You are a micro organism trying to figure out why a profoundly more evolved being does things. There's no way we could know a god's thoughts, because we don't know what they really are, where they live, what or if they eat, what the universe even has to offer them and etc.

Who knows, god's life may be extended by butterfly farts, so he made earth and everything on it to farm them, and humans are just a side effect he doesn't even notice.

Or maybe the whole universe is just an effect of his subcontious thoughts, and he's not even aware he made it at all.
