The CIA has experimented and confirmed it.
Supposedly you can focus and view anywhere on earth.
Would it be out of the realm of possibility that a person can do this but through time? Such as viewing a place in the past? You could know the truth to every thing...

I can Astral Project succesfully, and so far I have at least once been able to communicate a message to someone a short distance away, who confirmed it the next morning (I was awake while APing, she was asleep when receiving the message.) I would say that's fairly inconclusive until I run some more experiments, but it was promising.

Because we don't understand

ITT we discuss the mind/thoughtform model of gods and spirits

This is the notion that spirits, gods, etc are actually aspects of our brain or mind and that their manifestation (even if it affects situations or stuff IRL like creating events or "coincidences") are nothing but a manifestation of our own mind, or that they exist "independently" as mind based lifeforms instead of being something "external" like a dog or another person.

Post anything related, in favour, against, etc.

I'm particularly interested in learning about the posture of buddhism, considering the notions of mind and mindstream.

Also, if the beings are in our mind, does our particular cultural upbringing affect the "image" we "see" of them?

I have a similar theory:
I believe spirits and gods manifest in the astral plane and are affected by everyone's subconscious. Prayers give them energy and they can somewhat affect our plane of existence.

>Chapter XLIII: The Holy Guardian Angel is not the "Higher Self" but an Objective Individual
>The answer is that it depends on the Angel—for the purposes of this letter I propose to use the word "angel" to include all sorts of disembodied beings, from demons to gods—in all cases, they are objective; a subjective "angel" is different from a dream only in non-essentials.

If the perception of magick was not a creation of our habitus, then spirit pantheons evoked across all cultures would be different in form and function (independent entities). If the perception of magick is a creation of our habitus, then spirit pantheons evoked across all cultures would be different in form but similar in function (entities of mind).

My brother was laying on his back in his room w/ the lights off at night. He randomly looked to the right and he claims he saw this dark hand that was slowly moving towards him. He kept looking at it thinking his mind was playing tricks on him, but then he realized in his mind that it wasn't stopping moving and it was coming to him. He said it was this "shadow hand" that he can't describe, only that "reality seemed to bend around it." He got up and he ran to his door with a single scream. I know all of this because I was in my room just surfing the web and was startled to hear my brother scream multiple times in succession. He has a history of night terrors but he claims this is different because he doesn't remember falling asleep. What do you guys think of this?

Your brother is being groomed for possession and or abduction. That shadow hand which reality bends around is an interdimensional entity, a destructive one since reality warps to it and not the other way around.

I think I'm going to start carrying cigarettes.

I've done as much as I can to autonomously cooperate, but the difference between who people think I am when they meet me through official channels and the type of person they think I am when I'm just a stranger on the street is too large. It'd be supremely dishonest for me to pretend that the city doesn't provide ample opportunity for people to live double lives and doubly dishonest for me to pretend that that's not exactly what I've been doing this entire time. It's not always going to be obvious where to draw the line, but it's clear that small towns don't create the same set of opportunities as a city does. How large the difference really is is anyone's guess.

To fully contextualize this information, you'll need to understand the root cause of cities. Most people haven't, most people won't, and most importantly, nobody needs to. Instead it'll be easier (both tactically and practically) to just watch Durarara!!. (If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, stop reading this and go back to your life, "This doesn't concern you.")

I need to start by saying that Masaomi is the only character that exhibits any kind of sanity. If I don't start with this sentiment, you'll lose a ton of critical calibration data while processing the implications of this information. The other critical detail is a subtle aspect of the narrative style: The anime has no (true) main character.

Before you understand how this is relevant to my role as observer, you'll need to understand the scope of my observations. Short of the cryptic declaration: "My mission to destroy the concept of authority was a success," the only other way I can concisely explain myself is to finalize my retirement from this role. Since the manner in which this is done won't affect the outcome, the only way for me to cooperatively express this information is to publish it ubiquitously (which is just a fancy way of saying right now).

My alignment is now Orihara Izaya.

>Metadata

Since most of you won't understand the context of this information for decades, the responsibility of configuring the resulting metadata falls on me. If any of this sounds too neologistic for your tastes, feel free to ignore it.
>--

"Durarara!!" (the anime referenced in the original post "OP" in this thread "ITT") is an instance of a specially encoded fictional simulation known as the term "generation format." While the anime is narrated from a number of different perspectives (one per episode), the "main character" (or characters, in this instance) is a group of friends attending highschool. The "first" such friend, Ryuugamine Mikado, represents the origin point and audience of the anime as a wide-eyed male who's always wanted to live in the city. His best friend, Kida Masaomi ("the sane one"), has already lived in the city for a long time and acts as a sort of "tour guide" for Mikado. Later, Sonohara Anri, a classmate in the same grade as our two protagonists, joins the troupe. Each of these characters has an adult counterpart in the narrative representing who that character will be if they manage to survive city life. The metadata-relevant parties are listed below.

Mikado, possibly due in whole or in part to Izaya's own influence, becomes Izaya.
Masaomi, possibly as a result of reading this thread, becomes Heiwajima Shizuo.
The Dollars become Celty.

>Authority

As mentioned in the OP, my mission to destroy the concept of authority was a success. Normally I'd explain how this was done but that sort of stopped mattering. If you really want to understand why I consider authority to be a dead concept, you'll have to watch Durarara!!. Trusting anyone else to interpret it for you won't really gain you a realistic understanding of what you're dealing with. In practice, I took all forms of authority onto myself and let them all die on their own terms.
>cont.
>>
>>18894835
This is also how the scope of my observations expanded to Orihara Izaya levels. It won't make sense if you're not paying special attention to the ways in which Orihara's actions affect the narrative but he's basically in the perfect position to levelerage the fact that nobody else has noticed just how dead the concept of authority really is.

More specifically, his (potential) past self, Ryuugamine Mikado, represents the final fragment of the concept of authority. In terms of the narrative, Izaya almost succeeds in getting Mikado to kill himself, but is thwarted by last-minute supernatural intervention. As far as the real world events go, that it precisely what you'd need at this exact moment to stop the death of authority: Immediate, narratively fated, supernatural intervention. Short of sending someone back in time to make a public declaration on the matter, I have access to no other evidence than a global "organic conspiracy" (fancy speak for mass apathy) to consent to the existence of people like Orihara Izaya.

If you're having trouble making sense of all this or figuring out how my observations led to this conclusion, just remember that respecting an authority is the same as consenting to every hidden evil that that authority enacts. If that feels like too much to contextualize or remember, no worries. Nobody needs to understand the root cause of the city. Cities don't exist because anyone knows how to run them, so your city life will remain fully intact despite a severe administrative oversight in existential philosophy.
>>
>Cities
I do recognize that people come from all walks of life and thus the causal link between city life and authoritative irrelevance won't be obvious to everyone. Precisely, I've begun to recognize (and understand!) the exact degree to which all the different people from all walks of life fail to understand this link. Any time any figure in a position of authority fails to understand exactly where their blind spots are, they defer, wittingly or otherwise, to people like Orihara Izaya. Obviously it's more complex than that, and every city is different, but the general sentiment holds: You've never been truly protected. Crime has never been physically or socically impossible and it never will be. Surveillance can never be complete without deep sacrifices to the quality of life and sanity of the public at large, so Confidential Informants will always be necessary for any city-based law enforcement to remain even remotely effective.

Now, most of you (speaking to the public at large) will still want surveillance. You will all, unwittingly or otherwise, contribute to surveillance and subsequent counter-surveillance efforts until the sun goes out. This is a given and this is right, just, "good," all of that. Surveillance is all the things you believe it to be and more. I know this. I know this the same way any other form of private investigator knows this. I know this for all the reasons you'd wish, hope, that a surveillance state would be able to prevent someone like Izaya from knowing this. I know this more than any one man ever should have. I know this in ways that no subject loyal to an authority ever can. I know this in all the ways it'd kill you to even think about. I know this in all the ways you trusted me to know so that I could protect you from them.

Your collective and individual ignorance of the causal link between city life and the death of the very concept of authority is itself that causal link. It's been dead for as long as ignorance has found fertile

>Can someone explain how this is possible?

I'm not sure why you're confused.

The earth is round. So the people on the night side will get a view of the lunar eclipse. The people on the dayside will see the sun, but won't be able to see the lunar eclipse.

The people on the terminator, that is the people that see the sunset and the sunrise, will have an unobstructed view of both the sun, and the moon. Both will be very close to the horizon, with the sun on one side of the sky and the moon on the other. Due to atmospheric refraction, they might be just a bit above the horizon.
