer
>>2421776
Op did you at least win the match. I mean how much money did you make from fighting your Betta.
>>2421782
I'm euthanizing him rn. So he clearly lost
>>2421784
Why did you let your fish fight, if you didn't want him to suffer? You are responsible for his pain and his death.
Hey /an/, I'm looking for a book on the evolution of life, from the very beginning until today. Preferably with lots of pictures, graphs, maps diagrams and such. It doesn't have to be too detailed, but I'd like to know what life was doing in specific ages on earth. I'm aiming to be able to better visualize how nature was billions of years ago.
I'd appreciate your help!

you can try these

this is a really good n comprehensive book that covers what you're looking for- every geological period is chock-full of info on what was going on along with major species groups that evolved in each; really good intro paleontology book. I would splurge for the hardcover as the larger format gives the tables n graphs room to shine
>>2421180
those look good, but as expected they're pretty expensive. I'm just getting into this as a hobby, maybe I'm getting such expensive books later. So do you know of something a little more affordable?
>>2421283
Is there so much of a difference between the haecover and the paperback version that it justifies 20+ bucks extra? Sounds like the kind of book I was looking for, if I could get it for cheap would be great.
Btw /sci/ is an unfriendly bitch. Thanks for being nice, /an/

Mammals > all other animals
For every awesome bird, there is a mammal that probably does whatever it does much better, with the bonus of not having brittle bones, and being bigger and smarter.
When birds dominate the planet and make their own computers, maybe then they will be worth any praise.

May I present to you the Australian White Ibis. It is not a cool bird. It drinks bin-juice all day.

"Back to normal"
Good fucking luck, it's summer.
Don't whine because you can't shut your teenage patrons the fuck up. That thread was requested to be deleted a week ago.
http://suntorycollection.com/growers/surfinia-heartbeat/ These have been a bit of a disappointment. Whatever weather they require to make the heart pattern they can't seem to get. On sunny weeks or rainy ones both mine, and all the planters at work are just giving out a pastel pink. Not a terrible pastel pink, but nothing like what the tag says they will look like.
I wonder if this plant will be brought back next year or kicked to the curb like variegated leaf petunias. (I haven't had any customers bring any back to complain yet, but I bet it has been happening.)

On the other hand these guys have been pumping out neat looking flowers regardless of weather. Even if they're more purple or white, they still look interesting, and like what you expect to get. These will probably be popular for a while. A bunch of stores I know sold out.

Not rly. I used to watch his shit too. He's pretty good!
Perhaps a bit juvenile but not normie scum.
What he's doing is great, providing nature themed videos essentially for free and his personality seems to be a huge hit with the kids.

no, the opposite since you're obviously into scat
Okay,so the other day I bought a gold mystery snail for my aquarium. And,yesterday he was very active, but today, he's barley moved a inch, is he sick or something?
Mystery Snail's can often stay in their shell in the same place for lengths of time. Mine was like that for the first 3 days after being put in my tank. If you ever think it is dead, pick it up and sniff it.

Eh,ok,thanks for the help man.
Also, question,is there any way I can like humanity get rid of baby snails,or egg clutches, for example give them to a pet store,or something.

Hi everyone,
First time poster here, I wanted to ask for some advice.
We recently got a larger tank from a person, except the thing came with a pleco (suckermouth catfish) that's about 10-11 inches long.
The tank itself is only about 2.5ft x 1.5 ft x 1.5ft and the poor bastard is clearly uncomfortable. I feel really bad for it, considering its lived there for a while before we got it.
We keep small community fish, variations of tetra and the like, and had no intention of getting this giant as hell fish.
We have to get rid of it, because another upgrade to a larger tank just isn't in the cards financially at the moment, but obviously just throwing it out isn't something that we'd do.
Could you help tell me the most appropriate way to find someone/somewhere that would take it off of our hands? Is there even a slight demand for a pleco?
It seems to me that this is a case of the original owner not realising that it's going to keep growing.
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
Pic is not mine but relevant.

You could advertise it in aquarium facebook groups or an announcment in a local newspaper. But it´s better off in your tank than released into the nature.
I live in a 3rd world country so I have no practical experience.
post in the aquarium general, you'll have more people willing to help there.
Look on websites like Kijiji or Craiglist (or your equivalent) and look for ads for removing fish. There are always a few in my area. Also check Facebook groups in your area, and see if there are any local aquarist clubs. Also go to /aq/ general for further fish related advice.
Got a question is Cesar's techniques accurate or abuse? Are the effective or just cruelty? If it work it works. In my opinion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mpuybf1pYY&app=desktop
Cesar doesn't train for long term effects, he trains for the camera. He gets the dog to shut down, which he calls submission, and calls it a day. But tomorrow the dog will have the same exact issues all over again. And the next day and the next day. It's not training as much as it is a way of living. Everytime you need the dog to do the thing it doesn't want to do, you have to break it's will. To me at least, that is not training, that's forcing. I can train his dogs more effectively and for a bonus, I can do it without getting bit.

What about with dominant dogs such as pitbulls.
Nice bait thread.
Yo, I'm a clueless 21 year old who has made friends with a mother cat and her 3 kittens (about the age of kitten in pic). My friends and I want to sort of adopt the cats and keep them as outdoor cats at our student housing complex. My friends are cheap as fuck and don't want to get them fixed or anything and I read that they're an invasive species, so I'm wondering if it is wrong to feed them. I wouldn't mind taking care of one of them if all of the shots and whatever are less than $500. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but you guys seem like you would know. Any advice? I don't want to send them to an animal sanctuary to be euthanized or whatever the fuck.
They're super friendly btw, they come up to us and we pet and hold them. They'd straight up let us take them home.
Contact a local, reputable rescue organization to come take care of them and get them fostered out and adopted. Feral kittens have a high death rate from random diseases and inherited diseases. Adopt one if you can, vaccinations and fixing is relatively cheap. Also, I wouldn't trust cats/kittens on a campus because people are terrible.
Ended up adopting all 3 of them.
