Some guy took over two gyms near me earlier this evening. Level 23, but put two 100cp shitmons in them. Okay, I figure he was just taking them over to cash out and be done with it.
I ended up taking one of the gyms over a little while ago. It grew to a level four gym, so it would have taken a bit to knock us out. And yet... that fucker is back, I remember his name because it's sort of memorable. This time with a Charizard instead of a 100cp shitmon. Mind you, this is like 5 hours after he first took them over. So what gives? If he was just cashing out the first time, why bother coming back again to take down a 4-pokemon gym and putting a charizard in? And if he wanted to keep the gym for 5+ hours in the first place, why put a 100cp shitmon in there to begin with?

Also, why doesn't Niantic let us see the gyms we have pokemon in? I took over a gym a little ways away from me, I'd like to know how it's doing, whether any other mons have been added. Also when it's inevitably defeated overnight, I'd like to know what time/how long it lasted.

I would wait a bit honestly. With most pokemon I'd say go ahead and evolve and you'll get a better one later, but it takes so damn many magikarps. 88 will probably be a little less than 1000 cp when you evolve it. I think once you get to lvl 20 you should be able to find /hatch karp in the 140-150 range

Magicarp get around 10.5x multiplier. It varies per pokemon. Chech http://pogotoolkit.com/ for each pokemon species
Unless magicarp are really common near you, I'd wait for a higher one. A cp ~1000 gyrados doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle of catching 100 magicarp unless you can easily get another in a couple weeks.

With Arcanine basically if you see Bulldoze you should find your father's gun. Fire Fang/Fire Blast is the best moveset. Things like Bite/Blast or Bite/Flamethrower are usable.

Some people rank Fire Fang/Bulldoze high as a defender but I don't play that shit. Ain't NEVER been about playing that shit.

You guys, is there anything you can do to decrease lag in gyms?

My phone is crap, so by the time the dodge prompt comes up the move has usually already hit before I have a chance. Just earlier I was fighting a Hypno with my own Hypno (mine had Shadow Ball) but still lost due to the fact that the game tends to hang for a few seconds and then show me that I've lost half my HP in those few seconds. It makes leveling up gyms of my own team very difficult. It's less of a problem when fighting gyms of a different color, since you usually have twice the amount of Pokémon, but in 1v1 I often can't even win with a type advantage if my Pokémon doesn't have significantly higher CP (which lowers prestige gains).

Where are Grimers more common at? Got 23 candies for it so far and it's the last pokemon I need that isn't a country exclusive. He rarely spawns were I live and I live in a heavily populated area where lots of pokemon spawn all the time. We even had a dragonite spawn 3 weeks in a row.

I've been searching and some sites say they spawn everywhere and others say they spawn around industrial areas but we don't really have that here at least not close.

Does anyone know of any comfirmed nests or spawn locations?

It happens when the gym goes up or down a level and thus you are not fighting the correct pokemon (according to the server), The game then fails to register that fact every time you go into battle so it "errors out."

The only way to reset it is to wait for around ~20 minutes because that is when the server updates.

How big a difference is there between a CP 140 Magikarp and CP 103 Magikarp? The 140 one is between 75.6% IV and 95.6% IV, but the 103 is either 93.3% or 97.8%. Should I go for IV or CP?

Honesly, IVs don't make a huge difference if we're talking about pure combat potential. But it depends on how much candy and stardust you have to offer.

The level difference is about 5 - the 103 one is around level 15 and the 140 is about level 20, so it's a difference of about 20 candies and 40k stardust, assuming about 2 candies and 2000 stardust per half level.

The low-CP Magikarp will evolve into a Gyarados with about 1100CP, the other one will be more like 1500. But, really, this difference in IVs probably amounts to a difference of maybe 1-3 HP and 40-60CP. Not that much.

You could always just wait until you find a better Magikarp. Honestly, if you caught a hundred of them already you should already have one with better IVs.

In general, IVs only matter if you plan to have that Pokemon maxed out CP-wise. For anything else they're irrelevant.

What the hell am I doing wrong?

I'm level 20, on the verge of level 21, and I'm getting btfo by everyone I know who plays the game. My strongest is an Electabuzz that I hatched and dumped every piece of his candy I had into him, and he's at 1183. I've gotten a single 10k egg this entire time. And every time I'm with my friends and we see a pokemon, I consistently get the lowest CP version of the group, including the people I have a higher level than.

I realize that most of this is explainable by simple RNG, but it feels like I'm consistently losing the rolls, and it's killing my urge to keep playing.

I think my pokemon trainer account got perm banned because I did connect that to a 3rd party app way back when pokevision just got taken down. But my main is connected to my google play account which is probably the reason.

Sorry for all the rage, my server is shite and it can't hold too many people. If you're getting a white screen on your map, try clearing cache/cookies. People have had success trying a new browser too.

pokesearch isnt any sorta company, literally just me fucking around trying to help get some pokermans, dont have the money for big fancy upgrades
