I can find absolutely no correlation to room 427 based on the blanks, I believe it's a thow-off. If you go check the bookings for the hotel, you will see that individual rooms are named and probably don't have numbers to them anyway.

The agency at work has made the mystery accessible to those who aren't physically present in the location. I think this because if you wanted a mystery that was only locally solvable there is no need to publish it online. I am 90% certain this is the case, although there is also the small chance that they are counting on someone in person to discover the key and let it be known publicly for the rest of us to continue.

The "2 Door" has to have some significance other than being 50/50. The only real difference I noticed between the two doors was the imposed number affected the appearance of the metalwork in the center. However if there is some internal significance that directly related to the correct door choice it stops there.

The coordinates given are very specific, yet do not put you at anything other than the street between the Hawthorne Hotel and the Salem Common. It isn't the direct coords for the Hotel, but its close enough for it to be relevant in some way. I would seriously suggest looking into any connection to the Salem Common (particularly the Gazebo) directly north.

Also has no one noticed that the Salem Witch Museum is a block away to the NW? That can't be a coincidence.

As for "Room" and "NDI3" it could an attempt to distract us at the hotel, when its true significance lies elsewhere.

prehaps the clue is based on the geo location of the Hawthorne hotel giving us the name Nathaniel Hawthorne an author and bookmark might lead us to collaborate this. then the whole /tools leading us to search for scythe. There are blank spaces/paragraphs now, alluding to the number "4 2 7". This could possibly be a room number.

Also worth mentioning is that /tools now redirects to scythes and sickles on ebay.

Perhaps there's something in room 427? I'm not sure, because if we don't take this at face value then it could be a lot of things.

I'm not sure if this is important (or even correct), but the page seems to be monitored/changed almost constantly.

If you view the Page Info (on Mozilla Firefox, at least), it says the website is modified very often. I can't tell if this is just when I myself visit the site or what, since it's very close to the present time, but according to Firefox's support website, "Modified:" should refer to when the page itself was modified.

Perhaps the person behind all of this is VERY actively keeping tabs on us?

Yeah, I've seen it, though can you explain how you're getting 427? At first I thought the page was just blank, but it's not blank blank. It has 13 carriage-returns or line breaks. That seems somewhat significant to me. I'm hesitant to assume anything about particular room numbers because those aren't public spaces. I just can't get my head around NDI3, it sounds so strange as a sequence. Its not unusual to have one or two letters followed by numbers, but to have 3 unrelated letters followed by a single digit of 3 makes me feel like it needs to be processed into something more legible.

The only other thing it reminds me of is how in Japan homes are classified like "2LDK" meaning "2 bedrooms, Living room, dinning room, kitchen"

Yeah, ARGs often employ characters like this who speak to "players" to help or hinder. Assuming I'm right, it would be used to create more drama and intrigue. I think the admin of the blog saw it and took it seriously, not knowing what it was, and removed the posts at the first mention of the word lawsuit out of sphincter-tightening reflex.

The way I understand it. Circulus Keep, the ones behind gatewaytoheaven.org, are some spooky, new-world-ordery cult promoting itself as a church. gatewaytohell.org is run by folks trying to expose them for what they are. Something that really bothers me, is how quickly the difficulty jumped. I mean, up the this point the solutions have been painfully simple and easy for anyone to make it to.

I personally feel like 427 (if it is anything) is a hint, rather than the key to the solution. I firmly believe we have everything we need to solve the riddle of the Devil's Bookmark with what was initially presented to us.

The later updates are probably stemming from the fact people are giving up and finding it too hard to sort out, as well as all the disinfo and false leads. Its meant to help us solve the initial riddle, not be a new piece of information that can be extrapolated from.

Just like that map site was put up to zero in on the Hawthorne Hotel to remove any ambiguity about the location that was meant.

in new england, there are many places people have hidden boxes with odd scrawlings and artifacts. there are also usually sign books in them where you sign your name stating youve found it. i forget what they are called and at this hour im exhausted, but these things are like mini treasure hunts with vague clues that lead to them. they are hidden anywhere from caves to stone walls along residents homes. i thought maybe since there isnt a defined area in the clues youve all discovered that maybe there is one of those boxes in that area. the only time i went and hunted for them was in 1999 in a town in new hampshire, so its hard for me to remember. will try to fine more info on them later on if anyone's interested.

Sure it's possible, though I guess my line of reasoning is that for someone else to find it, they'd have to either be looking for page 666 or they'd have to read the bible cover to cover, which seems unlikely in a hotel room. It's possible someone got there before us, but the "Nothingness" clue might be a nod to its being missing. It would also mean someone had stayed the night there, as it seemed like no one else had asked the staff to see the room before us, judging by their reactions. Again, possible, but perhaps not the most likely solution.

I think it was totally intentional. The missing page might be what was hinted at with the "nothingness" clue, and the nice thing about using a bible is that we can know what was on that page (more or less) while only having the ones before and after it. I've been reading those parts of Proverbs but nothing has clicked with me yet. Either the clue is in the text of the missing page, in the pages before and after it, or someone else spent a night there, found the page, and removed it. The latter doesn't seem as likely to me. We might also just have to bide our time a while and see what else develops.

The missing pages would have contained a bit of Proverbs 26, Proverbs 27 (though those would have been mostly on pg. 665), Proverbs 28, and Proverbs 29 1-15. The Gideons seem to use a translation close to the ESV, though I notice some differences. Another user posted this link to pastebin (http://pastebin.com/bhFjb9Pk) which ends right where 667 picks up, but I can't guarantee it begins where 666 would have begun because there's no easy way to see where the split between 665 and 666 landed.

I've taken a look at the whois info for both gatewaytohell.org and gatewaytoheaven.org

Both are registered through a privacy protection service so no personal details are shared, however both websites are hosted on hostmonster.com (as you can see from the name servers).

I looked up the help for hostmonster, and saw that you can get to a control panel for admin access from /securecontrolpanel - so I went there.

Both obviously require username and password, and I'm not about to try and gain access, but on URL redirect it showed that both sites are hosted on a host413 subdomain... I really think none of that is coincidence.
