Back when I scanned, as I was leaving the office after work in Brooklyn, I saw a Vileplume 10 blocks and 6 avenues away. I ran with my co-worker to go get it, but we didn't make it by like less than 30 seconds. I didn't see it on my overworld, but it showed up for him and when he went to click it, it had vanished. It took us around 30 minutes to walk back, to give you an idea of how much we had run.

On another occasion, we were doing work in the field when a Cloyster came up as being within some property by the waterline nearby. So we gave an excuse to the security guard operating the boom gate that it was for work to let us in and check something, and it worked. Both my co-worker and I caught it.

I downloaded a scanner and yeah I'll go through some crazy shit to get the stuff that I absolutely know I can get if I run.

The game is much more fun and I'm definitely way more active with a scanner since I have a pinpoint destination I need to make it to, allowing the distance to increase.

The other day I woke up at 6am and scanned my neighborhood for the hell of it, and about a half mile away an executor was going away in less than 5 minutes. And I live in Midwest suburbs where we get none of the good shit. I was out of house sprinting over there in maybe 10 seconds when it takes me like 10 minutes to contemplate actually getting out of bed most days off.

What other pokemon are common where you are other than Drowzee and the usual pidgey/weedle/ratatta etc.? I'm in surrey and we get loads of water types like krabby, shellder, poliwag and horsea even though there's very little water around other than a few small streams and ponds dotted about which are mostly out of sight anyway. There's almost no grass pokemon though which I find pretty annoying as the electric types are mostly shit in this game so I've got nothing to deal with all the water types in gyms.

there are some Krabbies/Horseas/Magikarps/Staryus/Goldeens along the beach (no Tentacools and Poliwags surprisingly, hopefully they rotate spawns again), the nearby park has Weedles/Pidgeys/Rattatas/Drowzees/Venonats, around uni campus there are some Zubats, Grimers, Abras and Oddish and the city centre has Growlithes, Eevees, Nidorans, and some Ekanses. The park shitmons are everywhere and the mons I listed are the more "exotic" ones that appear let's say every 20-30min.
Also from time to time you'd find Scythers, Spearows, Paras and Gastly but I wouldn't say they spawn at specific locations

vaporeon is the strongest one.
flareon is a close second.
jolteon is the weakest one but since the meta for gym defense is pretty heavy on water types, their weakness to electric might come in handy.

Interesting, the water pokemon you listed as appearing along the beach are the ones we usually find away from water (there always seems to be a krabby spawning on a local chippy kek) aside from magikarp.

Our waterfront/pier in Kirkwall is psyduck/poliwag/magikarp/tentacool/dratini (onlu seen 5 of them so far, 3 of them in the last 2 days).

We get a good chunk of spearow and gastly here, caught my first growlithe today at level 20.

We have a dire shortage of grass types here and that makes me sad.

Another annoying this about this is that they tend to always prefer double Water attacks. It's like maybe Poliwrath would make for a good Snorlax killer but no just another Water type that wants Bubble/Pump. Even Starmie falls into this category. I think the only exception is Slowbro and Water types that can't get a primary Water attack like Gyarados, Cloyster, Dewgong, and Lapras.

If you're poor:

Get in a moving vehicle
Get h2o water so you don't dehydrate
Go to a place that's 10-20 miles away from you with free parking
Park or get off of public trans
Get out of the car
Start walking between pokestops.

Every 10 unique pokestops you get a bonus, so try to find places with a large number of pokestops for you to hit.
Colleges are great places, but if you want to exit torment you can become and agent in Ingress and have access to IITC and Ingress Intel, which shows you the most likely sites of pokestops or gyms.
Seek out high density areas and use your money to visit these sites, then walk around.

Eventually you will encounter other trainers.
Talk to them.
Some of them will give you info about certain sweet spots that they've seen. (Many of the best places I've found have been passed along to me by other players.)

The more you explore, the more you'll be able to sit in place with 3 lured pokestops writhing within your reach as you sip a cool, splishy splashy healthy wet water and catch every Pokemon you see without spending a penny.

As you continue on your journey to become a Pokemon master you will find sites that are constantly lured, that contain a plethora of Pokemon (local churches, gas stations, city centers, college campuses). You also acquire a variety of Pokemon by visiting new areas.

I started at 15. Taking over gyms isn't that hard. You have 6 pokemon vs 1.

The exp can be garbage though but it's a more fun way of getting exp when you don't have any pokemon to catch around you.

The only times where this hasn't been the case is with Eevees. A lot of my hatched mons are in the very least 80%, but only 1/5 eevees that I get period are ever trash.

If their moves don't do much damage, it doesn't make a difference. Gengar's moves are pretty crap in that regard.

Holy fuck, I am mad jelly of you. The diversity in spawns you have up there is ludicrous.

I've been playing hardcore since release, going out for five-hour walks through town, and I still need eighty-five Bulbasaur candy, forty-three Machop candy, thirty-four Geodude candy, four Grimer candy, twenty-seven Koffing candy, and a fucking Lapras in order to complete the North American dex. I even saw a Lapras in the radar when I was in Chicago, but couldn't find the fucker before it despawned.

Other than Route 1 shit and bugs, pretty much all of that is from hatching eggs.
