It's the only library on Chestnut Street. It's coordinates are 42.520429°N 70.900502°W. While they aren't exactly the same as the coordinates given on gatewaytohell.org ("42.523046 and -70.889774"), they are pretty fuckin close, and considering the possibly of slight inaccuracies I think this is the place they wanted us to find. If the OP I quoted earlier is to be believed, a book may be found here giving coordinates to a new location, apparently a creepy-ass basement. This is where the passageway to Hell may be found.

I have been very interested in the extreme isolation and poverty of rural appalatia. The poorest counties in appelatia are among the poorest in the United States, with some homes lacking electricity or plumbing. This is an area where all of the mining and logging jobs have dried up, and there has been an exodus of the inhabitants of these mountains, people of mostly scot-Irish descent, that had been living there for centuries. The ones that are left behind are said to be so desperately poor that they cannot leave, drug addicted or dependent on welfare, or too elderly to move. I feel that there is a huge potential for scary shit to happen there, and was wondering if there were any creepy pastas or stories on rural appelatia that existed. Or perhaps some old appalatian folk stories that people knew or first hand accounts of the conditions there or scary situations they have been in the mountains.

ITT Interstellar conspiracy:
Last week, I went to see Interstellar into a movie theater with couple of my friends. Long story short - I was temendously dissapointed by this latest work of Nolan a director whom I held in great respect. The plot was terrible (with a great deal of cheap conveniences and outright plotholes), the characters were bland (I think this was one of the most overly melodramatic/artificial roles of McConaughey in a long time) and I'd say that the visual were literally the only thing in the movie that deserved any kind of recognition whatsoever.
I was stunned to see so many people not only satisfied, but enchanted with the movie. I mean, to me, it seemed downright awful, and so painfully obviously so that I didn't even begin to think that anything more but a small minority of the movie-goers could like it. I got into several discussion regarding the film since I've seen it, and people seem to use very strange arguments while defending it.
I know I'm going to sound like a nut here, but hey, this is /x/ right? I've entertained the thought that there might be some sort of subliminal messaging in the movie, that would make people like it and consider it a good movie for quite irrational reasons. I know it is a bit preposterous, and that a much easier explanation is available - people have different tastes than me and/or are stupid conformists who go with the hype. But still, I think it's a fun thing to think about - I mean, Interstellar isn't the single shitty space movie that has gotten.great general reception (Gravity, I'm looking at you).
What's your two cents on this? Could Interstellar be just a piece of cinematographic pseudo-propaganda of some sort? What ends would it serve? What might be some of the potential subliminal messaging in the movie?

As we all know, space actually doesn't have any sound (you can't hear anything in space), however sound in space comes in the form of electromagnetic vibrations which are picked up by the instruments on a space satellite (or probe).
Most videos claiming to be sounds from a planet bear no recognizable similarity to the natural signals. On the other hand, they are far more marketable.

First time posting here, hoping to get some advice/help/thoughts on some pretty weird stuff that’s been happening to me recently. This will probably end up being a long post, there’s a lot to tell, but I think my house is being haunted or something...
My girlfriend and I moved house a little over three months ago now, the house is relatively new (no older than 5 years) and in a decent enough area close to Leicestershire. The first few weeks were fine and we had no problems with the new place at all but then, about two weeks ago, things started to happen. At first it didn’t seem like it was a big deal and I thought it was just my imagination or that there was a logical explanation to what was happening.
The first thing I noticed was that two of our cats (we have three) had become very aggressive towards each other, and sometimes my girlfriend and I, since we moved. Obviously, a big move like this would have some kind of effect on animals; our last house was roughly 150 miles away so it was a long drive. They would just hiss and lash out for no reason at all and run away from us if we tried to touch them. One night I was heading up to bed, home alone because my girlfriend was visiting her parents, and noticed one of the cats in the bedroom standing with his back arched and fur stood on end like he was about to pounce on something. I went into the room quietly and noticed there were no other cats in the room. He was staring directly at the window and kind of growling quietly. I knelt down and started stroking him and he just stayed where he was, all tense and wide eyed. After a while he ran downstairs and I went to bed thinking nothing of it.

After about ten minutes the noise was still coming from the kitchen so I went to try and find the source. After checking the room I found that the noise was coming from outside so I stepped out into the back garden to have a look. There was nobody around and I couldn’t see any sign of animals. I could still hear the knocking noise and it sounded like it was coming from directly below me. I stood still for a second and then crouched down and held my hand to the floor; there was some kind of light thumping or banging coming from one of the concrete slabs on the ground. I had no idea what to make of this and just waited around to see what happened. The knocks were about 2-3 seconds apart and continued for about 5 more minutes. After it had stopped I went back to watching TV and the noise didn’t come back.
Now, this is where things start to get a bit weird…
The next night, about 10pm, I had just finished showering and was brushing my teeth when I heard the floorboards outside the door creak like someone had stepped on them. I just presumed this was one of the cats and really didn’t pay any more attention to it until there was a scratching/knocking on the bathroom door. I could see a shadow underneath the door but I couldn’t tell how big it was or make out any kind of shape. Thinking it was my girlfriend back from her parents I opened the door but the landing and the staircase were empty; no cats, no girlfriend. I closed the door and finished brushing my teeth and then the scratching started again. I stood still for a second to make sure I was actually seeing and hearing all of this correctly and then got down on the floor to look under the door but again, there was nothing there. A little unnerved I got into bed and rang my girlfriend to say goodnight and all that shit.

At about 12:30am I woke up to my mobile phone ringing. I noticed I had 8 text messages and 4 missed calls. My initial thought was “Oh shit, what’s happened?” so I answered the phone but couldn’t hear anyone on the other end. I asked who was there a couple of times but didn’t really know what was going on; I’d been in a deep sleep. After a few seconds I heard a raspy voice in the background mumbling something. It sounded like German (I did a brief German course in 2006 so have a very basic understanding of the language) but I couldn’t work out what was being said. I hung up and checked the text messages. Each message was from the number: +00000000000 and read: “Sie sollten Angst haben.” I was freaked out now and googled the text. I’m not 100% certain but I think it roughly translates to “You should be afraid.” I checked the missed calls and, again, they all said missed call from +000000000000 and all had a time of 12:26am. I turned my phone off and lay awake for about an hour before going to sleep.
The next day my girlfriend got home at about 6pm and we had dinner, watched a film and just generally chilled. I wanted to tell her about what had been happening but didn’t want to worry or scare her. We went to bed and I was about to start explaining everything when she said there was something she wanted to talk about. She showed me her phone and, exactly the same as mine, there were missed calls and text messages from this +000000000000 number. The texts all said the same thing and all of the calls were at the exact same time. She then went on to explain that her period has started two weeks early and she was worried that she was having a lot more pain than usual.

Sup you se/x/y people. I was wondering if we could get a Voodoo general going? A while back I came upon a thread which had a lot of really cool information. There was a guy in there who really knew his shit, coming from Louisiana or something. Anyways, any and all info pertaining to Voodoo is appreciated, as I know next to nothing about it other than the obvious, like its origins in African spirituality and Catholicism.
Also I'd highly recommend the X-Files episode "Fresh Bones." For those who have seen it, how accurate is the shows depiction of Voodoo?

Hey /x/ this is my first post here but seeing as how I found something quite interesting a couple days ago, I decided to make this thread
Now a little backstory, I was drunk and in ottowa some 4 days ago, along the canal when I found a briefcase, it was 6 am, and no one was around so I grabbed it thinking nothing of it tI'll I got home, and realised it was locked.. I broke into it, to find tons of manilla envelopes with papers most blacked out with sharpie, others with random numbers and letters (h4ze67lf53fs) I threw those out, and found this at the bottom... Now, I can plug it into my computer, but nothing loads, any ideas what could be on it?!

The papers have been recycled but they all had serial numbers and talked about a conference with names blocked out, dates and times and something about "newsworthy" and "patriotism" most was nonsensical cause of the sharpie, and others where just pages of letters and numbers jumbled together..

ITT we try to solve the Zodiac killer's unsolved 340 cipher.
Quick backstory: Zodiac was a serial killer in the 60's and 70's who teased the police by sending them a ton of letters. He sent the police two cipher puzzles, one of which were solved. Zodiac's second cipher has still never been solved and neither has the killer's identity been revealed.
We are all gonna try our best to crack this cipher, if you find something interesting, post it here.
